  • Watch how to create vanity fair style lighting in a vintage-style, fine art photoshoot in my living room using speedlites. I’ll also show you how I photograph my models and dogs separately and combine them in Photoshop for these vintage portraits. I convert my living room to a temporary portrait studio using my hand-painted canvas backdrops. I’ll take you through my lighting, props, photoshoot and the final portraits all using three Canon 600EX-RT Speedlites. Learn my simple techniques for getting pro results using an inexpensive softbox, MagMod MagSphere, and V-flats.

    I am so amazed that you achieved these photos with speed lights. The normal photographic protocol is those expensive robust studio lights connected to a reasonably heavy duty power pack. The fact your self-taught is also amazing……from what I have seen of your work…..it kinda ‘Vanity Fair’ magazine type of quality…..and those types of magazines are really fussy!

    • @NicoleCarsonBonilla
      @NicoleCarsonBonilla  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you so much for the feedback! I appreciate it :) I would love to use larger strobes, but I found speedlites provide more than enough light in my home studio and they are so much lighter and convenient to work with and store.

      @@NicoleCarsonBonilla - Just a by the way…..I also watched your video on the making of backdrops, which were quite beautiful (mind you there’s a considerable amount of work involved)…..you could probably make considerable amount of money by solely making (manufacturing) pre-made backdrops for photographers with your signature label included…perhaps. If you haven’t done so already…..probably producing and filming a ‘Nicole Carson Bonilla Masterclass’ wouldn’t go astray. Great work.

      Hi Nick, thank you so much for the feedback! I bought his entire outfit from Goodwill (my local thriftstore). Beautiful images and well put together videos. I love your process in explaining things and attention to detail. I am curious to know why you used a DIY doubled diffused baffle with the softbox instead of simply using the already provided baffle? Thank you! 😊

      Hi David, I'm so glad you like my videos :) I use the extra double layers of fabric in addition to the white layer of diffusion fabric that comes with the softbox. The three layers soften the harsh light of the speedlite creating soft shadows on my model's face.
