I'd like to know a bit of info on the state of the indie bottler side from whisky baron view. I feel you dont see them often.
@@TimHoekstra as in you don't see Glenallachie Indies often?
@@TheWhiskyBaron not near me at least
@@TimHoekstra unfortunately Billy and his team stopped supplying the secondary market with casks when they took over the distillery so it's a rare and wonderful thing for Indies to get their hands on this liquid. there are definitely casks out there though so keep your eyes peeled - we may even have one coming under The Whisky Baron brand in the not too distant future...
Billy seems like one of those old guys that can talk for hours but never be boring, you can tell he loves to talk about his work. Brilliant episode lads, looking forward to the glenallachie deep dive. 👍
he has so much knowledge I think the only way anyone could get bored is if they hate chemistry and whisky. deep dive is out now Richard but also stay tuned for the interview over on The Whisky Baron as we cover more whisky things along with much more!
This was absolutely fun to watch! I was really lucky to sit in the same room at Spirit of Speyside in 2022. Will be joinging again next year, thanks to my friends Roelof and Micheal. I'm a huge fan of Mr Walker, it all started more then 10 years ago with Glen Dronach. I really love what BW had accomplished with GA and is still doing. My favourite Scotch whisky!
Thanks for the great interview!
Billy Walker is a legend and we whisky lovers have been the beneficiaries of his decades of exceptional mastery. Thank you for making this interview available. He shared SOOOO many insights in this conversation and taught me a lot over these minutes. What a wonderful and generous thing for him to do this interview and tasting with you. Well done guys!
thanks for tuning in Bud and so glad to hear you got as much out of it as we did! he truly is a phenomenal gent and we're both proud and privileged to have been able to sit down with him for so long. it's all thanks to audience members like yourself supporting us so thank you! sláinte
Amazing conversation--how fortunate I feel to have stumbled upon this (tonight here in America) just now. Wonderful work gents! Cheers!
thanks for the support Mike - we do weekly episodes and a Glenallachie deep dive just went up last night so drop us a sub and stay tuned! sláinte
Great chat with THE main man. His passion for whisky knows neh bounds. Ya can literally see it on his fave when he’s talking about his liquid. Class act.
Well done hooking the big fish fellas. 👍🥃
thanks for the support MM! he's an incredible man with endless knowledge; feel extremely privileged to have been able to film this with him. sláinte
Awesome. I love hearing all about the chemistry of whisky. Superb. More chemistry please!
Unfortunately I don't we could ever do the chemistry side of things as much justice as Billy, but we'll be sure to do another episode focusing on the science at some point soon! sláinte
WOW just WOW. Billy you absolute Legend. Thanks for sharing SO MUCH about the Distillery. I live in Oz and I can get the CS10 batch 8 or 9 at the moment and I am so looking forward to buying my first Glenallachie 10 CS knowing how much love you put into them. And to the podcast crew well done for such an entertaining and fun Podcast. The knowledge that Billy dropped in that eppisode was a whisky geeks HEAVEN!!!!
Great watch! Thanks for such good content as always.
Oh man, I'm going to have to break my rule of no drams on a school night for this one. Anticipation levels through the roof.
good stuff - rules are made to be broken after all! looking forward to seeing you in the live chat on Monday; sláinte
Fantastic Episode amigos, what a legend Billy Walker, exiting for the next chapter all the best,🤘🤘🤘
Well done, legends! What a great sit down with Billy Walker.
thanks for the support bud, glad you enjoyed it! sláinte
You 3 dudes have the best job in the world!!! And Billy is just the king. So much knowledge, I could have listened to him for hours. Poor Ian must be gutted to miss that one. I haven’t really tried much Glenallachie but can’t wait to delve into it more after watching. Another great podcast and more whisky to buy on the list.
Awesome stuff.
cannot disagree there! thanks for tuning in and I'm glad that we've got you turned onto Glenallachie - definitely one that should be on your shelves! sláinte
Absolutely!! Just won a 10 cask bottle off auction and have ordered the fino 9yr old. Cant wait.
@@gms201 nice! let us know how it goes down
Thanks for the great episode yet again! I loved to hear his expertise and loved how passionate he is about whisky even more! It's crazy to see that even you guys were speechless on that 35 year old 😅
thanks for tuning in Bence, glad you enjoyed it! the 35 truly is mind-blowing - definitely one for the collection. sláinte
Fantastic. I may have to get the ten in my September shopping list!
Finally! Billy! Looking forward to this!
I've already lived it and I'm excited! can't listen to this man enough - so much wisdom and some truly incredible drams that were shared. will we see you Monday evening when it goes live Tim?
@@TheWhiskyBaron Definitely. See you on Monday!
@@TimHoekstra nice one. have a great weekend and I'll see you in the live chat on Monday my guy 🥃 sláinte
It is meaningful, simple, understandable and professional, and it perfectly positions the product and itself in the world. Very good video again. And we can be happy to taste it! BW respect! Whiskey master - which is very rare these days.
absolutely agreed - he's a true master of his craft. thanks for watching Beno, hope to see you on the next one! sláinte
What a fantastic episode. Billy has this wonderful cheeky smile as he talks about his whiskies. Definitely adding the 10yo batch 12 to my list, though the 35 might need a lottery win!
thanks for tuning in Dave! you can really tell how passionate he is can't you - it's so infectious. great shout on the 10 and I'd start buying lottery tickets if I were you!
Exciting drop
one we've been excited about for a while now! will we see you Monday evening or will you catch up on it after?
Awesome! Thank you Mr Walker! Love the chemistry. Cant wait to try both the 10 and Fino. I imagine 35 is out of my reach.
the 10 and the fino are absolutely amazing, definitely get them onto your shelves! thanks for watching Tim, we really appreciate the support. sláinte
Well done guys. What an exceptional guest, the one and only Billy Walker.
Those 30+ year old whiskies can be exceptional, can't they? Likely won't be for my budget, but there are always tastings, and with Glenallachie there are so many well priced options, there truly is something for everyone.
Cheers!
This was fantastic, and Billy seems like such a cool fucking guy just very understated but absolutely knows his shit. Class. Eyes will be out for that 35 fur I reckon it’ll be a battle between whisky enthusiasts and the flipping bastards, hopefully good triumphs. Slainte
thanks for tuning in Hoodwiser, I'm glad you enjoyed it! he's a seriously cool guy and beyond gracious with his never-ending knowledge. definitely keep your eyes peeled for that 35 - it's one for the books! sláinte
Hi gents. Very exciting , looking forward to catching up with this episode later, as unfortunately I'm working a late shift Monday. Can you ask Mr. Billy Walker on my behalf two questions please about whisky expressions he ever made: 1) Name one release you've created to which one you've put a lot of effort and result wasn't as good as expected or even received negative feedback. 2) Whisky release took him no effort whatsoever and it became very popular among whisky enthusiasts. 😃Thanks a lot in advance.
P.S. Jake, Ian, Stevie - ask him as many questions as the whisky community watching your podcasts would ask and even more!👌 Cheers.🍻
shame we won't see you in the live chat Yury but looking forward to hearing your thoughts! unfortunately this was filmed a few weeks ago so we can't ask these questions now, however, we've got an incredible session with Billy here on Uncut and another sit down with him to be released later this year on The Whisky Baron channel, so I'm sure you'll get your questions answered one way or another! sláinte bud
@@TheWhiskyBaron cheers, I should have assumed that. All the best!
This is gonna be really interesting. Excited to hear him talk about the Meikle Toir line. The Turbo is amazing!
there's a ton of amazing stuff we discuss and some seriously cool unseen whiskies. hope you enjoy!
The man, the myth, the legend!!! Lads are delving deep into whisky lets go!!!!
buzzing for this! are you joining us as it goes live this evening Dan?
The 10YO Cask Strength is always incredible, and I think even the latest one you could get for under £70, which is such a good price. Don't show this episode to anyone from their marketing department, with you lads all saying you'd happily pay over £100 for it! True, but you're not supposed to tell them that!
ye, that was a massive error on our part! true though. and with Billy's approach to pricing of 'just be sensible', I don't think we have anything to worry about
The last time I had a 60+ ABV was, IIRC, an Aberlour A’bunadh (2013?). Back then there weren’t too many true cask strength single malts about and it was a surprise how drinkable it was without water.
the A'bunadh is a phenomenal drop - shame they messed around with pricing so much. if you enjoyed that then you have to jump on the 10Y/O cask strength releases; they're truly sensational
Superp episode👌🏻
thanks for the support Kim; it's probably my favourite to date so I'm delighted it's going down so well! new Glenallachie deep dive episode aired last night so hopefully you'll enjoy that also
OMG! Roll on to Monday. Can’t wait! ❤
will we see you in the live chat this evening Magdalena?
Well done guys yous are like kids in a sweet shop there the 35 sounds magical . Could listen to billy all day talking about extracting the flavours from wood . We spoke to him at length once at the Glasgow whisky festival lovely guy.
he's such a gent isn't he Colin! glad you enjoyed the episode - will you be adding the 35 to your collection when it's released?
@@TheWhiskyBaron he is so , the 35 will probably be out my price range hopefully get to try it somewhere tho .
@@colinmcquade29 it will be pushing my budget too I'd imagine but now that I've tried it I need to have it so will likely be making some crazy excuses to myself to rationalise the purchase!
Lovely episode, cheers gents
thanks Dirk, glad you enjoyed it! hopefully we'll see you on the next one - sláinte
Legends series! Cracking edition and tidy rags Jake. Cheers.
thanks for tuning in Tim, glad you enjoyed it!had to clean up a bit for Billy!
Top stuff. Respect is definitely due!
@@timpowles7514 you know it. we've got a Glenallachie core range deep dive episode coming next week so stay tuned!
Will do, definitely up for that.
Very nice pod!
looking forward to a great show.
thanks for tuning in Jimmy! are you going to be watching as it premieres?
@@TheWhiskyBaron Oh yes, with dram in hand.
@@jimmypaul9424 thanks for joining in Jimmy, hope you enjoyed it!
I am indeed kicking myself 😂
we'll make sure there's a next time!
Super interesting episode this one. Cheers chaps!
thanks for tuning in DD; this is probably my favourite episode yet so I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Billy's goal of perfection reminds me of one of my favorite toasts: "To the quest of the greatest whisky. May we never find it!" Slainte
Great look into Billy's mind with respect to his whiskies, wonderful listen lads 🥃🥃
Funnily enough this episode, Jake was much lass domineering than usual, how refreshing big boy 😂😂😂
However, our friend Ben did fairly well in terms of talking a lot and at times, speaking over Billy… slap him with a wet trout please 🥃🥃
I had to sit back and listen to this legend! glad you enjoyed it Jason, sláinte
I’ve listened to this interview 3 times now just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. The 1978 barrels have already been in cask for 45 years. Does that mean the 45 is getting released this year as well?
love this! in fairness I was there and I've already watched it again myself for the same reason, so I don't blame you. unsure when the 45 is getting released but you can believe I'm keeping my ear to the ground!
How on earth did you manage to score such a legend? I knew this was a quality channel 😊
we only bring you the very best Jan! lots of great people lined up later this year and next, but Billy has to be one of the (if not the) most exciting guest to date. will you be watching along with us this evening in the live comments?
Can’t wait to get the 35yr old wow 😮
What a wonderful interview! You boys really clean up well for these interviews with royalty!😅
have to clean up for the legend that is Billy Walker! thanks for tuning in Bill, glad you enjoyed it! sláinte
Nice one lads.
Question.
Will see a 10 or 12 year version of White Heather?
15yo is brilliant stuff btw Billy.
we didn't really cover anything White Heather/Lum Reek in this episode unfortunately James. there's a bit of talk on it in the new deep diver that went out last night, but I'm sorry to say I can't answer that one for you
Hi gent's, thanks for such a great episode! Very interesting one. On another hand - STOP RAISING THE PRICE OF A LOVELY WHISKY BY THINKING IT COST AROUND £100,-! The Craigellachie 10 any batch strength version usually cost under £60,- rarely up to £69,- (batch 11)!👍
sorry Yury! we got a bit excited on that one and I haven't bought a bottle in ages so was well off base. whoops..
Glad you enjoyed the episode though!
This was great. How are you going to follow this up, Jake? Something different? Maybe you could invent a time machine and get Popcorn Sutton on the show?
honestly, it's an impossibility! new episode doing a deep dive into Glenallachie went live last night so hopefully that hits the spot
looking forward to this episode .
Probably can't see it on monday 😒
it will be here whenever you're ready Erwin! shame we won't see you in the live comments but I hope you enjoy it all the same - sláinte
@@TheWhiskyBaron made it.
What a cracking episode gents
How are you feeling Ian after seeing what you missed.
@@erwinweening709 thanks Erwin, glad you enjoyed it! let us know if you want us to cover anything in the follow up episode we're filming tomorrow as we're covering the core range back in the studio just the three of us
@@TheWhiskyBaron just want to know of Ian cried himself to sleep last night. 😜
Keep up the good work.
@@erwinweening709 😅 I'll be sure to ask
Billy loves that black sweater 😜
suits him though!
Absolutely!! He can wear whatever when he’s pumping out such gems 😉
@@chazchilly9697 agreed!
What a privilege to sit and listen to Billy. His passion, desire and motivation is so inspiring.
couldn't agree more Bob - I was pinching myself that whole session. have you got any Glenallachie bottles on your shelf?
@@TheWhiskyBaronyeah quite a few. 8, new 9 oloroso, 10 CS b6, 14 oloroso plus some single cask bottles too.
@@bobsander4589 very nice! definitely worth having a look at that Fino my friend - it won't disappoint!
