As someone who bought this after watching the first review and has no clue really where to start, a complete beginners guide on how to do the first run and really get in depth would be awesome
The learning curve was difficult for me, just have to do it. You will likely make some mistakes but it’s part of the process. It will make you a better distiller in the end. I’m starting to find my groove and find it fun now.
I have pretty much the same rig. I can make about 3 quarts of product and 1 quart of tails for the next batch.. Practice..Practice. Practice to get to Broadway.
I had a 2 pot distiller in my cart on Amazon but after watching your video I bought the 3 pot distiller at their website and used the coupon code you provided! Thank you for the excellent review! I will come back and watch this again after I receive my distiller. We'll be using ours to distill water!
is there a video of starting..i just wanna make distilled water right now, but im still trying to figure out the vinegar run..just need to know how not to blow myself up! lol..thanks in advance
I have this still, and I want to upgrade. Need to find a 10 to 15 gallon pot with a locking lid and use the 5 gallon pot for my thumper and make a bigger worm bucket... condenser
hey! did you ever make that upgrade? i am planning on doing the same, buying the 13-gallon still, plus the 5-gallon one to use as a thumper, so it would be nice to know if you ever got it done and how. thanks
The Still is good but I could see happening to you coil is the same as what was happening with mine the pot with the coil is to small and regardless how you pump your water through it gets too hot, I recommend you put a hosepipe from the kitchen tap to the pot and just let it run put the tube from the output directly down the drain this will keep the coil cold 👍
I’m using this set up , the only thing I differently is filtering the distilled liquid into a funil with cotton , it comes out clean as into a glass parrot with an alcohol meter float .
A really great review mate. Thanks for the info.. you presented & explained step by step very well. You need to do more reviews or recipes for us. Really like your no fuss, this is how you do it review. No BS.. 👍
I got one & it has recipes & instructions I'm a newbie, but to me it seems like both recipes & instructions aren't in depth enough in ways & in other ways too in depth if that makes sense. Like most things, most valuable info comes off the you tube
Well thanks for the review, I always wanted to get into this and now I'm retired I am going to. I know nothing about what I'm doing so any advice would be appreciated.
Got one made by someone else, after the vinegar run I had rust spots in the bottom from crappy weld that I guess had a hole it it before.....went straight to the trash. May give vevor a try. Another good reason for a first cleaning run
You don't NEED the Tape if you use the Silicone Washers, They work really well....BUT they are very easy to forget about and fall out (and get LOST) when you disconnect them
Do any of the parts in this kind of system wear out fast? Like would you want spare parts for those if any on hand if you were thinking long term? And if you just wanted to use it for purifying water, is there an ideal heat setting? Or would does it matter or better to just do max heat?
I just got a 8 gallon vevor still. We ran it a couple of times but only got 2 pints of shine. We had a 5 gallon mash. Can you help us out and let us know what we are doing wrong? We should be getting a better yield.
G'day Philbilly, Mate I loved your video. Bought one of these contraptions and was delivered yesterday. I think it's awesome. Loved your idea for sealing with teflon. Looking forward to using it. I'm sure I'll stuff up some mixes but willing to give it a go and trial different blends. Loved your easy, clear style of tuition man. Great stuff. Thanks again from Keiran in Melbourne Australia. You are a gun mate. Keep up the great work. Video was so helpful. Cheers 👍👍👍
I have an older version of this still. It suits my needs until I get the time to build something better. I've never had an issue with it. I double distill everything now and I am happy with the results.
@@jupitercyclops6521 after I use it I wash everything with dawn dish detergent and water and rinse well. When I do the next run I dump the first 200 mils which is very toxic to every living organism. Nothing can survive that. I always run mine at least 2 times, usually 3, and I dump the first 200 mils each time. I've done this for years with no problems.
I have an 8 gallon Vevor rig that is great for smaller/testing ideas runs, it wasn't expensive but it's not cheaply made and makes some decent shine. I'm interested in what improvement(s) you guys have in mind! p.s. Just read the comments and a jar thumper is something I was debating making. Also, I use copper mesh tucked into both ends of the tube to the thumper or the worm if not using the thumper.
Hi there, for a beginner did you suggest that one or the other style with the thumper jar ( Vevor Model VV-PG30L-220V ) - means which one in longer duration is more modern/efficient/professional/comfortable/flexible from your point of view ? Many thx. in advance for your experienced reply, suggestion & help- greats from germany ;)
The issue I'm have is finding new gaskets for the pot and for the thumper/slobber box. I found the gaskets for the pipes. I contacted them and they said they DO NOT carry parts for any of the still kits. So now going to have to re pipe everything and go to mason jar thumper.
That seems low iq to not offer replacement parts. It's like free $ if they already have to have parts + its just good business to take care of your customers. Gaskets like that are bound to wear out & get lost
I love my 5 gallon. Added a mason jar thumper, and infuse some good flavors. I do wish the company made a replacement parts package. I could use new washers and hoses, but not sure what to order for it.
The threads on this are straight threads, not NPT taper threads. They don't need teflon tape, as all the threads do is pull the flare on the tube firmly so the flare seats against the cone of the fitting. It makes a metal to metal joint- no sealant is required.
@@bigeaze5711 I've got the Vevor still, and if you tighten the flared joints properly, they don't leak. No teflon tape required. They should have used compression fittings with ferrules in them, instead of flares, then it would have been a no brainer, but hey- it's a cheap Chinese thing. For the price, I'm totally happy with mine!
Question. Did a practice run of a a gallon of boxed wine, threw the heads out. The run gave me about 2 cups of liquor. Did a second run on the liquor I got out of the first, but was wondering if I need to throw the heads out of the second run as well?
I purchase the larger still and it does have the thumper but how deep do you put something in the thumper does it go over the hoses I have a complete beginner I watched my grandfather when I was a child but I was more interested in getting into trouble then watching him and the little pump for the water flow it is a submersible pump right
Propane is way too hot for a small pot like that. Is tap water so expensive or why the F people fiddle with those small pumps and end up circulating warm water?
wanting to get a first still for my dad...would you recommend this or the football style? Both are same price right now for 5-8 gallon. He is only going to do peach and pear brandy with it. thanks

I’ve been making wine for nearly 35 years. Can I use wine to make shine?
Yes. Distilled wine is known as brandy. Aka brandy wine . It’s actually what he is demonstrating

Compression fitting. Teflon tape actually does nothing.

I didn't use no Teflon tape an I still didn't have any leaks,I run mine on a single burner hot plate!!
Subbed out the original coil and pot for a longer one and made a bigger cooling pot. Didn’t cost much to upgrade. Definitely helpful
I made a thumper jar and bucket worm for it
What sizes are the hoses and thread pitch ?
Hey Eaze, my mom just bought me one of these for xmas, Ima put tails and a couple oz of california kind bud in the thumper ok?
I'm buying the 13.2 gallon version next week!
Let me know how it goes

copper mesh for the thumper?
Remember the burrito wuine video? lol. Great to see you guys doing so well!

Is it legal to make brandy at home?
i would like to see how you can get etheric oils from fruit etc

How about for distilling water??
I love all my VEVOR products so far.
Isnt it important to cline the stil before you start use ir? ???

Run temp based on how the drip is going

In almost all cases it is wood aged. Unless it is post flavored, and post colored.
