King's X were formed in 1979 and their first album came out in 1988. They've had 26 albums - including live records and re-releases. This song was from their 2nd Record - way back in the early days. Yeah, they lived in Katy Texas for decades.
Thee best band EVER!!!Criminally underrated. Been going since 1980 still going have a ton of albums and have influenced so many bands but should have been massive
I urge everyone to listen to the live version off their "Best Of" album. Makes me cry everytime. : th-cam.com/video/rFi4ZL0Fizs/w-d-xo.html King's X is one of my favorite bands even though they never had a hit. Glad to see people still checking them out.
King's X is one of my favorite bands of all time. The song is about him hearing his Grandmother late at night while he was lying in his bed. His Grandmother was a Pentecostal Holiness Church lady who would pray loudly and sing Gospel songs upstairs in her room at night. The little clapping/singing break in the middle of the song represents the Church Music he grew up hearing. The Texas Flag is because the Band was based out of Katy, Texas.
King's X is a veteran rock trio formed in Missouri in 1979... They moved to Houston, Texas and were signed in the 80's and remained the same line-up for their entire career since '85 - dUg Pinnick (vocals & bass), Ty Tabor (guitar & vocals) and Jerry Gaskill (drums & vocals)... King's X released their 13th and latest album in 2022 - 'Three sides of one'... King's X got a lot of acclaim for decades but never scored a commercial hit album sadly... They were a mix of hard rock, funk, prog rock and soul music. King's X was mistakenly labeled a Christian rock band and they had to clarify that they were not. They were originally called The Edge... then, Sneak Preview... and became King's X in 1985 after moving to Texas. King's X was signed to Atlantic Records through Megaforce Records (the label that originally signed Metallica... Anthrax... Testament...) and released their debut album 'Out of the silent planet' in 1988 ... Their 2nd album "Gretchen goes to Nebraska" in 1989 didn't sell much better but is hailed as one of the great rock albums of the 80's w/ songs like - 'Over my head'... 'Summerland'... 3rd album "Faith hope love" did well in 1990 and gave King's X some increased promotion w/ the single "It's love". Hopes were high for their 4th self-titled "King's X" album in 1992 but it failed in the wake of the 90's grunge rock scene (Despite members of Pearl Jam being their fans)... 5th album 'Dogman' in 1994 was a return to form but sales were only somewhat better w/ the single 'Dogman'... 6th album 'Ear Candy' in 1996 was the last for Atlantic Records... King's X went to smaller record labels after that. Metal Blade Records signed King's X in 1998 and released the album 'Tape head'... a very basic rock record, followed by "Please come home Mr. Bulbous" (2000) and 'Manic Moonlight' (2001)... In 2003, they recorded their songs dating back to before they were named King's X and released the album 'Black like Sunday'... A double live album 'Live all over the place' was released in 2005. They signed to progressive rock label InsideOut Music and released 'Ogre tones' (2005) and 'XV' (2008)... However, King's X were hit w/ setbacks after drummer Jerry Gaskill suffered a heart attack in 2012, and again in 2014 as they canceled tour plans. King's X returned to tour in 2015 but a new album was delayed until 2022 which was 'Three sides of one'... Bassist/ vocalist dUg Pinnick (who turns 74 yrs of age this year) suggested that it might be the band's last album but has recently hinted that more music will be coming from King's X (Ty Tabor is 62... Jerry Gaskill is 66)
YES!!!!!!!! King's X, finally! King's X = GOAT. Criminally underrated and extremely talented. The sound they get from just three people... AMAZING. Great reaction! Summerland, Black Flag, and It's Love, also GREAT songs.
Grandma makes this video for me! She has that young soul!’ Really appreciate your reaction! This is one of the most criminally underrated bands of the 1980’s!!
Always great to see a King's X reaction. As others have already said, one of the most vastly underrated bands of the last few decades. I first heard King's X when they supported the band Anthrax on tour over the pond here in the UK way back in 1989 when I was only 16 years old. I hadn't heard them before then, but they are still one the the greatest support bands I've seen after 36 years of going to live gigs since I was 15 in 1988. I couldn't believe how tight sounding they were for a three piece (this was a couple of years before I first saw Primus and I sadly never got to see Rush). Always had a soft spot for King's X ever since. Superb musicians and Doug's vocals are just incredible.
Thanks for this. This was one of the best bands back in the 90s. They had 3 or 4 great albums. Very talented. Religious themes but they didn't force their viewpoint. I saw them in Georgetown Washington D.C . back in those days. They absolutely killed it live especially the singer. OMG. Check out their song "It's love". Great talent!!
Still rocking to this day (this video is from 1989, the live footage was filmed right here in Newark, New Jersey!). In fact I have the whole show up on my channel (shameless plug). Always great to see new people giving them a shot... and at shows we see three generations of fans now ! (they have been together over 40 years!)
Thanks for doing my request. I knew you ladies would like them. Yes, they are from Texas, Austin I think but not sure. This was from the late 80s. The singer, Doug Pinninck, went from a Mohawk to short blonde dreads to being bald now. They are still around putting out an album last year after taking a long hiatus as their drummer was recovering from a stroke. Their mix of rock, blues, gospel, metal and funk makes them unique. Other songs to check out is Summerland, Pray, King, Rock Pile and Pretend.
They’re actually each from very different places. Ty’s from Jackson, Mississippi, Jerry’s from somewhere in New Jersey, and Doug grew up in the town I currently call home: Joliet, Illinois. But Houston, Texas has been their home base ever since they got together.
I first heard kings x in 2002. They're definitely not mainstream, but they're really good. If I remember right there's one song they have called "shoes". The harmonies in it are so good.. I like them cause while they're clearly rock they can keep you tapping your toes as well as provide the rock edge but with a bit of a soulful groove depending on the song you're listening to. 😊
With 90 milion views check out 10 year old Amira Willighagen singing O Mio Babbino Caro with the orchestra of conductor Andre Rieu. It is the same stage, orchestra and conductor Emma Kok sang with. You already reacted to Amira when she was older. She was the girl who sang opera. In this video she is only 10 years old. Amira Willighagen won Hollands Got Talent at the age of 9. She never had singing lessons. She learned to sing opera from watching TH-cam. The 90 million views are a re-count as the video was deleted from TH-cam by accident and reuploaded again so the real viewer count is much higher. In total all of Amiras videos have 1.5 billion views. Search TH-cam for "Amira O Mio Babbino Caro Andre Rieu" P.s. It will blow your mind what voice comes out that tiny body.
Why no Kate Bush reactions? I would recommend-The Sensual World. This Women’s Work. Cloudbursting. Watch only the original videos. They were all directed by Kate Bush. The original video for Running Up The Hill is stunning.
These guys aren't new. They have a lot of chops and always have. Their problem is that they got themselves tagged as a Christian rock band, and that poured cold water on that party. Apparently, their parents neglected to tell them the quickest way to alienate yourself is to start spewing politics and/or religion publicly. Everyone is most certainly entitled to their own opinions, but that doesnt mean you need to ram it down others throats. Here endeth the lesson.
They were tagged as a Christian rock band because one of the members was in one before starting the band, but King’s X has never been a Christian rock band. They didn’t hit it big because normies believe everything they read and repeat it in comments sections.
Kings x is a Christian rock band beautiful ladies and and they had a few great albums in the 90s that all I know about them myself. Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️♥️
Kings x are NOT a Christian band. The band members all reject that claim. Their first four albums were spiritually themed but definitely not Christian. I had the pleasure of meeting these guys way back in 1989 in London and they were the most unaffected, humble dudes you could meet. They are known as the rock bands favourite band. Pearl Jam,Soundgarden,Smashing Pumpkins to name but a few, named Kings X as a major influence on them. They were once called a cross between The Beatles and Metallica!!
A claim denied by the band 🤷 they were all involved in Christian music before the formation of KINGS X but are adamant they are not a Christian rock band
I get a kick out of you 3 ladys and your reactions Donna seems to be a closet rocker who would have fun at a concert people watching , Kathy always seems to be looking for a manly chest and Lulu loves the long hair and fashion Keep having fun ladies. 😜
Perhaps the most criminaly underrated band of all time.

Ty Tabor (the guitarist) is the master of resting in an unrest. The chords he rests in has to be resolved. Then he does it.

I grew up on King's X in the 80's and 90's. Saw them several times live. An incredible live performance
King's X live is the best antidepressant. They make each and every person in the audience so happy to be alive and there.
YES!!!!!!!! King's X, finally! King's X = GOAT. Criminally underrated and extremely talented. The sound they get from just three people... AMAZING. Great reaction! Summerland, Black Flag, and It's Love, also GREAT songs.

Gretchen Goes To Nebraska!!! ❤🤘🏽🤘🏽 1989! This song and more are on this classic album.

One of the GREAT bands!
Gotta hit "It's Love" next.

I love King's X. A friend of mine tours with them. She does their merchandise.
Awesome
They had a great ballad called Goldilox! Check that out.🍻🤟👏😊
Skunk Anansie are a similar band. I love both of them.

I think Donna should go old school and play "I Think I Love You" by the Partridge Family for the younger ladies.
Kings X is a band that should be much bigger than they are!!&! Period!!&! And yes, TEXAS REPRESENT!!&! 🤠👍
Iam loving Kathy's comments 😂
I saw Kings X a lot live. They really are incredible musicians. And an LGBT singer at that time had to be rough in hard rock. Respect! 👏🤟🍻
Great reaction ladies!
Stunning band I've followed since the 80's! From Wales, UK x
Good band, haven't listened to them in years! I believe they are from Missouri ladies; Springfield I believe.
Donna likes it, and I like Donna!
Never heard this one before.

The Christian community even rejected and condemned Doug Pinnick when he came out as gay.
