      Absolutely, marshals play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the race. Their dedication is commendable, as is the vital support provided by medics. It's heartening to hear that the rider showed movement, and here's hoping for a full recovery. If anyone has updates or information, sharing it could help provide support and reassurance to concerned fans. If there's anything else you'd like to discuss or share, feel free to let me know. • @BrassLock
    @BrassLock 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    A clean, dry tarmac at 0:03 and by 0:04 the red bike has lost rear tyre adhesion, with front tyre counter-steering to correct rear slide.
    Then the rear brakes are heavily applied causing a rubber deposit trailing for several metres as the over-corretion flips bike and rider onto the green covered barrier. It's very solid, offering little comfort to the rider's back and head, so he bounces off it and careers off at an angle, rolling along the road to join his battered bike.
    He was doing something he enjoyed, but the long hand of fate introduced _"The Laws of Physics"_ rather abruptly.

    • @alanchase7329

      If you watch it again the rider doesn't appear to hit the barrier too hard, the problem appears to be the front of the bike hitting the barrier causing the back of the bike to whip round and hit the rider.

      I don't see any rear brake 'correction' causing this. What I see is the classic high side - rear end loss of grip and then sudden regaining of grip. Such was the good, dry condition of the road, that any temporary loss of rear tyre grip would have reasserted itself with the unfortunate inevitable result regardless of any rear brake input.
      That said, the end result is as we see. I'm sure he's already feeling much better reading all the comments for his beautiful demonstration of a high side

    It`s high time the IOM TT looked at greatly improving rider safety, if not stopping it all together, especially the sidecar races, which is extra mad.
    I was at the IOM TT quite a few years back, and 4 racers were killed and 3 spectators as well, in seperate incidents. Then 4 more died after crashes on Mad Sunday.
    I am from NI and used to go to some of the road races here, but I stopped going, too many deaths in the sport, the bikes get faster every year, and the margin for error is tiny.
    The IOM TT is especially tough, as there are so many things to hit if you do come off, the marshalls can`t cover everything, and then you can have freak accidents which cannot be predicted like mechanical failures etc
    People say it`s in the blood, and I get that, but people die almost every year doing this, or at other road circuits, when you look at the names of those who have been killed racing on roads, it`s pretty shocking. Joey, Robert and William Dunlop to name just three.

      @@randersson3672 OK, you sit there and have a go at me because I say things should be looked at to improve safety in Road races. I did not ay it should be banned.
      I have been to funerals of several riders that were killed road racing, it`s not funny, it`s not people being kill joys, it`s people saying " hold on, can we make this safer ? "
      Competitors in any sport should not have to die, yes there is a risk, but is it wrong to try and make the lower the risks by improving safety ?
      Look at F1 for example, back in the 1960`s and 70`s drivers were killed fairly regularly, same in NASCAR I suspect, but safety has improved, and reduced the risk of death.
      Why not the same in Road Racing ? These people have families, some have young children. Until you lose someone in tragic circumstances, then maybe you don`t understand.
      I have no idea what a Karen is, doubtless it`s not a compliment, if you feel you have to name call, that is pretty lame. Like I said already, people should not be dying in sports, there is a risk in everything we do, granted but I see nothing wrong with trying to make that risk smaller.
