    A few things that I forgot to note in the video: Inevitably, some of you are going to notice how hilariously bad the Paiyon listing is on their Amazon and Chinese webpage. The language is about as "Engrish" as it gets! Honestly? I think it's kinda funny. Meanwhile...
    In this review, I made it sound like the Paiyons lay the smack down on the Klipsch RP600Ms. In reality, that's not the case.. Sure, the Paiyons seem to have a higher performance ceiling, but the Klipsch sounds like the more mature product by direct comparison. The same can be said for the PSBs. I also need to re-enforce how much more forgiving the Klipsch RP600Ms are than the Paiyon P5s when it comes to reproducing the sound of poorly recorded material. To the people say that the RP600M is a ruthlessly revealing product... Bless you. My sweet, summer children.

      Hi Sean, I started following your youtube videos about a month ago. I find your videos very helpful & objective; I learned a lot by watching them. Thank you very much. I decided to buy an IOTAVX SA3 integrated amp after watching your review, and I like it so much better than my Onkyo TX-8140. The normal boomy base disappeared and the lows are significantly cleaner to me, However, I'm still not happy with the treble and vocal, I guess I need to try a different pair of speakers. I currently have a pair of CCB-8 bookshelf and VTF-3 MK5 subwoofer from Hsu Research. I listen to Smooth Jazz on internet radio all day long, and in low to moderate volume. I like crisp & transparent treble and full, warm vocal (I think, I'm not sure these are the right words to describe the sounds I like). The CCB-8 sounds a little boring to me, and I cannot stand playing music at higher volume for more than 10 minutes... I watched your reviews on Triangle Borea BR03, as well as Paiyon P4 2.0. I am very tempted to try them. Given my listening preferences and the newly acquired IOTAVX SA3 amp, which speaker do you think I should buy? Also, would it significantly enhance my listening experiences, if I were to add IOTAVX PA3 to the future setup? Thank you so much :)

    It is important to reveal the test particulars. Something as simple as a grill being on or off tells you something about driver and crossover issues. Grills usually veil the sound, but on a choice few, it helps the speaker’s performance. I really enjoy this comparative that you do at the end. By taking a known/evaluated speaker and compare it to the new guy on the block is a good thing. Always enjoyable Sean! Press on! 😊👏😀🤘

    Good day Sean, i have these speakers for last 4 mos, they are very good, i can compare them to my Assend Sierra 1, they hold very good. I put them against my Sierra 2, not bad at all, but clarity of Sierra is better. I compared them with Elac 6.2 , Elac inferior in terms of clarity, even in low end i cannot say which one is better. These speakers much better than Wharfedale Diamond 10.2 which i own as well. Overall, these Paiyon are very well made and engineered speakers. Sean , your review is right on. And finally, i just discovered- Paiyon P4 2.0 based on Alesis Monitor 1 MK2. Please note, these speakers do "open up" after 40-60 hrs, grill must be on.

    Thanks once again for another one of your excellent reviews. I am relocating in September to Thailand and am undecided on even to start a new modest system especially when I am leaving a great one behind. Chinese manufacturers will make purchasing and shipping very attractive to me. Amazon, sadly doesn't make delivering to Thailand a pure hassle and impossible with the added rates. There's an abundance of excellent high fidelity stores in Singapore and I might just opt to purchasing from there.
    Keep up the great work!

    Another hidden gem is klipsch rp160m are only 340 on amazon. I have the rp600 and 160's and it's very hard to tell the difference and the 160 includes a plinth . I bought my 600s first then saw that deal on 160s and scooped them up. For 200 bucks less a set kinda wished I went with the 160s from the start. Only downside is they dont have the copper accent rings. Great videos!

    Another great review! I couldn't help notice the chunky power cable you were running with the SA3 shown during the intro. What is it and is it worthwhile upgrading from the stock IEC lead?

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a custom power cable from AMR that's designed to go with their own gear. I used it all the time though, as it's far easier than switching power cables AND gear throughout the reviewing process. As for whether or not it's worth buying an aftermarket cable for the SA3: If you're curious, I'd recommend checking out the Pangea AC-9 off Audio Advisor. It's pretty much the only power cable that I recommend to my viewers.

    This doesn't always work but GENERALLY speaking I can usually take one look at a product and tell if it's worth my time and money. I knew this speaker would be a winner the moment I saw it. The finish is incredibly gorgeous. I'm so tired of flat and piano black finishes I can hardly see straight. Whatever it is, that finish is a real eye catcher. The logo is a nice touch, too. Usually, when a company sweats those kind of details the big things are taken care of as well. This seems to be the case here. Still, your review (one of your best, in my view) was a bit of a surprise. Not only are there going to be some overtime hours at Amazon, Klipsch fans everywhere are jumping off bridges after cancelling their subscriptions to Zero Fidelity. May I remind everyone that a speaker's sole purpose is to accurately reproduce sound. I, too, own speakers that are very unforgiving to poor recordings. So be it. I'm not sure how a speaker can make poor recordings sound better and yet still shine when the recording engineers get it right. This was an outstanding nuts and bolts review. No need to back pedal. I have no idea how a speaker sounds more "mature." (From your later comment) Sort of reminds me of when Guttenberg said a speaker "does beauty." Considering the Klipsch pedigree, these Asian wonders DID put a beatdown on them. Like you said, normally you wouldn't even give them a second thought let alone a review. While I'm not going to take any leaps, my jaw is still on the floor. Further considering your expertise in the field of audio and your well deserved reputation for telling it like it is with no bull****, these little David's just slayed some very revered Goliath's. Way cool, if you ask me.

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mike. Unlike most of the reviews that I recently published, I was able to get this done without any external stress factors popping up during the filming process. And yep, Paiyon did a fantastic job with these speakers. As for the beat-down comment: It's all about what you want. Some people will prefer the sound of PSB or Klipsch, while others will gravitate towards the Paiyon sound. As always - it's a matter of priority.

    Great review. I've been an occasional ChinaHiFi observer in the past and have direct imported some gear from China before the country where I live, Australia, made it uneconomical to do so.
    Sometimes though, I wish you talked a bit slower Sean. I try hard to get the details right when I explore your videos because few reviewers give any kind of sincerity with their opinions and most have little real knowledge of sound/audio. You're the exception. Because you talk so fast and there is so much in every sentence, I have to pause the videos several times to get the whole presentation. That's on me and I'm getting on in years. I get that. Please though, give an old guy a break, especially on the bang-for-buck gear that I might actually be able to afford.
    Bottom line: I really enjoy your videos. Cheers.

    Very interesting. I bet they might sound good with my HH Scott 340B, or even my Allo Volt+ stepped attenuator, and a NOS DAC, or a turntable. I find it interesting that these are the most efficient speakers they sell. Even the big towers, and the 8 inch bookshelf speakers are less efficient. Their designs seem to be all over the map actually. Did you look at them? But hey, it sounds like they put out something that will give a serious taste of HiFi for very little money. I would love to know what the other one's they make sound like. Might be some real gems in there?

    So basically this is a far more Hiend resolving speaker that benefits from good equipment and good recordings over the 600m and p5. They both look toy like compared to the Paiyons. So the price is really the only indication its a budget speaker like those 2 but its not in practice, its not for the same buyer as the typical 600m and p5 casuals...and those drivers look like Moral drivers....this sounds like a seasoned veterans type of speaker not a novice audiophile..the Chinese love tube gear to, they are 90db bet they really sing with a push pull e84 or a single ended kt120-150 amp or a class A amp...😉

    Hi Sean, Firstly love your show... Love to see a review on Paiyon P8 : ($482 ) The fascination here being it looks to be pretty much a Harbeth 30.1 ($6495) Clone.. Shares Same cabinet dimentions, same Driver Sizes (8" &1") Seas Drivers allegedly. Both use similar type MDF. Weight almost the same.. Crossover point is different 3.5 vs 2.9 KHZ. On the China-Hifi Audio site Paiyon talk about BBC Design. Looks a dead ringer as a clone of Harbeth 30.1(Which itself is a LS5/9 Clone ... How close does it get to the Holy Grail? Anyone heard the P8 ? Love to hear some feedback...

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ok. So this reviewer is going to answer that question for you: On good gear and with good recordings, the P5's can in some ways compete with the Buchardt S300's or the Totem Acoustic Sky's. Let's focus on the Buchardt comparison first. It'll sound more lively than the S300's (albeit not as smooth), a bit more revealing in the midrange (although not as full/warm - particularly in the upper mids), and have a bit more dynamic slam (at the expense of the low-end gravitas of the S300). The resolution is on par with the S300's. The S300's are a bit easier to work with and are far more giving of poor recordings. Now let's talk about how they stack up to the Totem Acoustic Sky:
      Overall, both speakers reside on the forward side of neutral - featuring a spiked up top end and a thin sounding upper midrange. The Sky has a few distinct advantages. It's quicker, lays down a wider soundstsage, is a bit more tonally accurate, and a bit more resolute than the Paiyon. The Paiyons larger size allows the speaker to deliver a fuller sense of scale along with stronger, deeper bass output. The Paiyon also seems to be slightly more forgiving of poor recordings and less critical of room placement.

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most speakers at this price will drop significantly in value after 3 years. I'm talking 60-70% off of MSRP, assuming the gear is in good condition. Doesn't matter if its from a 'reputable' firm or not. The only difference here is that it may take longer for you to sell off your speakers at a loss than with the others.

    • @bryanwilliams3665
      @bryanwilliams3665 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Resale? In reality the cheaper the speaker is, the better its resale.. These Paiyon's at $300 , if you sold them 2 yrs later for $100 ($200 drop) you haven't lost anything for heavens sake... You have had $200 worth out of them!... Try buying a $2,000 speaker and see how you go getting $1,800 2 years later (Good Luck !) You will rip up $1,000 .
      Same as the resale on a Toyota will be far better than a Mercedes or Lamborghini... At the bottom end of the market you get "More than you pay for".. Middle of market: You get what you pay for.. Top end of Market.. Basically a rip off , not playing the ' value for money card' You pay 500% more for for a 5% improvement. But the Rich can afford it and with that comes the Bragging Rights and the prestige of the badge... but it is not value for money.. The Paiyon clearly is ...
