Clay cook became John's friend in 1996, when John was 19 years old at Berklee. This album is from 1995. The dude singing is a high school friend, not Cook
The hatefulness and venom on the comments pages makes me think of 2 fundamentalist preachers cursing and swearing at each other, and then beating each other half to death with their bibles, each trying to force his idea of God's love down the other's throat. Music is supposed to enhance and complement life, not make us enemies. Drop the alpha male bully routine and enjoy the tune, or move on to something you like. It's not a war, it's music. I'll bet Jimi would agree with me if he was here today.
@fernandizo Dude, Hendrix wouldn't mind at all. Why are so many Hendrix fans douchebags about people being inspired by Hendrix? Hendrix was a chill dude, and loved music. He would've been honored to see a band of young guys running on inspiration of his music so much they'd named themselves after one of his legendary hits. And go listen to the cover of "Wait Until Tomorrow" by Mayer on the "Where The Light Is" concert--that "douche" did Hendrix justice.
sounds like theres two different people here singing. one person doesnt like john mayer at all and the other sounds like it could be john but he sounds like hes trying to sing like dave matthews.
I think it kind of has a DMB sound to it without the horns and violen and what not, It sounds like john hits the harmony at points but I can't believe he is the lead on this song. I can def tell he was trying to change his voice tho so that they would fit together.
you have to remember like he hasnt been to berklee and developed his voice, and im 99% possivitve its john mayer.. but i could be wrong p.s. he sounds like he's trying really hard
I believe that is JM singing at 43... it was early on his singing career obviously and it sounds like he's trying to force his voice to sound like someone else.
@SuperGamer87 I have no problems with young guys being inspired by Hendrix..name one guitarist that isnt?...anyway.. Im saying that you shouldn't name your shitty song after one of the best jams hendrix ever played..now some little kids going to think villanova junction is this featured crap not that Awesome! jam hendrix played..THAT AIN'T RIGHT!! see what im saying??
@azza1356 What are you Mayers little brother? I know how to play guitar enough to know that Mayer isn't talented at all. I don't usually knock fellow players but you pushed me to it..He still sounds like a 16 year old that learned how to play last year. Get off mayers jock strap..
Be sure to see John's earlier life in Wikipedia.
John Mayer
Joe Beleznay
Rich Wolf (my bro)
Tim Procaccini
that's too cool!
the lead voice is his friend from his band after high school, the lo-fi masters. clay cooks his name. he is still doing music as well. not too shabby.

Who is singing? its definitely John on guitar, but the singer sounds way different?
The second voice (back-up) is John Mayer.
He also sings the second verse.

This is pretty cool its got kind of a dispatch kind of feel to it. Props to John
thats not him singing, is it?
What's this Hanson! Mmm Bop!!??**
sounds DMB-ish... it's different from what you'd expect from JM, but it was highschool, so.... this is awesome...
The Piccolo snaredrum sounds great in this situation.
Sounds a lot like Dispatch and O.A.R.
@azza1356 Your putting words in my mouth..I never mentioned either of those guitarists..I just said Mayer sucks..I stand by what I SAID..
Wait untill tomorro:)
