    Genuinely, this is the best/most detailed esk8 remote tutorial video I've ever watched!
    Please, do this for other electric skateboard remotes!

    Very informative, thank you! Just got the new V3s and was wondering what that "wheel speed" setting does for hub motor setups like mine. It came set at 52 btw. Thanks again!

    Thanks, this is much more entertaining than reading a manual! Waiting for board to arrive (maybe by 2024) but just noticed forward and brake is reversed compared to Boosted boards controller. I have to be careful with that one!!

      I am glad it was entertaining because it was dull AF to research and script. I prefer adlibbing but with this much info I wanted to make sure it was correct and concise.

      Be careful. If you go into reverse and forget you did and then try to take off, you will wake up lying face down on the pavement.

  • @ManifoldSky
    @ManifoldSky ปีที่แล้ว

    Several things need to be noted/corrected here. First, changing speed modes will NOT affect battery usage. Only speed and acceleration will.Traveling at 15kph in speed mode 2 uses the exact same amount of battery as speed mode 4. You 100% DO need to adjust the wheel speed on the Hurricane when you switch between wheel sizes. The wheel speed setting for the 175mm pneumatics is NOT the same as the wheel seed setting for the 90mm urethanes! And it is not 68.
    Meepo may claim that cruise control is for testing only, but that certainly is not the stance of Ling Yi, the makes of the ESC and remote. Riding in it is just fine, and there is a reason it is called "cruse control" and not "testing mode"!
    Lastly, this video leaves out speed mode bumping, another useful feature of Ling Yi remotes/ESCs. If out are in a given speed mode, you can temporarily bump it up to the next higher setting without actually changing the mode by quickly releasing the throttle wheel and immediately engaging it. The board will operate oil the next higher speed mode until you release it and brake. You can stack these, and bump from speed more 1 all the way to speed mode 4 with three quick flicks of the thumb wheel.

  • @SteveSiz
    @SteveSiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I actually do the complete opposite than this video shows, in which I put my thumb on the trigger. I find that putting my thumb in the middle of the wheel is very unstable, especially on my Hurricane on 3 or 4. I can quickly slightly move my thumb and throw my ass off from that position. So I lock it holding the wheel down to the remote housing. I let go first to slow, then pull my thumb up off the housing to give me leverage to brake.

    I heard the m4 remote has major problems and can be dangerously faulty. My mini 2 just shipped to me with the m4s. What is the difference between the two remotes?

    • @EzERiders
      @EzERiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard great things about the new remote. ONe of the things I heard is that it makes slowing down smoother. When I crashed (see last couple of vids) it was from speed wobbles when I tried to slow down. Once I am able to ride again (which should be after a couple more weeks of PT) I am going to order the new remote and will make a video about the differences. Here is the only vid I have found on the new remot (5s). th-cam.com/video/Zn0oBTm12UU/w-d-xo.html

      That stinks! Logistics are FUBAR everywhere. My board took 50 days to deliver. Don't stress too much, it will deliver. I would not discourage you from ordering a spare now in order to prevent having to wait if it happens again. I went my whole life without and ESK8 but now if I had to go a week without riding it would make me sad.

    Why shouldnt you use Cruise Control? What is it for?

    • @EzERiders
      @EzERiders  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an argued point but the manufacturer advises not to use the cc while riding for safety. Basically surface variations and changes in slant (uphill downhill) the actual speed of the board can change drastically and immediately catching the rider off guard and could cause a crash. As far as I understand it (and could be wrong) the cc sets a power level not a speed level so you don't actually maintain X mph. If the surface switches to an incline the board can gain speed significantly and if the rider is not in control of the speed wheel this could cause a crash. The feature is for testing, so if you are working on your board and want to test the spin of the wheels you can flip it over and set the CC. This would be useful after changing tires, hubs, pullies or when trying to balance the wheels.
