- Though this song was written by Ewan McColl about the town of Salford and originally made famous by Luke Kelly with The Dubliners, it was another version that endeared itself to a whole generation of Irish people around the world. That is of course the iconic recording released by The Pogues in 1985. Featuring the unmistakable voice of the late Shane MacGowan, he truly made this song his own.
Here we performed it at the end of a segment we had on Cork's Red FM with Neil Prendeville - 1/12/23
