Some managers have their own scouts like Fergie. Ange got credit for great recruitment at Celtic but bad recruitment at Spurs gets blamed on Levy.

I'm a chelsea fan and poch was average or below average for most of his time. People bang on about the injuries he had to deal with but he's had an injury crisis at every club he's been at. It's his training methods that caused this injury crisis. And we were 11th in mid April, we only finished 6th because of a 5 game winning run against teams who were mostly on the beach (Bournemouth, Brighton, West Ham). The only team that we played in the final few weeks that had anything to play for was Forest and we scraped a 3-2 win after being dominated for 70% of the game. Even against Bournemouth we were outplayed for large parts
I don't think Bissouma or Bentancur are number 6 (proper positional DM, like Rodri/Casemiro), imo they're more like number 8. We either play both as double pivot or we sign a 6 who's insane off the ball.

His dribbling numbers are dreadful. Against Wolves you will say he scored a goal. I will say he made 5 successful passes in 64 minutes. 0 crosses. 0 dribbles. He offers so little across the 90 minutes that the odd goal just isn't enough. Spurs need to start being ruthless, especially when we don't have infinite funds available. I used to say that Ange has improved Deki too. Now, I'm not so sure. Deki's increased impact on games has come about from a positional change (which I credit Postecoglu for) as opposed to any improvement in his attributes. I don't think that moving him to the middle has necessarily "made him a better player" he's just playing in his preferred position. If Deki had improved as a player I don't think we'd still be seeing the same deficiencies (having an undeveloped right foot, floating in lame crosses, running down blind allies, turning and passing back too often, etc) when he's out wide.

Ange has played the highline for so long that it brainwashed people on how they view him. Ange is an intelligent manager he knows and sees these things and he's using these bad games as references on how he can solve the problems in the long term with more windows. Fans are quick to cry after each loss/draw as if Ange could magically transform his players over the week to be world class. If you've been paying attention enough, Ange tries to make changes every game in Attack and Midfield to clearly see who he can rely on for the long period ahead. As for the defence we've seen him overplay Porro until he learned that his players are at risk of dropping like flies with injuries. He gave Djed a chance to correct that mistake and see if he can rely on him. He's new in these big leagues that's all I'm saying, and getting things running smooth requires learning as games come and go, adapting ( I saw that in the last game against wolves) and getting your players to believe in the project and get in sync with the philosophy no matter the failures (remember its a learning curve). You can see that most players back Anges philosophy and have bought into it., and also notice how players are having fun and are more of a family than we've seen with the past managers. Ange is trying to build something to make us proud and unfortunately some fans are impatient with the process.

I don't think Bissouma or Bentancur are number 6 (proper positional DM, like Rodri/Casemiro), imo they're more like number 8. We either play both as double pivot or we sign a 6 who's insane off the ball.

His goals rely heavily on players putting the ball on a plate for him and he has two assists this season. His creative numbers are dreadful. His passing numbers are dreadful. His dribbling numbers are dreadful. Against Wolves you will say he scored a goal. I will say he made 5 successful passes in 64 minutes. 0 crosses. 0 dribbles. He offers so little across the 90 minutes that the odd goal just isn't enough. Spurs need to start being ruthless, especially when we don't have infinite funds available. Is Johnson ever going to be the level of player we want in the long-term? For me it's a clear no and for that we should recoup what we can and hopefully sign someone who might be.

I used to say that Ange has improved Deki too. Now, I'm not so sure.
Deki's increased impact on games has come about from a positional change (which I credit Postecoglu for) as opposed to any improvement in his attributes. I don't think that moving him to the middle has necessarily "made him a better player" he's just playing in his preferred position.
If Deki had improved as a player I don't think we'd still be seeing the same deficiencies (having an undeveloped right foot, floating in lame crosses, running down blind allies, turning and passing back too often, etc) when he's out wide.
Yh exactly he was excellent under conte especially that first period but wasn’t great on the wing during ange so when he moved him into the middle it looked like he improved him but actually he was always a quality player just not a winger in ange system.

So, let me get this right, Ben. You're gonna sing the name of the manager that you don't want at the club?
I'm "on your side" of this issue but this is clearly an inconsistency.
Ange has played the highline for so long that it brainwashed people on how they view him. He's even baiting everyone to believe he'll stick to the 'highline for life' through every conference he does. He's not stupid, hes just playing along with all the noise from the media to move along with the day in a smart way
That wolves game was the beginning of his change in tactics and most didn't catch it.
Ange is an intelligent manager he knows and sees these things and he's using these bad games as references on how he can solve the problems in the long term with more windows. Fans are quick to cry after each loss/draw as if Ange could magically transform his players over the week to be world class. If you've been paying attention enough, Ange tries to make changes every game in Attack and Midfield to clearly see who he can rely on for the long period ahead. As for the defence we've seen him overplay Porro until he learned that his players are at risk of dropping like flies with injuries. He gave Djed a chance to correct that mistake and see if he can rely on him.
He's new in these big leagues that's all I'm saying, and getting things running smooth requires learning as games come and go, adapting ( I saw that in the last game against wolves) and getting your players to believe in the project and get in sync with the philosophy no matter the failures (remember its a learning curve). You can see that most players back Anges philosophy and have bought into it., and also notice how players are having fun and are more of a family than we've seen with the past managers.
Ange is trying to build something to make us proud and unfortunately some fans are impatient with the process.
What we did in the Wolves game was pathetic.
And there is no evidence saying that he told the players to defend like that.
