  • Seed Oyster beds provide oyster growers with product. See how one large scale producer harvests and plants this massive amount of product.
    Commercial fishing, oysters, shellfish, fishing, boats, ships, amazing.

      Amazing that these boats are 100 years old and still work hard. Yes they sure are pretty boats.

    why do they move them somewhere else in the first place?

    • @thecatchwithjardar3529
      @thecatchwithjardar3529  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s two reasons. First, this is a public resource “natural bed”, where the oysters set and commercials growers can get seed for grow out on their private grounds. Second, where oysters set heavy it is important to move them to more spacious areas so they can grow faster and better shaped. This will be covered in a future video so please subscribe!!!

    Interesting but sent this overfishing?

      This is a managed “natural bed”, meaning it’s an area where oyster set very well and has been reserved for use by commercial growers to get seed.
      There is an area upriver that is off limits to any harvest so there will always be brood stock present to spawn. Also the dredge size and hand winding is helps regulate the harvest always leaving some oysters to reproduce.
      This could be a good follow up video thanks for the comment.

    Who plants the original oyster seeds at the mouth? Natural reproduction? Norm Bloom Co.? The state?

    • @thecatchwithjardar3529
      @thecatchwithjardar3529  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is where the oysters naturally set, so natural reproduction. If they beds were not worked thoroughly, the oysters would be crowded and not grow properly for a commercial food product. So by moving them and spreading them out they grow faster and better, and the following year the set has clean substrate to set on.

      İki sebep var. Birincisi, bu, istiridyelerin yetiştirildiği ve ticari yetiştiricilerin kendi özel arazilerinde büyütmek için tohum alabildiği bir kamu kaynağı “doğal yatak”. İkincisi, istiridyelerin ağırlaştığı yerlerde, daha hızlı büyüyebilmeleri ve daha iyi şekillenebilmeleri için onları daha geniş alanlara taşımak önemlidir. Bu, gelecekteki bir videoda ele alınacaktır, bu yüzden lütfen abone olun!!
