- A video to answer a question I am asked regularly.. "Will the BM nose fit the HKM fuselage"?
Well, I am going to give it a go and here I explain my thoughts behind which way I will go with this. Stay tuned for some serious surgery.

It's clearly evidenced in your videos that you like an engineering challenge. This is an engineering challenge and its pushing the boundaries of model making. I really hope you do this and I'm looking forward to watching the build series. Great stuff Nige 👏👏
Wow, thank you!
Dear Nigel,
Excellent presentation of your thoughts there. I think many people appreciate this kind of reasoned out plan.
Good luck to you!
Regards,
Z
Really looking forward to seeing how this project progresses, cheers Nigel :)
You and me both!
This kind of engineering analysis is exactly the kind of video I really enjoy. I look forward to learning more about the various details of the decision making process, as you proceed with whichever path you eventually choose to follow. Cheers, and take care.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wish you every success, I only hope you will be happy enough with the end result to say, hand on heart, it was worth it.
You certainly have your work cut out for you, Dr Frankenstein. Really good that you obviously love a challenge. It is going to be amazing following this project and I will be rooting for you, Nige. Have at it. 🍀 Huge kudos to Annie and Wendy for being positively big hearted and so supportive of you. 😊
Thanks to Annie and Wendy ! Very interesting video - I tend to do things like this on tanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow this is going to be very interesting to watch you do this. Looking forward to seeing you get started on this .
You and me both!
Hi Nigel. Nice project. I will be waiting for the next steps. Maybe this year (i hope so .. lol) i get startet with the HK Lanc 1/32. Greetings from Mexico, a special hug for Jess .. .from Thomas.
Thanks Nigel, very informative and will be using this for Grand Slam Lanc and you given me an idea for the HK 1st Lanc release which is to turn it into the Tallboy Lanc. Cheers
Well nigel, this is where you’re engineering background will stand you in good stead 👍😎👌
Whatever you decide to do, Nige, I'm sure you'll do an amazing job, have a little faith. This is one build I will enjoy, although aircraft are not my thing. You can do it.
Hi nigel I've started the border models 1,32 lancaster what a great kit your videos are very helpful so keep up the great videos
Glad to help
Looks like you will have fun with this one Nige. Will be looking forward to seeing this one.
Fingers crossed!
All your videos are very interesting no matter the subject
Looking forward to this developing Nigel. I should imagine your engineering background will be useful.👏👍🤔
Combining two models, using the best of both kits, is something I used to do all the time in the 1960s. The quality of kits back then varied so much that, often, when comparing the two models, in order to make the most accurate mineature plane, you swapped parts.
This is fascinating. Be interesting to see how you do it. 👍
And as with the current Scharnhorst hull conversions,we all know Nige will pull this one off too,to perfection as always, not enough hours in the day unfortunately nige?,cheers
That’s a lot of work Nigel,, good luck
I will agree with that👍👍
Nigel, not sure if you are a sucker for punishment, but man you do like challenges, and I know that you can do it. I for one would be keenly following these changes if you proceed not that I would be doing them. Like you previously said, it’s only a plastic kit albeit an expensive one. Good luck mate.
Very interesting experiment Nigel!
My long term plan is kitbashing my HK and Border Lancs into two displays. One inflight with an emphasis on external detail (so will primarily use Border wings/fuselage/canopy parts), and one cutaway, wheels down with full interior and engines (but not outer wing) using the HK fuselage and wing framing but Border interior detail and Merlin engines.
What are your thoughts? Cheers Chris
Sounds great
This is going to be good….
Nice video and the removing and thinning down of the kits is not a problem, and just wondered what is the measured height if you cut the nose off on the vertical frame mark halfway between the nose turret and cockpit area?
Sorry, I don't understand your question? The thinning down could be a problem as they are not the same shape.
In the printed diagrams you used to show the dimensions of the two front panels I was wondering what the height and profile would be if you cut the tip off halfway between the front turret bay and the cockpit opening where it looks like a vertical frame brace is

Thats exactly what I'm doing.. I explained that in the video, where I talk about the superior turret and the form of the nose.
ok my bad 😁@@NigelsModellingBench
An interesting video.
Glad you enjoyed it
but will the one nose mount to the other nose?
On the other hand... Without Border Models, there would be no Lancaster... So...
Hiya Nige
Hello!!
@NigelsModellingBench liking your ideas so far Nige
Thanks Annie.. just hope I can pull it off??
@NigelsModellingBench I'm sure you can, have faith in yourself Nige
Yeah, I know lol. Bit miserable tonight.. went to my friends funeral today.
