A few times on TH-cam I have accidentally touched the dislike button, and than it’s too late, not regret, no change to like..... It should explain some of the dislikes, than others have little idea about what they’re doing, and even others just on the wrong channel, or expecting to find something else... I even use this channel to lift my mood some days. It’s a bit funny, I’m a complete stranger to him, he’s like a good friend that I really enjoy knowing.
@@torenicolaifjelldal agreed, somehow I’ve imagined him narrating the family’s summer trip in a horse drawn Conestoga wagon to a no motorboat lake with a campground on the other side we did once
Thanks David I have had a really busy day at work today so what could be nicer than enjoying a trip down the Grand Union on cruising the cut with a lovely cup of tea or even better a gin and tonic!. Cheers Jo
Love that you don't hold back from praising the CRT for their good work along with (rightly so) pointing out things they could improve on. Overall you're just so drama free it's a really refreshing style of vlog.
I think the only difference is that I'm experimenting with doing the commentary as I film, rather than writing a script to pictures afterwards but I'm interested that the difference is noticeable. Glad you enjoy it. The scripting/voiceover took hours and left me rather out of love with video making hence my summer break. I'm hoping this somewhat quicker method of turning out the vlogs will still be acceptable to viewers and keep me feeling like doing it!
Found your vlogs a couple of weeks ago and slowly looking at them as I can...I'm a Tank that lived 4 years in Suffolk and Essex. Your vlogs bring back great memories to my wife and myself and I'm getting a good refresher course on the various British dialects. Keep up the vlogs, they are very entertaining...
I live in Australia and just found your videos and had a binge on so many of them. Your channel is so entertaining and you are a great presenter. Keep up the good work.
Over summer 2018 we spent 7 idyllic weeks cruising the cut, including a cruise from Brunson to Stoke Bruerne. Your episodes from 140 are So nostalgic. Many thanks.
Many years ago my family helped with the restoration of the tug Worcester which is the sister boat to Gloucester that you passed in your video. She had a single cylinder Bolinder Diesel engine and I remember heating the glow plug with a blow torch to get it started then turning it over with compressed air.
Lovely update 😊I'm enjoying your older episodes again too, when i have the time, relaxing to watch and informative for when i get my own boat someday👍 i noticed your through the hedge reference 😉 ~Bex
Glad to see your CRT $ going for work to approve the canals. Those lads was very nice to help you out since there was 3 of them. Have a wonderful weekend. Chris from Missouri
Another scenic tour, simply beautiful, reminds me of the Maritimes I grew up in. You are very blessed with wonderful trees and the accompanying vegetation. It is no wonder many people are attracted to the canals and narrowboats. Cheers
Seems like you had Nova Scotia weather all day! I love the big old Weeping Willow trees, right up at the edge of the canal. Looks like they're just dangling their fingers in the water to see if it's warm enough to swim. And some grazing swans, a parent with two cygnets. I wish I could do watercolours, because some of the scenery you're chugging through is gorgeous.
An absolute pleasure to watch Sir. Great video quality and a soothing voice over. One would think you had done this before. 😂 Many thanks for your efforts as I thoroughly enjoy your blogs.
Thanks for sharing. I kept my boat at whilton marina for a few years in the late 70s. It may be a trick of the memory but much of the scenery in the video seems the same ;o)
Filming some of those shots must have been challenging whilst Cruising the cut! What a treat to see a steady stream of cruising video’s come from your channel David!
Lovely vlog David, when you looked back at the lock for the mooring line check it showed how good your boat is looking with the clean cratch cover and blacking, all we need now is to see that clean engine bay. Tip always check your spelling when writing cratch cover !
Thanks for another great video. I really enjoyed it. Were I to be a narrowboat owner, I would probably carry a few garden implements to trim back the occasional errant branch, etc. I would probably get busted by the CRT for doing so, though. Safe Journey
We're at Stoke bruerne atm and it's lovely. A couple of nice friendly pubs and an interesting canal museum. We'll be going down 5 of the locks in the morning then turning back up and making our way back. We'll give you a wave if we pass you. Happy cruising
A wood chipper on a barge makes quick work of tree branches. One worker trims, the other feeds the chipper. Instant wood chips and so much more compact than a pile of brush
I can't imagine why anyone would give a thumbs down to any of these beautiful and fascinating videos.

Once again, we get to peek in at life on the canals, and the beautiful scenery that is right outside your door. Thank you.

Love the ‘dutch barge’ near the end. Great video, thanks AJ.

Haha "drama free", oh how little you know me ;-)
Just what I needed after a day in the office!
Thank you David. Nice trip and beautiful cottages along the canal. The new chimney is outstanding and classy looking.
Having not seen your vlogs recently, I now appreciate your stylistically different presentation. It is a refreshing difference.

Uprgaded chimney looks splendid.
Thank you David. How wonderful it would be to live in one of those lovely homes along the canal.

really enjoyed that as per usual as for the fishermen bah humbug
Nice to have you back David
That's a good idea to carry around a bird feeder that you can put up and enjoy the birdlife! I like it.
It was more an accident that I forgot to take it off the roof before I left...
“If one was to go Through The Hedge there”! 👍🏻 😂 the GU is very pretty isn’t it? Thank you for a lovely vlog
Nice relaxing Vlog David. I think that cannon mounted on the bow would look good, it might even make fisherman take note.

Us American's do love his vid's, so peaceful, love his engine noise in the back ground !!!
Life on a narrow boat seems to be the way to live and experience the country side, which no doubt, is good for the soul.
Keeping the canals to their proper width seems to be a full time job for the Canal Trust, let alone the canal collapse like they had last spring.
Pls pls do more vlogs. Love the voice over too
Good to see the swans working on their 5 veggies a day. 👍
Nice episode David, cheers.
Great as always! I love your style of narration!

Yes nice to follow your boating life again!
Looked like a pleasant little trip.

The willows do look lovely but they do so restrict your vision along the canal sometimes!
👍 thank you for sharing 👍
I agree that I would rather have Dutch Barge style widebeam. I can’t get used to widebeam “narrow ” boats 🤔
What a great video and stunning scenery ! I think the views down the GU are some of the prettiest on the network.
Yes, it's been mostly sunny today so I'll be able to compile one of my real-time "not a vlogs" from the footage because it's very scenic.
@@CruisingTheCut I wondered if it was real time.
I like the peaceful views, with your commentary to clue us North Americans in.
Good God, we have the Vlog running at full tilt again, happy days
Enjoyed your Narrowboat cruise on the Grand Union canal
Thanks.

i admit that i have become a distant gongoozler as i am here in Australia i find it so relaxing cheers mate
I must say- your special chimney certainly looks better than the last one!
Thanks David, loved this vlog as I’ve spent many happy hours visiting this area with my wife while in Northampton.
Thanks David, very good... loved the cottages, just wish there had been some for sales signs!
yet another lovely vid 😊👍🏻👍
How charmingly oldy-worldy-English! Very nice stretch of the cut, David. And such lovely commentary. Nice to be able to include the word blowy 👍🏻
Another fine vlog. Thank you
I enjoy seeing road works myself. It's a sign that there is upkeep being done and tax dollars are being used for something helpful.
That really narrow bit was the site of an old bridge I think. Great video as usual :-)
There's also a really narrow bit ahead in Leighton Buzzard to look out for.

There's a fair bit of "near crashing" that goes on with some of the longer shots when I take my eye off the steering!
CruisingTheCut Just make sure it is never anyhing worse than a near crash! Your boat is just perfect the way it is.
I've not actually crashed while filming yet... ;-)
Love your work!!
Your thorough commentary is always a hoot David! If you ever make it to west Florida, USA, drop a line (email that is!!)
God I love this channel. Wish I could do this.
New chimney's lookin' good!

Great shot of your bespoke chimney at the end of the video.
OMG! How many green pole questions you had to endure! And no, I'm not going to ask you what it is for, lol, as I already know the answer!
Brilliant well done.loved it👏👏👏👍
that is one fine looking n/b that you cruised by .
Method man is back mint
Nice journey. Busier than last time we came this way. Lovely video with an excellent commentary. Thank you David
Very pleasant, feet up on my recliner, Dr Pepper in hand, floating along.
Thanks mate. Keep up the good work
Busy, busy, busy.😊

Practically romping along!
Well done sir!
David, great to see you back on the move again. Mike
You’re like a tv show that you can turn to any number episode and be ok lol
😊😊
David, thank you for the link. You are heading our way. Hope you get a tile from our art bombing adventure.

The hire boat crew came in handy.
Well done David.🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
Lovely to see you back David ! Off to the Llangollen tomorrow so fingers crossed the blustery winds will drop
I don't know what the forecast is for Wales but in the south east it looks like sunny all next week so I hope you get that too! Have fun :-)
Lovely and guest video x

Ah, I'm a fair way past you by now but cheers
Thank you.
Thanxs David another great vlog, you're in my neck of the woods now. we are moored at Kingfisher Marina next to baxters boatyard, Yardley Gobion :-)
Ha! Already gone past you. Nice spot that though :-)
A wood chipper on a barge makes quick work of tree branches. One worker trims, the other feeds the chipper. Instant wood chips and so much more compact than a pile of brush
Another great Vlog, re the cranes, many crane companies don't like lifting boats, too many issues.
Lovely vid, would like to see how the canal banks are realigned.
Great to have you back! Forgive my curiosity, but what's that funny looking green pole on your roof that we see at the end of the video?
Ah - that's a bird feeder pole which I was storing on my roof and forgot to remove before I set off so now it's there until I get back to my mooring!
Oh I see, I did wonder if it was the remains of a fisherman!
I enjoyed this trip. Like most people, l've always fancied living on a narrow boat. I don't know if this is what you do full time, but if it is. 👍
Yes it is!
@@CruisingTheCut 👍
Like it good vid thnx.
Hi David hope you are well, have you a favourite place in your travels that you have moored up and thought this will do me I could stay here forever
Yes, some spots on the River Avon but if I were going to sit and be static and be on the Avon I'd like a widebeam Dutch barge type of vessel.
Its a 'tennis match' voice, that's what you have... I've been trying to place it.... still catching up.
Tring , the Wendover arm, and the Aylesbury arm may give you a break from the trains
Nice video thanks going to Whilton Marina next week to look at boats .Through the hedge now where have I heard that 😁
Whilton's great for looking around lots of boats, they're very friendly. I do think they tend to overprice their boats quite a bit though.
