The knotless snell is the true snell. All the others have unnecessary loops and knots. This hook will never cone off. Also kudos for using a recurve hook, and having the trace coming through the right direction. Well filmed. Excellent
Simply the best knot tying video I ever watched. Try watching this video on a 65 inch OLED or any good TV and you will see why I say this is the best. The clarity and attention to detail is just unbeatable. Excellent job.
Excellent tutorial! The visibility of the green line, the slower pace, close-up view, and NO TALKING makes for the best knot-tying tutorial I've seen so far. Thanks!
*These floats do what they say they do **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they come on and off easily and can be adjusted in seconds to adjust to the depth of the water you are fishing in. Used these with trout magnet lures and did really well with them in the stream!*
Damn.....I thought I had it down..... Knowing ONE way to snell. Then I find this video. Lol. That's why I love fishing.... It's a life lesson that no matter what you THINK you know.... There's always something more to learn.
It’s amazing even at the age of 60 and first started fishing when my mom took me at 5 years old to the local lake and using a cane pole for sunnies and watching my mom tie a hook on I was intrigued with knots and fishing and tried to learn as many as I could and years later as a recreational fisherman and then commercial fisherman I’m still amazed that you never stop learning and after watching your videos I’m hooked on learning so many new knots or better ways to tie my own traditional knots. Thanks for your wealth of knowledge and passion for your knowledge and expertise!
This is by far the best knot tying tutorial I’ve seen. Clear, easy to follow, moves at just the right pace, no unnecessary chatter...just great. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I have 10 spools of unopened 20 year old 14lb mono that my wife brought home from a garage sale. Too old to use for fishing, but perfect for knot tying practice. Guess what I’ll be doing this winter?
I have seen many snell knots on hooks , but always wondred which type of snell, does not allow any line to lay on its coils, rather ,completely underneath the coils. I see its the Whip Finish Knot. Good on ya!
Wow. Excellent quality and amazing camera work . After watching a ton of poorly filmed videos that don’t show what’s going on very well , this video is a breath of fresh air Thank you Liked and subbed
I prefer to use the Silly Snell knot for eye hooks (number 6). Because the short end is not clamped like in other knots, but near the eye. This way it does not interfere with the baits, there is more space on the hook. Thank you for your tutorial!
When should i be using different ones? Is it as simple as pick one and stick with it or are there different scenarios where one is better than another?
Out of my own curiosity, I noticed some of theses have the reaps over the tag end and some have them under the tag end. Is there and advantage of one vs the other?
Alot of it is personal preference, and ease of tying. I think the traditional snell would be the strongest and most reliable, but I have yet to strength test them.
Fishing Explained I have always used the traditional method, But is is exceedingly difficult when using a hook with a bait keeper on it like the VMC heavy flipping hook. This is why I’m looking into different ways of doing it
I think for bass fishing you would rarely exceed the strength of most of these snell knots. I have caught plenty of large carp and catfish with simpler snells.
K K The knotless seems fine when there’s pressure on it, but I can see it visibly loosen a tiny bit when there’s no pull on it. Maybe that’s not a problem, but it scares me a little.
That was pretty good! Never knew there were so many ways to snell a hook! L always used the first one all my life, and never lost a big fish because it broke the knot! But now going to try a few of these new ones!
Good video .. but the traditional snell is stronger if you make the wraps stsrting from the bight of the hook, wrapping towards the eye. The snell is drawn tight by pulling the tag end .. rather than the standing end By test wrapping towards the eye is stronger .. and stronger than any snell I have tested, including the uni

The egg knot double locks your line. Brilliant once you have mastered it.
No, #3 is the true snell. There's an easier way to tie it if you're using a leader. Egg loop is a variation. Number 7 is usually called the nail knot.

No talking appeals to a universal audience. No need for subtitles.

Thanks for this video! How strong is the knotless knot? I want a super strong but quick way to snell a hook. THanks!
It's not bad, I wouldn't use it if I was targeting the fish of a lifetime, though.

@@LimitedGunnerGM Agree. I found knotless knot is the easiest to tie a bait-holder snell hook, and it seems to be strong enough too.

That's the way I make mine and agree it's incredibly strong.
