Gresham's Law: bad money drives out good. US experienced this in 1964 when silver was removed from the coinage. The public responded by pulling all the 90% silver coins from circulation and hoarding them. Silver did continue for a few years in the 40% Kennedy half dollar.
My mom worked in a bank back then. She was the OG of silver stacking and took all of them from the till and replaced them with paper. Bank manager did not care one bit.

i have just sold my small (2500 ounces) etf with HSBC and moved it to Sprott, so hopefully that will reduce the amount they can use as leverage. Sprott says 'unencumbered' silver. A small step but if more did the same it could make a difference.
AG seems to be the monsters kryptonite.

Sellers called in first , my wife was producing silvet jewrlery items,bracletts,penddents rings , ornate pins and she brought a bag of her scrap silver pieces. We went to the metals dealers booth got itall weighed and she got paid cash on the stop.decades later i can see in the fututrer I grocery stores which have customer service counters for cash cards , money orders, will have silver exchange transactions.present your silver get a cash card load with proceeds. .use that card for store purchases

The US prior to the Civil War had a bimetallism standard with the dollar valued at a ratio of 15:1 gold/silver. Market conditions unfortunately do not remain stable and that 15:1 was upset a few times during which either gold or silver fled the country. Foreign silver coins such as the Spanish silver dollar circulated freely in America. Congress finally outlawed the use of foreign coins via the Coinage Act of 1857.

I think it's unlikely that gold or silver will ever again be used as currency unless the internet goes away. It's a digital world and people are accustomed to the simplicity of digital payments. Governments will steer people to CBDCs but in the end it will be a Bitcoin only world

I believe the most manipulated material is GOLD, it has far higher value, I am not a silver fan, I am waiting to sell all my silver, it has never made me a penny only lost value, here in Britain with VAT you would need to buy large volumes at the exact right time to make any profit, it is volatile as a working material so boom and bust would impact on silvers demand. I think we have the americans to blame for this push on silver, every precious metals channel seems to go on and on about how silver will go to the moon, I say crap, it won't, that is my honest opinion, only Gold is worth holding for the long term to protect your purchasing power and even then it is key when you decide to sell to realise its value in what ever currency at that time?
