** UPDATE **
In the video I had issues balancing the balanced modulator. I have added some capacitance to either side of the bridge as shown in this updated schematic:

With careful adjustment back and forth between the trimmer cap and the balance pot I have managed much better results:

Thank you for putting this together. It's very close to what I had been working out in my head. Watching you do this convinced me to go ahead and buy that KX2 and abandon my brain.
