Depression is a b***h, believe me - I'm living through it (not without some difficulty). I'm glad you found a way to mellow out on a little trip ... I did a similar thing about 30 years ago - I drove all over the center of New Zealand's north island (almost 2000 km from Friday to Monday - lotta driving, yet somehow calming). Make the most of your free time buddy, be it ever so fleeting - sometimes an hr of nothing is as good as a weekend.
That's good; I can't travel out West very much anymore and I enjoy seeing stuff that I physically can't see. I initially started watching your U-Haul van build and now I am hooked. My theory is when you are off and not on call I always turn my phone off. I have a Walmart burner phone that family can call for emergency or I am looking at those text communicators for family.
my good man.....depression is nothing to be ashamed of... after driving trucks of various types ( the last being refuse) my career came to a grinding halt after having a major seizure ( due to strokes i didnt know i'd had) after 35 years on the road the gov't took my commercial driving license away, I take great therapy in watching your videos as i am working on my cargo conversion ; after driving well over 2 million miles I now intend on driving on my terms to places i want to go. You sir are an inspiration to many whether u know it or not keep'er between the white lines brother and drive safe in your travels as u take us all along with you 🚛🚛🚛

Salaried plus on call is not a good combination. I used to know someone who was a store manager who was salaried and on call and she routinely (every week) would end up with 60-80 hour workweeks. She was basically making less than everyone else just due to the number of hours. I swore I would never do that combo. If I'm on call, it better be hourly and a good hourly. If I'm salaried, there is a set amount if time I will work and not a second more.

I can relate to the itchy feet and feeling tied down. You're exactly right about being patient while being proactive about your future. Def keep the job if it pays enough to get out of debt. Then save enough to keep you on the road. You have transferable skills that you can use on the road if running low on cash. There are vitamins and supplements and diets that can help with depression..been there! I'm sure there many people out there that can relate. Ever been to the northeast? Have you thought about doing long haul trucking❔️ When l drove l had to pinch myself , l was actually getting paid for doing it 😂. The bedroom was supplied & now some have kitchens. Seems like a perfect fit .lm out of it now, but would do it with my wife and kitty in a Heart beat. Good luck young feller 😊. At 20 I was in the same position I chose a wife and family and we took them on our adventures that was the single greatest decision I ever made making a family is in fact our purpose period 🫵🤠
