    8:00 its not nitroglycerine. It is known as TNT oil. The substance contains 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene and its mono- and dintro-derivatives, which may undergo uncontrolled crystallization again during storage at elevated temperature, increasing the risk of accidental explosion.

    • @herrhaber9076
      @herrhaber9076 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      All true but very doubtful. mono and dinitrotoluene are removed during purification / separation of isomers. You can obtain pure TNT at the expense of yield.
      The issue you are mentioning (essentially gravity bombs leaking from the fuze well or DNT getting in the threads) was a thing decades ago though.
      Interestingly, specs on impurities present in high explosives (acid, side products) are much more demanding in Russia than other countries (Source: Urbanski).
      How does that translate in the real world may be a different story ;)

    Awesome how buddy has got his Russian combat gear on and his “imma punch holes in everything” gloves for dealing with a plastic mine! Getting into character! Atta boy! 👍🙂

    I wonder how many of these are abandoned in the mountains of Afghanistan? I made an acquaintance who had an excellent living until 75 just doing mine clearing and explosive clearing in VN and Laos.As to placement. They are literally being laid on the road surface and left in plain view, so kick/sliding them out of the way has been seen, and even in plain sight the dummy peasants driving armor go around the last stricken vehicle and drive over a line easily seen 400 feet away by the drone cam filming, and BOOM. This device eliminates the unwary.

    TNT exudes dinitro-Toluene, a bi-product of manufacture. It is not sensitive to all but the heaviest impact, but it will give you a nasty headache, much like Nitroglycerine.

    TM 62's are a bit weird. Active ones can get even worse depending on person that did it. You can have a surprise not only under it, but also under the fuse itself. There is enough space inside to place a nasty surprise there. Even when you think the fuse is safe, unscrewing it is dangerous!
    There are disarming gadgets made just for those mines that unscrew the detonator before turning over the mine itself by same pulling action. You just loosen the detonator by 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn before.
    There can be a stock grenade detonator with a trip wire in the side/bottom of the mine just drilled and screwed directly into TNT itself!
    This is what you won't read in stock literature and depends on who puts the mine in.
    Even if you think that the mine is safe and defused - treat it as live if you are not the one that activated it!

  • @warvamp2
    @warvamp2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sg42 so when you disarm the fuze and reset it. Does this mean the striker is rotated back?
    And you say its pneumatic that arms it does this mean after first time arming then disarmed the time delay for arming is gone on 2nd time use Because the air is released?

    • @SecurityGuy42
      @SecurityGuy42  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I can't see the detonator so I can't be 100% certain. But my guess is it does move back to transport position when it is reset. I had the blast of air the first time I tested the fuse but after reset it isn't doing that anymore.

    • @warvamp2
      @warvamp2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the US and probably few other countries have some type of ground penetrating radar or something to do with soil density to find stuff like this. Also Russia has an mrap type vehicle that has microwaves that will detonate hidden explosives. Will heat up wires and explosives. Not sure if this practical in certain areas

    • @SecurityGuy42
      @SecurityGuy42  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are extremely hard to detect. I know this is 1 of the mines that was used when the PSS-14 mine detectors were tested. The PSS-14 has Ground Penetrating Radar along with metal detection from what I remember.

    TNT leaches Nitroglycerin???? Never heard of that. TNT is not a nitroglycerin containing explosive what is the method of decomposition? TNT can get oily when very hot but it’s not nitroglycerin.

    • @SecurityGuy42
      @SecurityGuy42  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trinitrotoluene leaches pure nitroglycerin as it ages. Even military grade TNT does. This is common knowledge for those of us trained in safe handling and usage of explosives.

    Very good information (I'm impressed) for upcoming EOD teams that deploy in areas with Soviet ordinance as a threat. But why throw in your own personal politics? its your choice (1st Amendment) but in my opinion, it's going to be your downfall in terms of being able to continue to share information of value that can help our nations hero's who serve.
