ROAD TRIP DAY 6 | Our First Time at Dollywood | Pigeon Forge, TN

- 🎢 Hold on to your hats, folks, because Day 6 of our Summer 2023 Road Trip on 'Keeping Up in Disney' is an absolute rollercoaster of excitement! 🌟 While we're taking a break from Disney for this leg of our journey, we're diving headfirst into the thrilling world of theme parks as we embark on our first-ever visit to the legendary Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee!
🤩 Jamie might have experienced the Dollywood magic before, but for Arie, it's a dream come true! With eagerness in our hearts and adventure in our souls, we couldn't wait to explore this incredible theme park, lovingly created, owned, and operated by the one and only Dolly Parton herself. From the moment we stepped in, we were captivated by the immaculate grounds, stunning scenery, and the promise of unforgettable moments.
🏞️ Surrounded by the picturesque Tennessee mountains, Dollywood boasts an impressive lineup of attractions, including world-class roller coasters, delicious eats (hello, famous cinnamon bread!), dazzling shows, and so much more. Join us as we take you on a whirlwind tour of this theme park paradise!
🏠 We explored a replica of Dolly's childhood home, discovered the beauty of an Eagle Sanctuary, and found serenity at a charming chapel nestled within the park's boundaries.
🎢 But the highlight of our day had to be the rides! Together, we braved Blazing Fury, embarked on the Firechaser Express, and took on a couple of thrilling flat rides. And let's not forget the adrenaline-pumping NEW addition to Dollywood, the Big Bear Mountain Coaster, a Vekoma family launch coaster that opened in 2023. Jamie faced her fears head-on, and Arie conquered it with enthusiasm!
🌄 Arie also had a solo adventure, conquering Mystery Mine, Wild Eagle, Thunderhead, and Lightning Rod, an incredible RMC hybrid coaster with a mountainous launch hill. Speaking of Lightning Rod, it's getting a thrilling update for 2024!
🍔 Of course, we couldn't pass up some delicious eats at Red's Diner, indulging in mouthwatering burgers and crispy fries. But the icing on the cake (or should we say, the cinnamon on the bread?) was getting our hands on Dollywood's world-famous cinnamon bread. Trust us, it's a must-try!
🎉 Our day at Dollywood was an absolute blast, and we're already dreaming of returning to experience the park's seasonal magic. From Spring Fest to Halloween and Christmas events, Dollywood offers something for everyone.

Love your dress Jaime! Looks very beautiful, and perfect for Dollywood. Dollywood is so fun! OOF sorry your stuff got wet on Daredevil Falls. It's so fun but very wet, lol! My motion sickness keeps me from riding most of the rides, but glad you both got to experience some fun rides. Tim and Katie did Wild Eagle when we went and it looked amazing. Love all the Christmas stuff! Great footage of the train ride! One of my favorites! The Cinnamon Bread was SO DELICIOUS! I got it on our last day (my birthday) and it was the perfect birthday gift. Thank you so much Kaylee! Dollywood was really fun. It was Arie’s first time but Jamie has been before! Daredevil falls was worth it and totally on us for not removing those articles and putting them somewhere safe lol. But they were absolutely soaked and didn’t even dry til like the next day 😂
Jamie doesn’t do many of the thrill rides or anything crazy so we always have to make sure to balance our time between thrill rides Arie wants to try and ones we can both do lol. The train was such a cool experience and a really neat way to see all of Dollywood.

Daredevil Falls is no joke!! 😂 The drop on that one is approximately 15° sharper than on the OG Splash Mountain at Disney, and it's definitely a soaker. That one was one-and-done for me, but Blazing Fury we rode three or four times over the course of our two days in the park. Quite possibly one of my favorite dark ride/roller coaster hybrids. Those little steeplechase rides (bouncing bears on tracks) are always so fun, and so rare in the US! Honestly, the entirety of Wildwood Grove is just an all-around thematic masterpiece. Jealous that y'all got to visit after Big Bear Mountain officially opened....we missed it by a little less than a year 🥲 But I hope you did grab a ride on Dragonflier before you left the area, Arie! It's short, but it's a ton of fun! Thunderhead is a BEAST 🤩 16:10 I wouldn't lose too much sleep over the Lightning Rod renovations...the park is exchanging the LSM launch mechanism for a high-speed lift, which they swear up and down will result in the same ride experience with less downtime. Whether or not this turns out to be true is anyone's guess, but high-speed lifts can get you going pretty fast if they're built right. Lightning Rod wasn't my favorite coaster in the park, but we enjoyed our ride well enough and I'm sure we'll enjoy the new, post-2024 version just as much. Mmmmmm....Cinnamon Bread. 😁 You know you've had a full, fun day when you walk away with a red face from the sun haha great video, you guys! ✨
It really is no joke! Thank you for sharing that fact, because I did not know that, but it sure did look intimidating and I wanted to think it was a bit more intense than splash 😂 I can’t believe we did it twice in a row… but with no lines and on any ride when asked “Do you wanna go again?” it’s very hard to say no. That’s like a coaster enthusiasts dream for many rides! But not daredevil falls lol, oh well - ce la vie!
Blazing fury was awesome, wish we had been able to get another ride in but there was so much to do and we did have a brief spell of rain during the day for about an hour where many outdoor coasters weren’t running so we waited around for big bear lol. Wild wood grove is so cool and is such a nice area - we hope you’re able to get back to Dollywood soon to try BBM. It is fantastic! I’ll have to get in Dragonflier next time, I did really want to b it it wasn’t one of my top coasters that I wanted to check off credits for. Thunderhead was amazing. Truly blew me away, it was better than mystic Timbers in my opinion after riding them a few days apart.
I’m still excited to ride Lightning rod again with the high speed lift! The ride itself after the lift was still exhilarating and will still be a standout. The cinnamon bread was so good. So so good. Now I’m dreaming of it…
