Yes. New England Motorcycle Museum. Ken Kaplan. Kaplan America. You can have it on display there and still own it. Doesn't have to be a permanent fixture. And he loves CR500s maybe even more than you.
My favorite two dirt bike sounds are a big bore two stroke idling and a two stroke 125 screaming in the power band. It brings back such great memories.
I loved the video and the story about the bike. I know what it’s like to purchase a Holy Grail motorcycle. In 2007 I purchased a 1996 Suzuki RGV250 SP in Lucky Strike Livery. It is all original too. So glad to have your channel to watch and share the excitement of motorcycles and motorcycling. I have so many dirt bikes and street bikes I don’t have any more room for the 1983 RM 500 I want . Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. God bless🎄🙏🏼🇺🇸
I was thinking that before you even said it I was like that'd be cool if you had Ricky on if it was going to be ridden it would be wild to see Ricky ride it
All I can say is wow you have such an awesome piece of history there. The bike sounds absolutely amazing. And yes you should put it on display at kaplin cycles Ken is the man with a awesome Museum. What a piece of history to own you're so lucky.
New England Motorcycle Museum…. This is the Start of a Legend CR500…. Kaplan would be honored to put this on Display. Really think you should think about it…
I absolutely love the color scheme of that CR, even the blue seat, noone does blue seats anymore lol. That bike is really cool, I noticed the pipe right away! Edit* it runs already and well, sounds great, you gotta just rip it once a year dont mothball it to a museum. Yolo
Wow! What an incredible piece! I remember my first ever dirtbike video had Ricky Carmichael and Bubba Stewart! Bubba had to take off on a picnic table...lol.. couldn't have been 12 yrs old.. Ricky maybe was 12.. I cant remember the name of that vcr tape?
Thats insane ! but I couldnt see it going to a better guy ! you have a lot of passion for the sport and a interview with my favorite rider of all time would be just awesome ! I would hang on to it and take it all in ,I collect and restore bikes as well , and have a fleet of beautiful bikes ~ very addicting hobby ~ been honored to own it ! enjoy it my friend all the best in the New YR !
Now that’s a bike with amazing history you’re the envy of most of us. My vote is just clean and polish what you can add Ricky’s number to the plates get him to autograph it and just enjoy your piece of moto history. Congratulations you deserve it man
Hply Schnike!!! There aren't enough adjectives in the English language to describe how bad ass that is!!! That thing sounds super crispy!!! You have to takenit for at least one little rip!!! Man, that would be so totally awesome if you could get an interview with RJ!!!
I love the amazement in your voice!! 'How am I sitting here, next to THIS bike?' That exhaust looks like a boa constrictor, slithering around, being menacing. Thanks for sharing.
You remember 70-80 the pros with signed contracts road factory rides. Didn't 4 manufacturers build factory privateer bikes weren't as top cabin as factory better than the production bike? If they did have ever got your hands on one.?
Hey Lund Awsome video again. One of my favourites the 87!! I actually have an 86 that I see was also sold 00/00/87 on the title pretty cool stuff. I’ll be uploading my own video on that one soon after I go thru the 4 bikes I’ve just got. 2 yz465’s and 2 WR500’s. Love your videos and content mate so keep up the good work. Martin U.k
Sounds phenomenal. What a beautiful bike. I had an '87 CR 250 and that was one if my absolute favorite rides. Great piece of history. I agree about Kaplan. Dude ❤️'s the CR 500
First, congratulations, that bike is beautiful. I agree, your it's steward, it should be preserved. Apart from that, what you should do with it, I'm not sure. Personally if it were me, I would just hold onto it forever, but then that is why my spaces tend to be so cluttered.
I knew a guy who bought the first one in my area. He was a bigger taller man and a pro he was riding a 480 then he got this thing and holy cow, like game changer
Godspeed to your recovery for your house Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family that is one hell of a bike and one hell of a freaking legendary Rider Ricky Johnson !
Start it here and there but if you paid money for it why donate it to sit and rot or for the museum to sell it if they needed the funds for something, seen big museums do it like Kaplan cycles, that’s just my opinion keep it and chairish the darn thing honestly…
Thank goodness you went with a public adjuster because your insurance company will stick you where the sun don't shine during the entire process. Facts, evidence, and pay close attention to language. Use social media to your advantage with them.
I just picked up a 1987 cr 500 yesterday. it runs and rides i think all origanal except it has fmf pipe. Im in marysville , wa. If you want another 1987 id prob sell it for a deal
here is a thought, loan it to the guys who do the traveling display of historic bikes at the supercross' have it for this season so they can bring it to all the races and the fans can see it
I would let RJ keep it in his dealership thats local to you. Then atleast you could go see it whenever you want and it still he in the public eye where it belongs as opposed to sending to a museum far from you.
You should put in the house like an antique or a piece of art make it the center piece of your living room if the wife would let you I know my wife would not let me do anything like that if looking at it makes you happy then put it somewhere you can enjoy it
Do not give to Anyone other than Mitch , Mitch was at pro circuit would go to Honda Land and weld pipes at the track for RJ, made the pipes for RJs 86 250 from memory love you to ask if Mitch did test pipes for this id sat so RJ my number 1. RJ & You will tell where to go.But Honda would not give RJ his winning bike Mitch is your Man I had 1986 250 brilliant 1987 500 88, 89 500 .I would have to find one to ride. The best bike to ride was that 86 CR 250 and for me then 87,88 500 as together being equalish IMO.I gave me chills to think what You Have. A true RJ Man you are to protect this
Hey Clint!!! I was just thinking of you and the fam today, wondering how you were all doing! Greetings from japan. Hope you had a good Christmas, and New Years, and 2025 will be awesome for you all! - 2024 is almost over, time to move forward in health, happiness and with family. LOVE TRACK TALKERS!!! That CR500 is awesome! I would suggest just give it a really good clean. All the nicks, scratches, and scuffs with be there, but preserve what is still there. No need to powder coat, respray, rebuild it. Use modern products to make it shine and preserve it as it is. The nicks and scratches are part of the history of that bike. You should keep ownership, but perhaps find a place that will display it proudly, and keep the dust off it. Run it/kick start every so often.
Kaplan cycles you now who I talking of I think he would love to put it in his place
Yes. New England Motorcycle Museum. Ken Kaplan. Kaplan America. You can have it on display there and still own it. Doesn't have to be a permanent fixture. And he loves CR500s maybe even more than you.
Kaplan is a friggin legend. 100% he needs to know about this(probably already does).
I'm Aussie so Kaplan reminds me of a movie star.
My favorite two dirt bike sounds are a big bore two stroke idling and a two stroke 125 screaming in the power band. It brings back such great memories.
That’s a awesome piece of history and I love how original it is and how awesome it sounds
Very nice. Sounds great. You are a lucky man. My last and final restoration for my channel this year was a 1987 CR500.

What a masterpiece, Clint. You’re very lucky. Cool story too!
I love the amazement in your voice!!
'How am I sitting here, next to THIS bike?'
That exhaust looks like a boa constrictor, slithering around, being menacing.
Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas from England.
Absolute masterpiece right there 😍
That bike sounds ridiculously smooth! Let him use it as a show piece at the dealer.

OMG! FREAKING UNICORN 😮, museum piece. Can’t forget where we came from to know where we are going. Keep the faith bud, everything works out
First, congratulations, that bike is beautiful. I agree, your it's steward, it should be preserved. Apart from that, what you should do with it, I'm not sure. Personally if it were me, I would just hold onto it forever, but then that is why my spaces tend to be so cluttered.
The best addiction. 2 stroke and 2 wheels
I knew a guy who bought the first one in my area. He was a bigger taller man and a pro he was riding a 480 then he got this thing and holy cow, like game changer
C R A Z Y AWESOME ❤ U already know I watch the Track Talkers 🎉 SuperX is coming to Town 🥳

Lund! I know some people who work at Barber, i bet we could get it in the museum!
Start it here and there but if you paid money for it why donate it to sit and rot or for the museum to sell it if they needed the funds for something, seen big museums do it like Kaplan cycles, that’s just my opinion keep it and chairish the darn thing honestly…

Super cool find!
I just picked up a 1987 cr 500 yesterday. it runs and rides i think all origanal except it has fmf pipe. Im in marysville , wa. If you want another 1987 id prob sell it for a deal
How much would you sell it for?
here is a thought, loan it to the guys who do the traveling display of historic bikes at the supercross' have it for this season so they can bring it to all the races and the fans can see it
You have to take it for 1 rip at least ❤
WOW.
No screw that put it in your Man Cave or living Room!
Talk to Kaplan cycles, nemm. He would love to have that bike at museum. He loves cr500s. Cool bike❤👍💯💪🙏
I think you should write it one time, not hard.
So that way you can say you wrote it
Wrote what?
Are you guys doing Supercross videos this year?
Beautiful bike. Hey Lund is your house all fixed since the fire? And how about your neighbor?
My apologies I commented before the video was over
Miss Clint showing me all kinds of stuff to make me want to buy a blown up bike
Bellissima moto,complimenti.
Ride it like you stole it made to be ripped by the best 👌
Yeah, right....thats some bad advice.
Had the 85’ and 87’ omg the 87 was soooo much better. Disc brakes and the suspension was night and day better than the 85’ and 86’
Like to see that on Ken’s dyno I bet it’s strong
Replace the brake fluid, change transmission oil
For the love of God ride that thing once in a while
I would let RJ keep it in his dealership thats local to you. Then atleast you could go see it whenever you want and it still he in the public eye where it belongs as opposed to sending to a museum far from you.
Psssh
How can i share the title photo with you ?
Sick....that is all🤙
I'd ride it, but that's me.
What did it cost u?
You should put in the house like an antique or a piece of art make it the center piece of your living room if the wife would let you I know my wife would not let me do anything like that if looking at it makes you happy then put it somewhere you can enjoy it
RIDE IT AT LEAST ONCE

That CR500 is awesome! I would suggest just give it a really good clean. All the nicks, scratches, and scuffs with be there, but preserve what is still there.
