The key to the Saints season depends on the QB decisions and the O-Line protection. If they can get that right, they'll be a playoff team... the defense and special teams are already playoff caliber. Player execution in Kubiak 's system will be the key to the 2024-25 season
I remember Terron Armstead's first couple games and he was terrible. Towards the end of that season, he had made a leap. This is especially true of the O-Linemen that you have to get whipped in order to grow. Some grow faster than others, but the staff needs to stick with him and allow him to get better.
Yes 3rd year on the roster, but he missed his rookie season, and was yanked after 2 starts last year. So he has virtually no experience. He needs to take his lumps. He needs to win some and lose some to get better, and that only comes with live reps against pro competition. As I mentioned, Armstead got whipped badly his first several stops. Coach Payton made sure to scheme help for him until he needed help less and less until he developed. You have to find out what you have with him this season, and that's allowing him more than 2 starts to improve. I think this system will help him out tremendously.
Stinchcomb is right though. In terms of upside and talent, Penning is a lot better than what we have as backups. He needs more experience though and the only way for it is for Penning to get his butt kicked a few times to be better. He made the rookie Darius Robinson looked good in week 1 of preseason, but played better the last 2. Only time will tell at this point. We still need depth there though.
@@MattMuas97 He needs to get Kyle Turley nasty!! Just nasty!!! It’s in him! ⚜️ The staff does a poor job of shifting that fire into a great lineman. Kyle Turley nasty!!! ⚜️⚜️⚜️
I just hope he gets better watching him come out his stance in pass protection looked not good, his run blocking is good. He just needs more reps but Saints would be wise to mix in another OT during the game.
Thats not realistic though. O lineman dont usually swap out during the games. His best way to get better at pass pro is to throw him in the fire and let him work out his improvements.
Fuaug should have never been removed from right tackle is his position didn't give up a sack in college against top tier defenses they put him in a position to fail I think it's bs how many chances does Trevor p get he should have been replaced by a veteran
Finally someone said it, it’s not fair to Fuaug who’s played right tackle his whole career now if he struggles they gonna try to say he’s a bust when they really set him up to fail
Dennis Allen's refusal to address the shortcomings of the oline in the offseason is going to lead to a disappointing season and hopefully lead to his firing.
I don’t get this comment and I hear it all the time. They literally changed the OC to find a scheme to help the lineman, brought in the best coaches at the position and drafted the future at LT. And they brought in guys that were vets, young and talented guys and no one seized the opportunity. DA has tried everything, maybe the evaluations by scouts were poor but it wasn’t a refusal
@aaronwillis3593 Between head coach Dennis Allen and Derrick Carr there are 15 NFL seasons and zero playoff wins. How much more of this bullsheet do you have to see to realize what you think is gonna happen, is not??? How many chances should they be given?? Should we wait another 15 seasons for it to click for these guys??
Idk man, look at the footage from that Cardinals game, with one of the worst defensive lines and Trevor looked like some random guy just put on a jersey and was fumbling around. I wasn't angry or anything I just felt bad for him, he looks lost on the football field and doesn't even make contact many of the times with the person he's supposed to be blocking. I saw better play from our other tackles below him on the depth chart. But then again Rattler looks better than Carr. If Dennis Allen doesn't make adjustments and moves when there is an obvious need, like he routinely hasn't over the past few years, we need to just say goodbye. I don't care if it's mid season. Sick of seeing inaction.
Dennis Allen doesn't do anything. D-line may look better than the O-line, but the O-line is atrocious at this point so that isn't saying much. I expect to have a new head coach next season. Don't see this one going well at all.
Well I’ll tell you who sucks & won’t be there. The punter from down under. 🦘🦘 I’m glad that experiment is over. Poor field position all year last year on punts….

Saints OL a mess. Job 1 off-season should have been fix OL. They didn't

I bet Bub has a sore quad... he got blasted
He is going to get Carr hurt.
Raw power?? Sound like a Guard to me
That OL sucks
