28:42 With the Netherlands it’s the same as the UK. The Kingdom is made up of 4 constituent countries: the Netherlands (by far the biggest in both size and population, and also the only part that is located in Europe), Curacao, Aruba and Sint Maarten, which are all Caribbean islands. The country of the Netherlands also has 12 provinces.
just thought i would throw a recommendation out there in case you ever do visit the states. utah is a very beautiful state and we have some amazing national parks that look nothing like anything you can find anywhere else in the world, and northern utah is also very similar to colorado, so might be a good one to add to your list of states to visit! great vid as always
Chelyabinsk is self-named region :D Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan and Ufa is the capital of Bashkortostan (aka Bashkiria) Yekaterinburg's region goes by its old soviet name - Sverdlovsk Surgut is in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (there is 4 autonomous okrugs in Russia, they're similar to Canadian or Australian territorries but have higher population compared to them) What you tried to named Bratsk is Irkutsk :)
Interesting they included all of the Slovenian municipalities (212) in the quiz. Its also crazy we have that many municipalities, basically every town is its own municipality and they represent 5,5% of all correct answers on this quiz even though Slovenia measures only 20.000km2. Since Slovenia is unitarian and it also doesn’t have any other form of administrative divisions it would make sense to divide Slovenia into statistical regions (12) which are larger than municipalities and make more sense since it is a territories map. This quiz is insanely hard, not only because there are so many regions but also because some countries are divided into states, some into counties and some apparently into municipalities. The quiz is also not a very good representation of geography knowledge as I would probably score better than @zi8gzag just because I am from Slovenia haha.

These Endurance-Challenges/Quizzes are quite a different challenge. At one bit I couldnt even remember that Bratislava was the Capital of Slovakia. So I'm happy with my score of 637.
Probably the only person on earth I could beat in a typing test/typeracer :skull: Have you ever tested your WPM + accuracy? Much love, great vid to chill to :) Edit: Surprised you missed Irkussy (aka Irkutsk haha)
it's a shame this one doesn't have UK counties, that makes more sense for subdivisions than just using England/Scotland/NI/Wales (esp. considering it does Irish counties)
I think youre right. Now it feels like the UK is not on the same detailed level as some other countries. Same with the provinces of the Netherlands (and at least NZ as well). But at the same time it would be hard to decide which regions should be in the quiz, because every country has such a different structure.
Wow. When I was watching your typing issues, I thought for sure I would destroy your score. You beat me by 4. I am quite sure I "know " (know as in a combo of actually know, and can get just through naming enough cities in some countries) 1200-1700 of them, but the time, and pressure of doing them you eventually just collapse & start scrambling and miss some. Great score. EDIT - I also thought with all the time you spent especially early on just chatting between rounds would hurt you.... and you still beat me. I think if you just focused, you get 750
2:03 "Saskachewan - I actually spelled it correctly, last time I definitely got that wrong" - you got it wrong this time too, the quiz just accepted the wrong spelling :D. It's too funny how this keeps happening, the exact same thing happened in GeoWizard's last quiz video (with Kyrgyzstan).
North Carolina is an awesome state! Two great cities in Raleigh and Charlotte, the outer banks have some beautiful beaches, and you have the highest peak east of the Mississippi River. Such a well rounded state!
"Gwe-rero" was surprising to hear from you, because your Spanish pronunciation is usually much better than other AUS/NZ/ZA/UK-English speakers. Here's a tip that also might help with Geoguessr one day: With G before E, G is pronounced soft, like an English H. Therefore to get a hard G sound before E, a U is inserted in between and is a silent letter. However, if the U has an umlaut, it is pronounced separately as its own vowel sound. So your pronunciation of "Guerrero" would have been correct (lack of rolled RR aside) if there had been an umlaut on the U. This is similar to how umlauts are sometimes used in English, for example when an umlaut is placed on the first O of the word "cooperation" to distinguish that each vowel should be pronounced separately, and not like the vowel sound in e.g. "coop."
I’m surprised Utah wasn’t higher in his list. I think Utah is kinda a sleeper pick when it comes to states that are great to visit. It has some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.
As a college student majoring in human geography I'm satisfied with my 897 score. There's still room for improvement: I forgot Delaware and PEI, failed at some French, Italian, Austrian, Russian and Japanese places, couldn't spell many Arabic, Indian, Vietnamese and Thai names, didn't know that Singapore counts as five regions, misspelled Cape as Cap and thus not getting anything from South Africa, and didn't have time to guess African and Caribbean capitals. btw it would be great if British counties, New Zealander regions and Dutch provinces can be counted too.
I'm a little late on this but Polish regions are indeed voivodeships although we call them "województwa". Currently there's 16 although in 1975-1998 we had 49 which is waay too many in my opinion but at that point they were mostly named after cities so that would've been better for you probably. Nowadays they're mostly named after the regions they're in but if you were looking for ones that are named after cities still - you got łódzkie (from Łódź) and lubelskie (from Lublin - you're lucky that counts even though the spelling changes a bit) but there's also opolskie (from Opole). The one with Warsaw is mazowieckie so you were correct that it doesn't come from the city but the region (Mazowsze). I don't think it makes sense to give you a full list cause you can just Google that but I can give you some context: - wielkopolskie and małopolskie mean "small Polish" and "large Polish" respectively; - śląskie and dolnośląskie are "silesian" and "lower silesian" (funnily enough they're not even neighbours and lower silesian is more to the north); - pomorskie comes from "(sięgać) po morze" - "(reach) to the sea" and zachodnio-pomorskie just slaps "western" in front; - lastly "podkarpakie" means "under Karpaty" which is the name of the mountain range there. I think that's all the ones I can easily explain, others reference tribes that used to live on these lands or other stuff that requires more explaination.
You could have got much more Points in Switzerland, but you messed up Lucerne with Lausanne and then didn't thought of Zurich, Geneva, Basel, St. Gallen...
Both Virginia and West Virginia look really pretty! I haven't been, but I'd like to check out the Appalachians there. Totally agree that I think they're often overlooked by many people. I think a lot of people overlook Utah for Colorado, too. Zion, Bryce and Arches are all amazing!
