@@griffinhamm7783 Here's the thing. The Power star from the Devil Mario universe is absolutely insane, so giving SMBZ one will basically make him insanely OP. The Power star from the SMBZ universe functions as it does in the games, so the Devil Mario one is much more potent, broken, and lasting.

So Devil Mario took the one that was hovering above and took the other from Luigi, leaving the green clad plumber with one instead of two. And he then proceeded to give his last power star to SMBZ Mario.
Here is what I like about this Parallel Clash series and its tie ins with the Power Star Universe and that SMBZ Mario's interference if you think about it, actually changed the whole course of the Power Star story. Original Power Star 2 - Because SMBZ Mario wasn't there, Devil Mario slaughtered every single toad that came in his way Original Power Star 3 - Luigi got knocked out before Devil Mario took the Power Star - Luigi and Devil Mario had a whole 1on1 fight with the toads around them unaware of what was happening Original Power Star 4 - Luigi is once again knocked out - And this is the most important part of the plotline, Luigi's willingness to give up trying to save his brother to save the universe even if it meant killing him "Your ambission won't come to pass I AM WILLING TO RISK EVERYTHING TO STOP YOU" Because of SMBZ Mario coming into the fray, the events had changed. Power Star 2 - Because Devil Mario was occupied fighting SMBZ Mario, some of the toads lore wise actually managed to survive the onslaught Power Star 3 - Because of SMBZ Mario, Luigi took much less bumps from Devil Mario which prevented him from getting knocked out - Because some of the toads survived in Power Star 2 thanks to SMBZ Mario, they arrived to help Luigi and SMBZ Mario when in the original Power Star 3, they weren't Power Star 4 - Because of SMBZ Mario's contribution, not only was Luigi less injured, his goal of saving his brother had not changed, whereas in the original, he stopped holding back and changed his goal into killing his own brother, this one, Luigi still saw hope "I don't know who or what Mario you are, BUT PLEASE DEFEAT AND SAVE MY BROTHER MARIO FROM BOO'S RAID" Big Difference, Original Power Star 4 is about Luigi finally coming into an acceptance that there was no more saving his brother from the Boos, leaving him no choice but to try and kill his own brother. Power Star 4 with SMBZ Mario, is Luigi still holding onto hope that his brother can still be saved. Summary OG Power Star 4 was a story of coming into acceptance, while Power Star 4 (SMBZ Interference) was about still clinging into hope.
This animation is godly, but I gotta point out my favorite sequence was around the 2:20 mark. SMBZ Mario tries to make Devil Mario weaker with a mini shroom, but accidentally hits a toad. However, SMBZ quickly realizes a new opening and instead buffs one of the toads while keeping Devil's attention, leading to a moment where he actually pins Devil down and the Toads do more than just be fodder. That sequence plays into amazing battle instincts and adaptability from SMBZ vs Devil's raw power.
@@BestJumperCB3 I'll be honest I thought he hit the same one twice until I replayed it the fact these scenes move so fast so quickly I had to slow the video down as much as possible to see that whole mushroom interaction because the mega mushroom really just comes out of nowhere during the exchange of blows but I do like how smbz Mario played mind games with devil Mario throwing the mini first to put devil on guard so he preemptively dodges the mega mushroom and then throwing the poison one afterwards which he doesn't dodge in time because smbz got a few free hits in while devil was paying attention to the mega toad it's all so fluid and swift and honestly seeing that devil dodges the mini and gets affected (albeit briefly) to the poison mushroom it shows how despite its physical strength advantage over basically everything that's not Luigi and smbz Mario he still has the same weaknesses Mario would have which definitely gives smbz Mario the edge in this fight despite being able to hold their own out the gate with the usage of power ups and the like gives them an unpredictability which allowed devil to get put on the ropes the way he did which is just so cool

Smbz Mario’s endurance really shines at 3:27, he’s back at base power facing a much stronger devil Mario and despite being outclassed he recovers from devil Mario’s combos almost instantly
1:39 Oh _FUCK!_ I _JUST_ realized that's when Peach gives Luigi the Star she had in Power Star 3! Good to know we have an exact timeframe of events here and that the final part of this will generally line up with Power Star 4.
I never thought the likes of Power Star or SMBZ could be beat in terms of how metal they are, but this easily exceeds them. It's the tiny details you notice only after rewatching the video multiple times. SMBZ Mario's battle instincts are comparable to that of a Saiyan, as the fight progressed so did his skills, he effectively used each powerup and changed his tactics based on the damage he received and how much danger Luigi is in, which explained why his performance dropped when using the metal cap. Luigi wouldn't survive long and Mario did everything to put himself between Luigi and Devil Mario. Luigi was able to synchronize with Mario almost instantly, both tanked hits for eachother and seemed to know when to strike in what could only be described as a hypersonic battle This animation also perfectly shows Devil Mario's fighting style. Because so many boo's are possessing Mario they can think a hundred thoughts versus one, and unlike a normal human they dont know about anatomical limits. Hence why Devil Mario seems to use a form similar to Taekwondo and kickboxing. He kicks, sweeps, flips, things that would tear our own muscles apart and so we subconsciously avoid. He aims for vitals and the gore or intensity don't stagger him, which means he can perfectly chain a combo, demoralize enemies and rinse and repeat. Yoshi panicked and had his head severed, which shocked the other Toads and allowed Devil Mario to chain his combo indefinitely. He purposefully gunned after Luigi knowing Mario would use himself as a shield. Devil Mario is a tactical genius and no trick will work twice on him. Words don't do this enough justice, well done.
I like to think the fact SMBZ Mario has such huge BIQ and adaptability is thanks to the struggles with Mecha Sonic. After all it was a completely different and new force Mario had to face in the Mushroom kingdom.
One small detail i love that no one seems to have mentioned is when devil mario is slaughtering all the toads after being poisoned and stomped is smbz mario realizing thatfor as powerful as the hammer suit is, he needed to be able to take a heck of a hit. Thus used the metal cap, if only to buy time to deal with what ever devil mario was pulling out now
Also, SMBZ Mario is leagues stronger than Devil mario's base without power stars since SMBZ Mario is keeping up with Devil mario Powered up with 2 power stars. SMBZ Mario is keeping up with Devil mario with JUST power ups, thats crazy
Also. I know others have mentioned it, but i adore the fact that luigi Dosn't hesitate when smbz mario jumps in during the sword fight. Its not 'his' brother, but damn the two immediately fall in sync with each other. Also upon a rewatch, anyone notice that at 1:46 the boos look to be trying the same trick they used on PS Mario on SMBZ mario? They disarmed SMBZ Mario, when they emerged from PS Mario. Then with Luigi fighting, the two boos targeted SMBZ mario in what i think is an attempt to drag another Mario to their side. Difference being this mario isn't asleep as he swats them away to focus on the actual threat.
@@Kitsuneofthemoon remember this, what SMBZ Mario had in the last scene was not a power star (The star along side his cape and Tanooki), People think its a power star but i think thats a Invincible star, The one he used in SMBZ with Sonic for a short time to go Super form without the stars and emeralds Edit: With this in mind, We might see Super mario fused with the Cape and Tanooki(Golden tanooki?) And the Invincible star could be a last resort surprise attack

This animation is really good! Also, I never noticed this until I slowed the video down, but you can see the Yoshi at 2:57 begin to panic after witnessing Devil Mario take out the first group of Toads. A nice touch of detail to emphasize that even the background characters are on high alert of the current threat.
Not to mention Mario has his own Power Star in what's left of his inventory along with the one Luigi transfers over to him at the end. And if that SMBZ-native Power Star's gained the same properties as the ones in this dimension, then that could prove to be a major trump card. Hell, even if not, a brief period of invincibility could easily turn things in SMBZ!Mario's favor.
@@lolrus5555 remember, canonically this entire fight lasted 5 seconds. The star is at least 10 seconds of invinciblity (10 minutes if they're as fast as this fight)

One thing I like about this animation is how SMBZ Mario actually manages to make Devil Mario visibly struggle. In the original Power Star, even when Luigi fought back at his best, Devil Mario was still in control of the fight. Here both SMBZ Mario and Luigi manage to push him to his limits forcing him to power up instead of laying a one-sided beating.
Actually Yea if you watch the video in the slowest speed there is some moments when he makes facial expressions when he sees smbz Mario like when hes done warding off Luigi's attack tanooki Mario comes in and devil Mario gives a I'm gonna end you annoyed look

This animaton hyped me up WAAY TOO MUCH! The refrences, the attention to detail, the ACTION. You did not only cooked, you made an entire 5-star meal! Great animation
dudes will see this and be like "hell yeah" Incidentally, I wasn't sure *how* the first part could be followed up since its choreography was already so intricate & fast to the point the eye could hardly see (but is rewarded greatly for rewatching & otherwise learning to keep up). Turns out the way was to up the scale with more props & by putting in the effort to animate all this environmental destruction -- and possibly even MORE detailed choreography! The pacing of each changeup makes the battle's escalation more viscerally felt than even most verses at cosmic scale can be bothered to convey tangibly. It was a nice contrast that the first part had a mostly medium-shot camera (ideal for appreciating those intricate character movements) whereas here it zooms in & out with urgency since props, setpieces, & long-distance movements dictate the flow with more aggressive spiking punctuation. The effort put into changing up backgrounds, color tints, & effect fields also paid off tremendously, and they're used at an ideal tempo, too. Some amazing half-second details: reactive facial expressions throughout, SMBZ Mario cautiously shuffle-stepping with his sword at the ready waiting for a chance to safely attack at 0:50, Luigi & SMBZ saving each other from deadly blows throughout, color tint changes during powerups/boosts, Toads & Yoshis pitching in but nervously squaring up waiting for their moment in the pillar area fight, Devil Mario's breakdance fighting attacks from both sides at 2:03, pillar being used not only as a club by Luigi but also being thrown by SMBZ a few seconds later so Devil Mario can't jump to escape Luigi's assault (the way their attacks complement each other down to taking turns keeping up momentum is UNREAL), Devil Mario having an initial flurry of ground punches that Luigi tries to interrupt before the big one (buildup & other characters trying to act instead of only gawking), SMBZ concernedly looking in Luigi's direction soon after, the SFX conveying Hammer SMBZ's counters (I think his hammer throw at Devil Mario isn't entirely conveyed though), the initial Mini Shroom missing Devil Mario & hitting a Toad, Metal SMBZ being slightly slower than the other two & having gradual cracks instead of breaking entirely at once, SMBZ reactively reaching toward his hit leg at 3:29... All this adds up to more substance than most much-longer animations can muster! I do wonder if it'd be better appreciated if it was even just 25% slower, but I'm happy the detail is there to begin with. I think either you or perhaps one of those King of Fighters animators over on Bilibili are the best doing it today, and this is likely the best sprite animation to come out in 2024 thus far. Keep up the astounding work; I can hardly wait for Part 3 (here's to a happy ending)!

@@justabulletjustaboxofammo3817 I don't think TH-cam lets me link off-site, but you can find many from a YT playlist called "KOF Flash Animations." Highlights include Bai Xiong's Soul of the Mark (the most popular/foundational one; also some of these names are machine translated), Domino_Bertha's Dark Dynasty, Orange_cc's Crisis Clone, and Dance Temple Sdjsyx's KoF Kai. Many of these animators have other works on their Bilibili channels. Some take a while to get going: Kai's first 10 or so are skippable. Some end on iffy notes or are unfinished: Dark Dynasty's last ep follows up excellent earlier battles with just a run down a turret hallway as the final one. They have usually untranslated wordy plots, though I think they're often charming & easy enough to follow. But even on average the choreography in that community is amazingly intricate & playful. Characters tend to actively exchange & react to blows at every moment as opposed to only rigidly taking turns doing combos. Long comment but I gotta say there's a lotta cool underseen stuff happening in vs sprite animations if you dig past the rough fledgling attempts & creepy kids channels that tend to flood YT search results. StridingSpark & Revenant are two others coming into their own very nicely recently. Though I'm most excited by Str45x & company, virtually peerless for the sheer detail & reactiveness of their choreography atm.

This was absolutely amazing, there's so many easy-to-miss details throughout the entire video that make it feel so rewarding to notice them throughout every re-watch, the toads' guts spilling out from time to time, the critical hits from SMBZ depicted in real time, shit, I didn't even catch SMBZ Mario accidentally shrinking a Toad with the mini mushroom the first time around, I watched the first part as much as I did solely cause the animation was astounding and the concept was cool, but I think this might surpass that solely so I'm able to catch whatever other background details were hidden throughout the whole thing, awesome job, Str45x!

1:56, 2:04 *The toads in the background don't know how or when to enter the fight, they can't find the opening to get in without accidentally attacking Luigi xD* 2:50 Is that a reference to Metallix from the SMBZ remaster? :0 3:14 *I love the reference to Mario protecting Luigi from Evil Mario's strong blows because otherwise what happened in Power Star would happen, where in his original universe Evil Mario won and amazed Luigi with those blows and that not even Mario can resist them enough and can only counter them with his Metal Cap* (and even then it is not enough because Evil Mario breaks his metal shield) 3:16 I don't know if it was on purpose or intentional, but if you look closely, Evil Mario, in addition to being strong enough (to fight Metal Mario), is also quite fast. Notice that Evil Mario does a lot more jumps on rocks than Mario, It is shown that he is not only fast enough, but also strong enough to fight both of them. Mario and Luigi are in trouble :c 3:20 *And I also like that reference, where Luigi may not be strong enough to stop evil Mario's strong blows but he can move at very high speeds.* 4:11 At this moment he has the same power that he had in Power Star, so much power that he could explode his enemies with his sight... If he gets one more star, they'll have no chance, but they still have hope. Remember that in the original universe, Evil Mario became almost a god, not because of one more star, but because of several that his army of Evil Toads gathered from the destroyed kingdom, combining all the stars gathered into one giant star that Evil Mario absorbed... Fortunately, this Evil Mario doesn't have an army... (or does he? Given that SMBZ Mario was still keeping up with Devil Mario at his strongest and even somewhat holding him off despite losing the metal cap, it’s very likely that whatever advantages Devil Mario had vanished when SMBZ Mario got one single Power Star. SMBZ Mario also still has an invincibility star, an item that briefly gave him the power to exceed Metallix with 4 Chaos Emeralds and push Sonic into a Pseudo Super form, a cape that in SMBZ let him fully fly unrestricted, and a leaf that he might mix with the invincibility star to make a golden Tanuki Suit that granted unrestricted invincibility. Well… SMBZ Mario has options to outmaneuver, possibly overpower, and tank through what Devil Mario can now dish out.

This is an authentic masterpiece!!! The amount of details is astonishing and the animation is so fluid!!! I'm so impatient for the third part!!! This is an unbelievable and incredibly spectacular tribute to SMBZ and Power Star creators, who is so visible the inspiration they bring you to the world of sprite animation. I know they would we so proud of the legacy they left behind and they NEED to see the still infinite love and inspiration they provoked to you and many more animators. Each time this becomes impressive, Devil Mario's power is so strong that it is impressive, especially when he fights against Luigi and Mario (SMBZ) More amazing is when Mario (SMBZ) uses the powerups (I think that's what it's called)
More impresive is also the fact SMBZ Mario is keeping up with Devil mario and Luigi JUST using Power ups, remember that Devil mario and Luigi both are fighting using *Power stars*
I'm so hyped for part 3 that I keep coming back to this, I REALLY love how you made Mario from SMBZ actually fight the way he would in SMBZ but also make it so it's still shown that he's following the rules of the Power Star universe, the critical attack being sped up and being in real time due to him being in the power star universe is by far one of the coolest and nicest details ever

well lookie what we got here! an epic high speed fight? now this is something I can rock with, seriously, just from this, I can tell you are underrated as an animator, you need way more credit!
3:02 If you pay attention you will see that in a microsecond he made a Toad put his fist through the chest of his other friend, and then kill them both. If you see it again in slow speed you will see that things happen that escape your sight due to the speed of the combat.
*Oh for god's sake, I didn't expect this second part to be so damn EPIC.... :Q_* I am totally impressed with your work because you took the trouble to make drawn effects on several occasions (effects that resemble anime) like this (0:45)
It's nice watching again a great duo fighting together like Mario and Luigi. It show that Devil Mario is a formidable warrior and he is a beast at combat.
For Mario a bro is always a bro regardless of timeline or universe, and everything in this animation is epic ranging from SMBZ Mario protecting PS Luigi, the groundbreak, the same strategy from basilisx being used against devil mario and PS Luigi giving his power star to SMBZ Mario.
Even PS Luigi understood in a instant that SMBZ Mario was on his side and tried to attack in combo with him (The sword part) and getting devil mario off him (When luigi slows down time), they really are brother beyond time and space
it's not really a slow down time, but instead it's something called "bullet time" that anything and anyone around the character appears to stand still or moving slow, sonic and mecha sonic in ep 7 demonstrate this

That’s some impressive animation where it is very smooth and fluidity with amazing detail of action with these characters who made a great comeback, you did a fantastic job with the great effort and affect in the two videos that I am looking forward to see more of your amazing content on TH-cam. I surely hope that the Sprite animation community is getting more attention and improved over the years that I would tell them to keep up with the great work. @@griffinhamm7783 Here's the thing. The Power star from the Devil Mario universe is absolutely insane, so giving SMBZ one will basically make him insanely OP. The Power star from the SMBZ universe functions as it does in the games, so the Devil Mario one is much more potent, broken, and lasting.

So Devil Mario took the one that was hovering above and took the other from Luigi, leaving the green clad plumber with one instead of two.
And he then proceeded to give his last power star to SMBZ Mario.
Here is what I like about this Parallel Clash series and its tie ins with the Power Star Universe and that SMBZ Mario's interference if you think about it, actually changed the whole course of the Power Star story.
Original Power Star 2
- Because SMBZ Mario wasn't there, Devil Mario slaughtered every single toad that came in his way
Original Power Star 3
- Luigi got knocked out before Devil Mario took the Power Star
- Luigi and Devil Mario had a whole 1on1 fight with the toads around them unaware of what was happening
Original Power Star 4
- Luigi is once again knocked out
- And this is the most important part of the plotline, Luigi's willingness to give up trying to save his brother to save the universe even if it meant killing him "Your ambission won't come to pass I AM WILLING TO RISK EVERYTHING TO STOP YOU"
Because of SMBZ Mario coming into the fray, the events had changed.
Power Star 2
- Because Devil Mario was occupied fighting SMBZ Mario, some of the toads lore wise actually managed to survive the onslaught
Power Star 3
- Because of SMBZ Mario, Luigi took much less bumps from Devil Mario which prevented him from getting knocked out
- Because some of the toads survived in Power Star 2 thanks to SMBZ Mario, they arrived to help Luigi and SMBZ Mario when in the original Power Star 3, they weren't
Power Star 4
- Because of SMBZ Mario's contribution, not only was Luigi less injured, his goal of saving his brother had not changed, whereas in the original, he stopped holding back and changed his goal into killing his own brother, this one, Luigi still saw hope "I don't know who or what Mario you are, BUT PLEASE DEFEAT AND SAVE MY BROTHER MARIO FROM BOO'S RAID"
Big Difference, Original Power Star 4 is about Luigi finally coming into an acceptance that there was no more saving his brother from the Boos, leaving him no choice but to try and kill his own brother. Power Star 4 with SMBZ Mario, is Luigi still holding onto hope that his brother can still be saved.
Summary OG Power Star 4 was a story of coming into acceptance, while Power Star 4 (SMBZ Interference) was about still clinging into hope.
Cool analysis of the situation brought about by SMBZ Mario.

This animation is godly, but I gotta point out my favorite sequence was around the 2:20 mark. SMBZ Mario tries to make Devil Mario weaker with a mini shroom, but accidentally hits a toad. However, SMBZ quickly realizes a new opening and instead buffs one of the toads while keeping Devil's attention, leading to a moment where he actually pins Devil down and the Toads do more than just be fodder. That sequence plays into amazing battle instincts and adaptability from SMBZ vs Devil's raw power.
Also, in the same scene, 'Giant' Toad accidentally stomps on 'Mini' Toad after getting the Mega Mushroom immediately (Love little details like that).
@@BestJumperCB3 I'll be honest I thought he hit the same one twice until I replayed it the fact these scenes move so fast so quickly I had to slow the video down as much as possible to see that whole mushroom interaction because the mega mushroom really just comes out of nowhere during the exchange of blows but I do like how smbz Mario played mind games with devil Mario throwing the mini first to put devil on guard so he preemptively dodges the mega mushroom and then throwing the poison one afterwards which he doesn't dodge in time because smbz got a few free hits in while devil was paying attention to the mega toad it's all so fluid and swift and honestly seeing that devil dodges the mini and gets affected (albeit briefly) to the poison mushroom it shows how despite its physical strength advantage over basically everything that's not Luigi and smbz Mario he still has the same weaknesses Mario would have which definitely gives smbz Mario the edge in this fight despite being able to hold their own out the gate with the usage of power ups and the like gives them an unpredictability which allowed devil to get put on the ropes the way he did which is just so cool

I never thought the likes of Power Star or SMBZ could be beat in terms of how metal they are, but this easily exceeds them. It's the tiny details you notice only after rewatching the video multiple times.
SMBZ Mario's battle instincts are comparable to that of a Saiyan, as the fight progressed so did his skills, he effectively used each powerup and changed his tactics based on the damage he received and how much danger Luigi is in, which explained why his performance dropped when using the metal cap. Luigi wouldn't survive long and Mario did everything to put himself between Luigi and Devil Mario.
Luigi was able to synchronize with Mario almost instantly, both tanked hits for eachother and seemed to know when to strike in what could only be described as a hypersonic battle
This animation also perfectly shows Devil Mario's fighting style. Because so many boo's are possessing Mario they can think a hundred thoughts versus one, and unlike a normal human they dont know about anatomical limits. Hence why Devil Mario seems to use a form similar to Taekwondo and kickboxing. He kicks, sweeps, flips, things that would tear our own muscles apart and so we subconsciously avoid. He aims for vitals and the gore or intensity don't stagger him, which means he can perfectly chain a combo, demoralize enemies and rinse and repeat. Yoshi panicked and had his head severed, which shocked the other Toads and allowed Devil Mario to chain his combo indefinitely. He purposefully gunned after Luigi knowing Mario would use himself as a shield. Devil Mario is a tactical genius and no trick will work twice on him.
Words don't do this enough justice, well done.
I like to think the fact SMBZ Mario has such huge BIQ and adaptability is thanks to the struggles with Mecha Sonic. After all it was a completely different and new force Mario had to face in the Mushroom kingdom.
One small detail i love that no one seems to have mentioned is when devil mario is slaughtering all the toads after being poisoned and stomped is smbz mario realizing thatfor as powerful as the hammer suit is, he needed to be able to take a heck of a hit. Thus used the metal cap, if only to buy time to deal with what ever devil mario was pulling out now
Also, SMBZ Mario is leagues stronger than Devil mario's base without power stars since SMBZ Mario is keeping up with Devil mario Powered up with 2 power stars. SMBZ Mario is keeping up with Devil mario with JUST power ups, thats crazy
Also. I know others have mentioned it, but i adore the fact that luigi Dosn't hesitate when smbz mario jumps in during the sword fight. Its not 'his' brother, but damn the two immediately fall in sync with each other.
Also upon a rewatch, anyone notice that at 1:46 the boos look to be trying the same trick they used on PS Mario on SMBZ mario? They disarmed SMBZ Mario, when they emerged from PS Mario. Then with Luigi fighting, the two boos targeted SMBZ mario in what i think is an attempt to drag another Mario to their side. Difference being this mario isn't asleep as he swats them away to focus on the actual threat.

Edit: With this in mind, We might see Super mario fused with the Cape and Tanooki(Golden tanooki?) And the Invincible star could be a last resort surprise attack

Meanwhile, SMBZ Mario was keeping up with the likes of Sonic and Shadow in fights. So his base speed was already insane.
This animation is really good! Also, I never noticed this until I slowed the video down, but you can see the Yoshi at 2:57 begin to panic after witnessing Devil Mario take out the first group of Toads. A nice touch of detail to emphasize that even the background characters are on high alert of the current threat.

Considering Mario has yet to use some of his major trump card power ups like the cape....those boos are gonna regret not being able to die
Not to mention Mario has his own Power Star in what's left of his inventory along with the one Luigi transfers over to him at the end. And if that SMBZ-native Power Star's gained the same properties as the ones in this dimension, then that could prove to be a major trump card.
Hell, even if not, a brief period of invincibility could easily turn things in SMBZ!Mario's favor.

One thing I like about this animation is how SMBZ Mario actually manages to make Devil Mario visibly struggle.
In the original Power Star, even when Luigi fought back at his best, Devil Mario was still in control of the fight. Here both SMBZ Mario and Luigi manage to push him to his limits forcing him to power up instead of laying a one-sided beating.

Incidentally, I wasn't sure *how* the first part could be followed up since its choreography was already so intricate & fast to the point the eye could hardly see (but is rewarded greatly for rewatching & otherwise learning to keep up). Turns out the way was to up the scale with more props & by putting in the effort to animate all this environmental destruction -- and possibly even MORE detailed choreography! The pacing of each changeup makes the battle's escalation more viscerally felt than even most verses at cosmic scale can be bothered to convey tangibly. It was a nice contrast that the first part had a mostly medium-shot camera (ideal for appreciating those intricate character movements) whereas here it zooms in & out with urgency since props, setpieces, & long-distance movements dictate the flow with more aggressive spiking punctuation. The effort put into changing up backgrounds, color tints, & effect fields also paid off tremendously, and they're used at an ideal tempo, too.
Some amazing half-second details: reactive facial expressions throughout, SMBZ Mario cautiously shuffle-stepping with his sword at the ready waiting for a chance to safely attack at 0:50, Luigi & SMBZ saving each other from deadly blows throughout, color tint changes during powerups/boosts, Toads & Yoshis pitching in but nervously squaring up waiting for their moment in the pillar area fight, Devil Mario's breakdance fighting attacks from both sides at 2:03, pillar being used not only as a club by Luigi but also being thrown by SMBZ a few seconds later so Devil Mario can't jump to escape Luigi's assault (the way their attacks complement each other down to taking turns keeping up momentum is UNREAL), Devil Mario having an initial flurry of ground punches that Luigi tries to interrupt before the big one (buildup & other characters trying to act instead of only gawking), SMBZ concernedly looking in Luigi's direction soon after, the SFX conveying Hammer SMBZ's counters (I think his hammer throw at Devil Mario isn't entirely conveyed though), the initial Mini Shroom missing Devil Mario & hitting a Toad, Metal SMBZ being slightly slower than the other two & having gradual cracks instead of breaking entirely at once, SMBZ reactively reaching toward his hit leg at 3:29... All this adds up to more substance than most much-longer animations can muster! I do wonder if it'd be better appreciated if it was even just 25% slower, but I'm happy the detail is there to begin with.
I think either you or perhaps one of those King of Fighters animators over on Bilibili are the best doing it today, and this is likely the best sprite animation to come out in 2024 thus far. Keep up the astounding work; I can hardly wait for Part 3 (here's to a happy ending)!

@@justabulletjustaboxofammo3817 I don't think TH-cam lets me link off-site, but you can find many from a YT playlist called "KOF Flash Animations." Highlights include Bai Xiong's Soul of the Mark (the most popular/foundational one; also some of these names are machine translated), Domino_Bertha's Dark Dynasty, Orange_cc's Crisis Clone, and Dance Temple Sdjsyx's KoF Kai. Many of these animators have other works on their Bilibili channels.
Some take a while to get going: Kai's first 10 or so are skippable. Some end on iffy notes or are unfinished: Dark Dynasty's last ep follows up excellent earlier battles with just a run down a turret hallway as the final one. They have usually untranslated wordy plots, though I think they're often charming & easy enough to follow. But even on average the choreography in that community is amazingly intricate & playful. Characters tend to actively exchange & react to blows at every moment as opposed to only rigidly taking turns doing combos.
Long comment but I gotta say there's a lotta cool underseen stuff happening in vs sprite animations if you dig past the rough fledgling attempts & creepy kids channels that tend to flood YT search results. StridingSpark & Revenant are two others coming into their own very nicely recently. Though I'm most excited by Str45x & company, virtually peerless for the sheer detail & reactiveness of their choreography atm.

This was absolutely amazing, there's so many easy-to-miss details throughout the entire video that make it feel so rewarding to notice them throughout every re-watch, the toads' guts spilling out from time to time, the critical hits from SMBZ depicted in real time, shit, I didn't even catch SMBZ Mario accidentally shrinking a Toad with the mini mushroom the first time around, I watched the first part as much as I did solely cause the animation was astounding and the concept was cool, but I think this might surpass that solely so I'm able to catch whatever other background details were hidden throughout the whole thing, awesome job, Str45x!

Given that SMBZ Mario was still keeping up with Devil Mario at his strongest and even somewhat holding him off despite losing the metal cap, it’s very likely that whatever advantages Devil Mario had vanished when SMBZ Mario got one single Power Star. SMBZ Mario also still has an invincibility star, an item that briefly gave him the power to exceed Metallix with 4 Chaos Emeralds and push Sonic into a Pseudo Super form, a cape that in SMBZ let him fully fly unrestricted, and a leaf that he might mix with the invincibility star to make a golden Tanuki Suit that granted unrestricted invincibility. Well… SMBZ Mario has options to outmaneuver, possibly overpower, and tank through what Devil Mario can now dish out.

Definitely one of the best animations I've ever seen, and even more so when it comes to Mario and Luigi fighting together, I love the pate when Mario defends Luigi without a doubt a real brother

I'm so hyped for part 3 that I keep coming back to this, I REALLY love how you made Mario from SMBZ actually fight the way he would in SMBZ but also make it so it's still shown that he's following the rules of the Power Star universe, the critical attack being sped up and being in real time due to him being in the power star universe is by far one of the coolest and nicest details ever

It's nice watching again a great duo fighting together like Mario and Luigi.
It show that Devil Mario is a formidable warrior and he is a beast at combat.
For Mario a bro is always a bro regardless of timeline or universe, and everything in this animation is epic ranging from SMBZ Mario protecting PS Luigi, the groundbreak, the same strategy from basilisx being used against devil mario and PS Luigi giving his power star to SMBZ Mario.
Even PS Luigi understood in a instant that SMBZ Mario was on his side and tried to attack in combo with him (The sword part) and getting devil mario off him (When luigi slows down time), they really are brother beyond time and space
it's not really a slow down time, but instead it's something called "bullet time" that anything and anyone around the character appears to stand still or moving slow, sonic and mecha sonic in ep 7 demonstrate this

That’s some impressive animation where it is very smooth and fluidity with amazing detail of action with these characters who made a great comeback, you did a fantastic job with the great effort and affect in the two videos that I am looking forward to see more of your amazing content on TH-cam. I surely hope that the Sprite animation community is getting more attention and improved over the years that I would tell them to keep up with the great work.
