Great video! Am indeed curious if lag can be minimized. My own exeperience shows that is could be the Lego software used. Perhaps a 3rd party software solves this issue. Another thing I'd like to know, can the motors now be used as a sensor using the absolute positioning? Keep it up!
Yes, the motors can be used as a sensor. They have a little friction, though. I think @Pybricks will run on this hub at some point. That will reduce the lag.
You are great! What a beautiful review! I've got a couple of questions: - Can you connect two hubs of the 51515 via bluetooth for large projects? - Can you also use the Powered Up Technic Hub motors for the 51515 hub? The connectors seem the same ... And I can also imagine that it is possible to link this hub to each other via bluetooth and to control everything from the software program of the 51515. Is this correct, or does it fail to link and exchange? - I assume that there will be extension cables for the motors, then that limited length doesn't seem like a problem anymore, right? Thanks in advance for the response!
- not that I know. Only one hub connected at a time for the moment. - not with LEGO firmware. As soon as the guys at Pybricks have their port ready, it will be possible.
@@AntonsMindstorms Actually you can use the lego powered up motors with the new mindstorms hub out of the box with lego software! No third parties needed!
I think pretty much every aspect of the new system is an upgrade over the previous systems except for the removal of daisy chaining. Why do you think LEGO removed such a useful functionality?
1.Did you try to download your program into a Hub? Maybe connection only between Hub and gamepad without laptop in the middle will be faster (smaller lag)? 2. Does the program stay in Hub memory after power off an on?
1.) I don't think you can control the hub with just the controller. You still need the computer. Atleast I wasn't able to do it. 2.) You can stream the program to your hub or download it to the hub. If you downloaded it to the hub you can also start it after you powered off and on and without the need of a computer or smartphone. You can save 20 programs to your hub.

Thanks for the video, I did try the Mindstorms app right after watching it on the Spike Prime set I’ve got. And to my surprise it works great. I could control my spike prime robot with a PS4 controller via an iPad, and without much lag. I did had to change the firmware that isn’t compatible with the Spike prime app afterwards. It was a jump in the deep but I couldn’t resist to test. But Spike prime asks to update the firmware back to the spike prime firmware on connecting. So if you plan to switch programs you’ll need to change firmware back and forth but it is possible.
