Your little Bachmann steamer: the distance between the power pickup wheels is probably not long enough to bridge a power gap in your crossover. I’m guessing the frogs (or rail sections near the frogs) in the crossover arrangement are not powered, which means you’re going to have a small dead spot that some short engines will have trouble clearing without hesitating or dropping out altogether.
the Dewitt Clinton train is even smaller than that blue steam train you have. I like all train locomotives, big or small. You see the evolution of railroading with these models.
As someone who is getting back into the hobby I have been away from for a long time the question I have about this layout is how are you operating your turnouts, I see you have a DCC controller and looks like your switch tracks are on a DC controller, I'm I seeing this correct, you are able to set it up this way, any feedback would be great, really interested in branching into DCC but still want to have my turnouts run from a DC controller accessories, is that possible, ?
How did this turn out? Also I am messing around with Inclines, helix's and hills.I am building a layout the forms upward around a Mountain ridge. Its going to be interesting because the trains will have to climb upward, then back down and around an entire ridge and mountain. When space is limited go up thats what I always say.
Thanks. I am going with 22” radius on my new layout to accommodate 6 axel Locomotives and passenger cars.
