I said weeks ago that Kulusevski would be used a lot more in future as a striker/false 9. He works hard and can finish well given chances. He’s not a typical striker but he is versatile and can play across the front line. He can hold the ball up as we saw in fixtures last season most memorably against Luton after Bissouma had been sent off. I think his being played as a striker against Sheffield United was very much a deliberate play by Ange.
Is he explosive enough? Is he clinical enough? He is too beefy for full backs which combined with his elusive, eloquent turns makes him a handful out wide- would he have the space and the balance to maintain possession under a Lewis Dunk or a Virgil ?
I have my doubts.
I'm more concerned about the lack of a creative mid. We desperately need Will Smallbone and yet not linked anywhere!!!!!
@@samscholfield5720 if you watch his goals v Sheffield United on the final day of the season, I think that he can be clinical. One of the goals was a typical striker’s goal of not needing to look to see the goal but finishing in the corner.
I think that he would drop deeper and allow players past him. He wouldn’t always be going against bigger centre backs but I do think he has strength which can’t be undervalued and good balance. I think he is an option even if I don’t know that he should be our striker week in, week out. I do think he will play many more games in that position though in future seasons. Will be interesting to see what he does from here but I can understand the reservations that you have about him.

The most frustrating part about kulu is the fact that he is fantastic at shooting. And just never does it when out wide. Against Sheffield he was basically forced to shoot due to his position and boom, he bagged some goals.
Teddy was a legend, he left for money (not on a free) to go to Utd and when he went to West Ham we did not consider them rivals and he was passed it!

Sorry, Sir B. Szymanski - no. Garcia - no. We're not spending £25m on a GK when our current one only cost £17M. George Abbott - hell yes! 👋👋 Toney would be good at the right price. Big chunk, to write off, for FFP if the price is high. I.e. if we pay £60M, and he stays for 4 years, it'll cost £14M per annum against FFP. Is that sensible? I'm conflicted on the talent v cost scenario for him. You're not going to get much of a sale price, for a 32 year-old (at the end of the 4 year write down period), to go back into FFP. Tough one.
Good point about Toney… who would you go for as a 9 that would be more financially appealing?
@@barnabyslater_ I’d make Deki the 9, then sign Doue, David, and Eze. Imagine the flexibility from those 4, plus Sonny, Werner, Johnno, & Moore. Sell Richy.
Only 2 other positions to fix then - left back & DM. I’d sell 1 of, if not both, Biss & Rodri. Put the funds, generated from that sale, or 2, into an international quality “6”. Then, recruit another, young, LB. I’d keep dependable Ben as left CB cover & keep Phillips in house.

The thing I don't understand about the Greenwood deal is why OM would agree to the terms? Huge fee plus a massive sell-on clause for Utd for a player who scored 8 goals in 33 La Liga matches and comes with all that baggage. Strange deal for sure.

@@barnabyslater_ At this point we should get Eze in my opinion. He would be a useful addition to our midfield. Then a striker, Toney seems to be the guy most people want but I am not convinced he is worth it. I'd go for David because it allows us to get a third solid player in the door. In defence we have what we need, no point in getting another centre back as Philips is back at the club now. We cant do it all in one go so I'd be content with spence and reguilon as backup on the sides, not ideal but we cant buy 8 players each window when we need quality, thats simply not possible, not for any club really.

@@barnabyslater_ I just think we already have good midfield options and these two players don't look any better than what we already have, we've brought in Bergvall and Gray, I think the money will be better spent now on a winger and forward.
Desire Doué and Eze are the two players I'd make the clubs priority.
I’d be happy with Toney but personally would prefer Johnathan David younger quicker, good passer and consistent goal scorer.

About a true number 9 you forget Kane had the premiership record of headed goals in one season for the premiership in his last season at Spurs ehen after so many years at Spurs getting poor service ( just like England right now ) Our best header of the ball at the club is swivel neck Richie who when he is played as a true number 9. Poor guy got terrible service for headed goal chances the majority of the time the chief culprit of this was maddison his hit low and hope routine rarely l came off. Son's ego got in the way at the beginning of the season trying to take the place of Harry Kane on the score sheet. He often didn't pass when he should had and got in Richs space. Then he (Son) went into the middle and failed miserably. When towards the end when he was fit ( Richie) and allowed to play most of the game he was on fire. Instead of coming on for the last five minutes of a game. I love Son but he has many faults as a player known to be the most selfish player in football terms. You can see the veneer crack on several occasions. I understand the mind set having a sister in law from that region.. Tonic is a Arsenal fan and you know what happened last time we had a Woolwich Wanders fan as our striker.. 😮. As for Toni as a human being well l certainly would not let in my house. The first thing he did last when coming back was cheat. Also l wonder how the student feels about all this.
