What a pleasant surprise to see a reaction to ONF. I can't find a bias in this group, love them all too much. I started liking them during Sukhumvit Swimming and so proud of how well they did on Road to Kingdom. Their sound is just different and the concept is always keeping me guessing. The other part I love about them so much is that they all decided to enter the military together regardless of their age. since no one else said it, their name is actually pronounced "on and off", it is just stylized as "ONF" in english. (though no one will get mad at you for saying it as ONF so don't worry lol). ONF aren't that well known among international fans but they have gained quite a bit of popularity in SK, especially after they competed on Road To Kingdom in 2020. All of their songs and mvs ars great, but I highly recommend either "Beautiful Beautiful" which is upbeat and bright with amazing cgi and came directly before Ugly Dance, or "Why" which is darker and is very cinematic, with most (if not all?) of the mv being shot in Europe. it is a bit funny you reacted to their MV that is more like a very fancy performance video compared to the rest of their music videos lol, but in terms of the sci-fi concept it only gets more intense from here!

They've been working with the same producer, Hwang Hyun for so long, they've created their own style and that's one sound I just LOVE ! They've gone to the army as a group (a first in kpop), so hopefully we'll see them come back quickly with their signature sound ! I know I'll wait !

Thank you so much for checking out ONF!! 🥺 Other people already recommended songs and provided info on the group, so I’ll just talk about the MV skxjsk The MV was 99% filmed by an arm robot (the last 1% being the intro and the non choreography parts), hence why the camerawork looks so clean and kinda CGI-ed (not to mention the flawless transitions)! Arm robots are programmed/animated beforehand on a software (similar to 3D softwares), however the filming takes even longer than “normal” ones because the robot needs some time to process each movement from the “subject” it’s supposed to capture. It’s even more difficult for choreographies because of the complicated movements, which is why it took a total of 16 hours of filming to make this MV (adding the fact that ONF had to film the entire choreography at least twice, considering the outfit “swaps”). You may have already seen the MV of “HUMBLE.” by Kendrick Lamar, which also uses an arm robot at one point although the “subjects” filmed are completely static (it’s recognizable by the extreme angles and clean camera movements - I looked it up, it’s at 1:57 in the video)! As for the 3D robots, they used motion capture to animate them and took as reference their main dancer U (the guy in the center at 2:55 and 5:22)! They already used a motion suit in one of their previous MVs btw (“Beautiful Beautiful”, which I recommend hehe - probably their most colorful cyberpunk MV so far). Also fun fact, which you probably didn’t notice like the most of us: at 2:33-2:34, they actually broke the floor when they hit it with their feet lol (you can see the cracks on the bottom-left skxjsk). They had to change the tile afterwards, but they still kept the shot (because it looks cool) 🥲
