Making building materials from egg shells is sustainable AND it won an award? If they really wanted a shot at sustainability, they'd use the eggshells as fertilizer instead of bricks. This is like that crazy idea of growing corn to fuel our cars.

My vegetables were experiencing blossom rot (a calcium deficiency which inhibits the growth of the fruit), and I saved up my mate's eggshells in an open bag so they dried, and pulverized them in a blender and worked the powder into the soil a little. That was several years ago, and no more blossom rot, and no consequential time or money spent..
