京都 青蓮院門跡 Shoren-in Temple in Kyoto

青蓮院は、日本天台宗の祖である最澄が比叡山延暦寺を開くにあたってつくった僧侶の住坊を起源としています。木村英輝が描いた襖絵や室町時代の絵師相阿弥がつくった庭をみることができます。
Shorenin originated as the residence for monks established by Saicho, the founder of the Tendai school of Buddhism, when he founded the Enryaku-ji temple on Mount Hiei.
