I’ll probably never actually distill my own spirits but I absolutely love the long form detailed breakdown in this video. However much you want to go more in depth in future videos you can count on nerds like me watching the whole way through 😊
17:56 a thirsty ghost entered the room...Btw thank you I've always wanted to learn and you did a great job really giving me the experience of the know how.
I have been distilling for a number of years and this video holds your hand and walks you through on how to become a closer distended of true moonshining only using sight taste and smell , ladies and gentlemen this is a true moonshiners guide ❤
I've been distilling for several decades and I am very impressed with your ability to teach our craft and art. It is a constant learning experience and I think it's wonderful that you're giving folks very accurate information. Huge kudos to you Jessie.
I don't have the patience to wait 2 years for a homemade bourbon but loved watching the video to understand the skill needed to make it. Very interesting and I can see how people could go down the rabbit hole chasing their perfect tipple.
Really nice to see a video about bourbon. Info about how to make bourbon is very hard to find. 2 months ago I made a bourbon wash from barley, rye and flaked corn. I need to do a second wash to get 5 liters of spirit to put in a barrel. I really like you're channel. Nice to see that the channel is getting better and better. Keep up the good work.
I have been watching for a few years now and never could connect the dots but this video fills in the gaps. I live in a dry state and county in the US so I cant make anything other than beer but distilling has always amazed me. Thanks Jessie.
@@dougbish5533 That is true but the smell normal give you away especially where I live. This was bootleg heaven in the past so everyone knows what mash cooking smells like.
Very VERY nice walk through. As you mentioned early in the video, I'm glad you walked through the process in a casual manner without complicating the topic with numbers, charts, tables, etc.
Just want to say an old fireman's trick is to test if something is hot or not with the back of your hand rather than the palm because if something is scolding hot your muscles in your hand can contract and you grab the hot object instead of releasing and letting go.
Not sure how you popped up on my FYP with TH-cam.. but I’m glad you did. I will go back and like the absinthe video that popped up. That was very entertaining and also educational. Well done. I’m going to scroll through and watch more. Once again, well done.
New subscriber, I make my own wine (just planted my 1st vines to make it 100% my wine), brew beer from kits (like brewers best) and recently started distilling and after a couple of Bourbon trips with my buddies decided to try my hand at a bourbon. Your video was excellent for my level of inexperience and I appreciate how you approached the tutorial. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks!
Cheers Jessie. This was really useful. New distiller and I'll be doing my first proper spirit run this weekend. So this was useful to watch a full distillation day. Gives me a few pointers for Saturday. Nice one, cheers!
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple weeks now because I’ve been interested in creating spirits. This video taught me so much but I know I didn’t catch it so so I’m watching it again lol
I have been distilling for many years (ok about 15 years) so far from a guru but I enjoyed your video, some good info on cuts and also hit the safety points without sounding like a school teacher. I have used the freezer method to speed up my ageing, it really does seem to work well, great if you are low on drinking ready and want to speed some up. I tend to do 100lt batches and find I end up with a reasonable amount of product.
I found this channel last week and I've watched almost every episode and will definitely become a patron. Idc it the videos are 30 seconds or 5 hours long. I'm watching em.
I just discovered your channel. I primarily make Mead and always wanted to try is distilled. I saw your mead video and have been wanting sporadic videos since. This is tremendously helpful and I appriciate you putting it together for those of us that have a basic understanding but no practical knowledge
I really like your videos! I watched this one all the way. I can't distill in my State but I enjoy the craft that you are doing. I am just starting to make cider and today I made my first mead, with your videos playing in the background. Later I will try beer when I get the basics down. As a filmmaker myself I enjoy the quality of your videos, the picture and the sound are top quality and your presentation is very approachable. Thanks again for what you do!
I'm a total new'b at this (my still is on the way 🥳) But I really enjoyed watching this a pleasure to sit through and easy to absorb, well done! I hope I will get to this point in a reasonably short time all though I totally agree with you that I have to go through those "Growing Steps". you layed out. and I'll try to be smart and do that! I ordered one of those 50 liter Vevor stills and I'm planning to upgrade the cooling right away with a better (longer) coil and probably add a thumper that all seems simple enough, I'm pretty handy with pipe and solder and tinsnips and got all the tools so no issue there. Time is the big one, although I am retired I always have such a long list of things to be done 🤯 But i've wanted to do this for so many decades it's now or never!!! 😏
Cheers Jesse, great video. Looking at making the jump from all grain homebrew to all grain distilling, and videos like this are absolutely perfect for helping me identify what equipment to get, how to set up a brewing/distilling area, and most importantly all the steps of distilling from the ingredients in the mash right through to aging it.
I think it was really good the way you took it from start to finish a lot of people starting out don't realize and that really helps even people that's been doing it for a while probably helped keep it up you're doing good
This was an awsome learning curve for a guy like me just starting out. I bought a potstill a week ago so Im looking forward to stilling soon. Thanks for a great channel man!!!
Would love to hear your take on adding water to spirit run when you don't have enough spirit for the still.I only do small batches so I need to add water to my spirit from stripping run.
Thank you Jessie & Clawhammer, as a beginner in watching videos phase this was “Very” helpful in my learning phase. Great video Jesse, thank you very much.
I've only just found your channel great content and you explain things in layman terms . I've done no distilling at all but always wanted to I'll be looking to get a basic setup at first. And see how I get on.
Mate this is a really good vid hey. I’ve watched a few of your others and a few vids from other people (as you do as a beginner) and I’ve gone from wondering what the hell all those words mean to wanting to go out and buy my own equipment and get started.. thanks mate !
Another great job at creating and editing i really like watching your videos you have a excellent understanding of the art of distillation. I love some of the terms you use when describing what the cuts in the runs taste like. cheers
Great video brother, just starting out and this is the first video I wound up finding. Thanks for the step by step! Going to be a little more confident with my first batch now!
All of my 3 operating stills are all coper,self-build kits from clawhammer supply. Just like jesse said, its a kick ass, family owned company that makes home brewing/distilling supply's. If there is anything that isnt quite right about a product you purchased, they'll make it right!
I lucked out and found a box of 200ml ball jars at a second hand store super cheap for my cuts jars. I'm a science nerd. I like to have everything uniform.
Love the channel. I have never heard you talk about using salt in your wash to pull more alcohol from your stripping run. Any thoughts on this brother. Again thank you for your work on home distilling. Delton from Missouri. U.S.A.
Watched a lot of your videos now, am totally new but interested in this. I have to say your laugh gets me, you had to have been that kid always getting away with shit as a kid, probably always making trouble and then laughing about it haha.
Thanks Jesse. I’ve been following along, originally with George who I’m sure you’re aware has sadly disappeared, and later with you, bearded & others. My plan is to purchase a combination still, probably from Mile high at some point, and start figuring this stuff out. I have been retired for about two years now, and I’m always looking for new hobbies.
Love this video mate 👌 one of the best well spoken and informative videos i have found on youtube !! I have been watching you videos for about a month now and i think you have sparked a new found love for the craft of distilling 🤙
I’ll probably never actually distill my own spirits but I absolutely love the long form detailed breakdown in this video. However much you want to go more in depth in future videos you can count on nerds like me watching the whole way through 😊
Wifey-material right here 😄
Was waiting on my wash to ferment and found this video - its full of common sense advice, some backup science and lots of humor. Well worth the time.
17:56 a thirsty ghost entered the room...Btw thank you I've always wanted to learn and you did a great job really giving me the experience of the know how.

Awesome! Hope it turns out amazing, and thanks 👍
Thanks Jessie and Clawhammer! Even for some of us that are familiar, it's good to go back to basics from time to time. Always great content!
I have been watching for a few years now and never could connect the dots but this video fills in the gaps. I live in a dry state and county in the US so I cant make anything other than beer but distilling has always amazed me. Thanks Jessie.
It ain't a crime if ya don't get caught.

There's DRY counties in the states??? Which States this?

Beans and toast mate, epic. Thanks for all the helpful videos 🙌🏼
This video is really cool to just go back and watch from time to time to just refresh. I’m 2 distillations into the hobby and I’m hooked. Great video.
As an avid clawhammer supply customer in America, I assure you that clawhammer supply's equipment is absolutely top notch!

Really enjoyed that! lots to learn moving forward. hopefully I can get something decent going soon. thanks again
I found this channel last week and I've watched almost every episode and will definitely become a patron. Idc it the videos are 30 seconds or 5 hours long. I'm watching em.
This is the detailed breakdown I was looking for! Thanks! The big part for me was learning how to proof along the way. Good stuff.
Great video! As a homebrewer in a country where distilling is legal, this is the first video that made me want to try making whiskey again!
I just discovered your channel. I primarily make Mead and always wanted to try is distilled. I saw your mead video and have been wanting sporadic videos since. This is tremendously helpful and I appriciate you putting it together for those of us that have a basic understanding but no practical knowledge
I loved the video. Great job on showing the basics.

Are we just going to gloss over this tool to hold the glass he made. @clawhammer needs to make these
Thank you for doing this! 😁
You should try turning dinosaur egg oatmeal into something alcoholic for meme spirits
Man, those are so damned delicious
Yes yes yes yes!!!
Yes,1000% yes
Agreed, every middle schooler from the 90s desperately wants this
love your videos mate , showing love out of Chicago, IL in the u.s.a.

I have a clawhammer still. It works great and has wonderful build quality. +1
Thanks for the informative presentation. Have you ever used the column plates in a distillation?
Jessie did that fly get a bit of a buzz on? Loved the video. Best I have ever watched on running a still. Thanks

Thanks bud, nice video. Mine came out fine (made it last year).
