Reparations in the form of compensation was paid using taxpayer money up until 2015 to the Bank of England.

I've had enough of this.. National Trust should be renamed National Disgrace. As it happened my renewal is just coming up in August.. It's £91.20 for an individual membership, not for me anymore so just cancelled and emailed them my reasons.

I stopped contributing to the National Trust after I visited a property where they were peddling the lie that staff who worked in the house were slaves. In those days local poor people were happy to work up at the big house. It was a privilege. To get a family member a job there was life changing, they were well provided for. They were clothed, well fed and had a bed. They were a community. You can’t impose modern values on previous generations , times were totally different. Those poeple who work for the NT should get their facts right.

Was looking forward to getting a national trust membership when I retired. Now I have, I no longer intending to visit any of their properties let alone getting a membership. They are a charity put in place to protect our heritage, period, not destroy it by their politics! Until they change their priorities I will not be changing my mind.🤬

When have you ever seen a person in a burka traipsing around the countryside - might be a bit problematic all that fresh air, trees etc and only able to see where you are going through two slits. Also when have you seen black youths enjoying a day quietly fishing or hiking. The problem is that the countryside does not have mobile phone shops, sports shops and street corners which all appear to be very popular with that demographic.

(Almost all of my ancestors, including my father and two grandfathers, were tenant farmers who farmed in the Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire area).
Also, some people who have ancestors who were slaves, also have ancestors who were slave owners. What then? It could get very complicated.

Yeah it's a middle class thing in National Trust properties and country hotels etc and middle class people are predominantly white and white working class might be less inclined to visit these attractions same with museums. I'm white working class and my parents never took me to any museums because it didn't interest them so the didn't take me.

I live in the Yorkshire Dales and the National Trust has a lot of farms round and about. I must say I have not seen them rent them to anyone who is not white. Do what you preach National Trust or is it that they can't find anyone other than white people who want and have the skills to run these farms.
