They all have it.It’s piston slap only time I stop hearing it when my brother used Athena big bore kit it stopped. And purred after I could be wrong but both our Hondas did it at the time
My 06 didn’t make any noise before it blew up, just all of a sudden locked up and cracked the crankcase. Got another 06 and now I notice this sound on it🫤
mine is making the same noise just a bit quieter but i just checked the valves and rebuilt the top end so i think im just overthinking it, must be normal
Mine sounds the same goes hard but it starts real easy like low compression or something, not sure if it’s the compression thing on the inside or it’s meant to be like that
@@boli8551 actually they all do that I think . The pipes on this one glow too. Unless you have a small auxiliary fan…. Best to keep those bikes moving and some air flow going. Tough bikes. I’d just prolly keep running it….
I know exactly what that is, i got a brand new 2022 crf 450rx doing that, not as bad but it started after my buddy reved it too high thinkin he was in hole shot mode, it was the cam bearing spun in the seat and made grooves in the head i got pics and can make a video of it if you want

@michael snook I did figure it out sorry I haven't posted the video yet but as it turns out the noise was the cam shift sliding side ways and my timing chain was too tight, I had to use a super thin c clip between the bearing and cam lip to keep it in place, it was a horrible design
Is it still running since the initial video? My 07 is making this noise but not as loudly, just want to know if I should rebuild or just keep riding? Becuase when ever I try keeping a steady speed it starts to miss fire
I do not have it anymore. But It ran for a long time like that and never blew up. So, a bunch of people say they have noisy motors that run fine. Not sure why yours is backfiring though, maybe valve adjustment?

@@fastflo1 no seriously! No sarcasm here. I used to run my idle down real low and it makes everything slap (piston, cam chain etc). Turn that idle up a bit and it won't stall so easily as well as not make so much noise.
Nah I have the same noise on my 06 crf450r and I just did a valve adjustment. Not because of the noise but because of hard starting and back firing. They were def out and I corrected them but noise is still there runs strong tho

My 2019 sounds like that with low hours. Aluminum skid plate magnified the sound. Run it!! 😂
I do think they are just a noisy motor overall. Tough though! For sounding so Noisy👍

My 04 makes this sound but a lot less frequent, chances are it’s the cam chain tensioner going bad, buy a manual one and they’ll outlast your engine 😂
so you just adjust it to keep the chain tight?

My '05 makes the same noise but has been running great. They're just clanky engines I guess.

famous honda tic, they all seem to do that. mine does that and it was just rebuilt with only less than 2 hours on the motor
Right. I always thought it was Hondas noisiest motor ever made. Run great though!
Take a infrared thermometer and scan the engine youll find it over temp on the valve cover, sprocket side

Either your cam chain it loose your valves are loose or your piston is knocking.

Has anything happened to that bike yet mine sounds like that minus the word chirp sound just the ticking.

My clean ‘14 sounds like that. I think hondas 450 motor is just loud, clangy and rattly

I never did and it never broke. It is gone now so it was not a big deal whatever it was. Cool to hear all the reasons it could be though.
Mine makes the same noise, valves all in spec. Decompressor arm was slightly over spec so I tightened it and it got a lot quieter
That is good to hear. I have heard that arm can cause hard starting also if the valve is slightly open/

Thats just shims on top of the valve.You need to replace it.Thats not a big problem.Dont let it sound better
