You guys just make me smile. Being mom of 3 adult children and watching them over years doing projects to their homes i can only imagine how amazed and proud your families must be.
Yes, our son doubled the size of his house by finishing his basement. It has a full kitchen and bath, gym room, office and huge common area. All the finishes are top grade and he completed all the work himself with no money borrowed. We joke that it is nicer than the upstairs ( builder grade) 🤣 It took 3 years working at it with a full time job. We are VERY PROUD of what he did to improve the quality of life his family will have in this house for years to come. You go, Spencer👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

So much this. It's nice that your lives get better from what you've done, but it's different when it's your kids. It's so much more. I'm a single dad, and it's been a very hard, long run. But a when my eldest told me he loved our house, out of nowhere, it really hit hard.
I’ve been watching you guys almost from the beginning; sometimes I would feel like yelling through the screen to suggest a better alternative to your process but you’ve always come through. I’m in my 70’s, I’ve built several homes over years as a contractor; this project with the small vanity reminded me of the same situation I had to deal a couple of years ago in our “new to us” home. You did a better job of than I did. You’ve both really done good with everything.

15:40 a Dremel is just one of those tools that every handy man should have in the collection, it's such a great tool for all the fine and up close tasks, would have made quick and easy work of that.

They should build more, could do a container work-shop for Spencer, container home office, they could have some stand alone buildings. I would personally be interested to see some content on the animals they keep and all that too. But, yeah this is going to be very different once the home is done.

Spencer...you should have used an oscillating tool with a (plunge cut) saw blade for your P-trap pipe hole. Its the single best tool I own... its saved me hundreds of hours of construction time!!! I remember when I ripped up all the old baseboard in our house prior to having the hardwood refinished. It's gonna really finish things off nicely when you have the floor, door & window trim all done.

My husband and I were just watching this video and reminiscing of all the homes we have built for ourselves. When something was said about needing countertops and appliances and this and that in the kitchen before cooking can be done, I was thinking of having temporary plywood countertops and cooking in only an electric skillet with 3 children at my feet and plywood floors before we even installed flooring!! It can all be done in time - no need for a full kitchen to feed the family home-cooked meals!! Love your videos!!

If it is going to be a while before countertops are installed just get some plywood and make some. I have also used Cedar fence boards installed with one layer long ways and the other from front to back. The edges might need trimming to smooth them out but once the edges are clean it is an almost invisible seam. It sands out beautifully. Smells great and can take water all day long.
I love watching you KIDS, been watching since the beginning, watching you install your new frig....we had the identical one as you, it only lasted 8 years, stopped working and technician could not fix it. So we had to purchase a new frig. The technician told us they have the most trouble with LG. Good, now you tell us when our whole kitchen is outfitted with LG. Hope you have better luck. The Dremel Multi Max would have saved your life with that cut in the bathroom vanity. I bought one for installing a new bathroom vanity so I wouldn't have to remove the baseboard trim and it saved me so much time. Wondering now how I lived so long without one. House is looking great. Keep up the good work!
Please consider low voltage fan for ceiling. This removes hot air from the ceiling area and blows it outside. We got Quiet Cool for the condo no a/c needed on some days. You can also combine with a/c.

As a Plumber and all these new cabinet designs I have had to notch brand new cabinets. Hole saws are your friend. Nice clean cuts. Easily the biggest pain is the vanities with half drawers and half shelves.
I remember a video from a while ago where Spenser removed three snakes to the nearby wood. People were commenting saying you should kill them. I'm so glad you are still ignoring those comments. Congratulations on your new home. It's quite nice; however, I recommend you consider replacing the "pine-colored" floors with a greyish-blue slate-type floor. I suggest you get a few samples and place each next to the entry-way door at the end of your hallway. I believe an interior design professional would recommend no more than three colors that match. The existing floor would be good for your barn. Good Luck.

Spencer...you should have used an oscillating tool with a (plunge cut) saw blade for your P-trap pipe hole. Its the single best tool I own... its saved me hundreds of hours of construction time!!!

I remember when I ripped up all the old baseboard in our house prior to having the hardwood refinished. It's gonna really finish things off nicely when you have the floor, door & window trim all done.

I understand the frustration when a project goes into the ditch when it should be sooooo simple! I don't think there are many people here that can truly understand the milestone that you reached getting running water into the house 3 years later. So many people take their daily conveniences for granted, but not you guys! This video made me smile and laugh so much. "...Not what you said last night!" My husband and I were just watching this video and reminiscing of all the homes we have built for ourselves. When something was said about needing countertops and appliances and this and that in the kitchen before cooking can be done, I was thinking of having temporary plywood countertops and cooking in only an electric skillet with 3 children at my feet and plywood floors before we even installed flooring!! It can all be done in time - no need for a full kitchen to feed the family home-cooked meals!! Love your videos!!

The flooring is beautiful. It brings a nice, rustic warmth to the clean, straight lines of the rest of the home.
If it is going to be a while before countertops are installed just get some plywood and make some. I have also used Cedar fence boards installed with one layer long ways and the other from front to back. The edges might need trimming to smooth them out but once the edges are clean it is an almost invisible seam. It sands out beautifully. Smells great and can take water all day long.

I love watching you KIDS, been watching since the beginning, watching you install your new frig....we had the identical one as you, it only lasted 8 years, stopped working and technician could not fix it. So we had to purchase a new frig. The technician told us they have the most trouble with LG. Good, now you tell us when our whole kitchen is outfitted with LG. Hope you have better luck. The Dremel Multi Max would have saved your life with that cut in the bathroom vanity. I bought one for installing a new bathroom vanity so I wouldn't have to remove the baseboard trim and it saved me so much time. Wondering now how I lived so long without one. House is looking great. Please consider low voltage fan for ceiling. This removes hot air from the ceiling area and blows it outside. We got Quiet Cool for the condo no a/c needed on some days. You can also combine with a/c.

I would install 1/4 inch snake-proof mesh to your fencing, buried 6 inches underground. And for the climbers include a foot-wide ledge made of wood or metal flashing along the outer side at the top.

As a Plumber and all these new cabinet designs I have had to notch brand new cabinets. Hole saws are your friend. Nice clean cuts. Easily the biggest pain is the vanities with half drawers and half shelves.
I remember a video from a while ago where Spenser removed three snakes to the nearby wood. People were commenting saying you should kill them. I'm so glad you are still ignoring those comments. Teaching your kids to respect wildlife and not kill it is by far the best way, nowadays more than ever. Kudos!!

Congratulations on your new home. It's quite nice; however, I recommend you consider replacing the "pine-colored" floors with a greyish-blue slate-type floor. I suggest you get a few samples and place each next to the entry-way door at the end of your hallway. I believe an interior design professional would recommend no more than three colors that match. The existing floor would be good for your barn. Good Luck.
