I have painted the cadian Christmas box. I now have to get through 2 vombat patrols and lord solar to finish the Guard. For leviathan, i got it in last month and have assembled and primed them. Space marine half has base coats down and has solid progress. To round out my list i have another combat patrol and some dreads on the way. So progress has been solid, but i have to keep it up.
5:1 paint to buy ratio seems really high to me, and might be unrealistic for some people who paint very slowly or purchase a lot of kits. I think even 3:1 or 2:1 paint to purchase would get people moving in the right direction, but still be achievable and encourage people that they are moving in the right direction!
I really thought I wouldn't fall into this trap. First all i wanted was a Doomwheel, then a basic skaven army.. oh I want to collect Tzeench demons too, better collect chaos 40k army for value.. oh new blood angels, if i was to ever get into space marines it would be blood angels.. oh crap I now have 2 years worth of crap to paint and Ive barely gotten though a spearheads box.
These are some "kill bots", I got them from Ramshackle Games. Curtis, the owner, is a really nice guy and makes some awesome looking miniatures! I also have a review on my channel :)
IDK I'm not ashamed. I have several boxes so I always have something to look forward to. I don't open a new box until I'm done with the previous one, so they're all sealed. Worst case scenario is I will quit the hobby someday and re-sell them on e-bay at a premium because by then they'll be old and rare sets😮
Have only finished about a fifth of my leviathan box since none of the two factions are the army i actually collect. Got the large soul blight gravelords release as well mostly unfinished but definitely not as bad as leviathan, i limited myself for the 40k army i'm actually trying to build rn (death guard) to only buying new kits when the last purchase is battleready and any other kits unrelated to my main army have to wait until both leviathan and the vengorian court are battle ready as well. The temptation is big but seeing some progress even tho it's a tiny one is allready well worth it
@@StarsServent I have lots of friends who are generally interested in playing 40k but aren't willing to pay and paint minis. I thought the box might be a good way to get 2 easy to pick up armies who are somewhat balanced for a quick game with them.
I'm just using it because the term "pile of shame" seems to be the most used for something like this. But I'm not actually ashamed 😅 How would you call it?

Thanks :)
Selling parts of your collection is an option I don't see getting mentioned all that much but definitely makes sense.
Yeah it can be kinda painful, so I think that's why.
I think I will take the, 10+ minutes of work every day, in action, to reduce my pile of potential :) great video
Awesome!
Let me know if it works for you :)

Yeah I'm impressed! Great work :)
Hopefully you can keep it up. I'm noticing it's quite hard for me, so I'm a little behind 😅

Yeah I agree! I just did 5:1 for myself to really make it hard to purchase some stuff. But 3:1 or 2:1 are also great options of course :)

Hahaha yeah exactly, very relatable :p
What are the 'armoured bullet' in the left of the display case in the opening? They look sweet!

Yeah good point! I'm also not really ashamed, but I must admit that I'm not as disciplined as you are 😅

Yeah that sounds like a great approach :)
The temptation can be high sometimes 😅
But keep it up!
Why did you buy the Leviathan box if you don't collect nids or marries?

yer ok, that makes mores sense.@@Ju_lee137
actually we have 366 days this year.
But thanks for the tips. Never thought of selling some stuff, this would likely take out some preasure.
😳
Glad you liked the tips :)
tammo thinks the shades you are throwing are a bit too real. I for a fact, think you are right!
Sounds like Tammo needs a healthy dose of reality 😬

Sounds good 👌
Do you think it’s worth using the term “pile of shame”? I guess some people are motivated by shame

@@tabletop-craftsman totally get that. I like “pile of potential” but that’s all personal preference and semantics I guess 😁
Yeah I like pile of potential as well, would have been a good alternative :)
@@tabletop-craftsmanalso many use pile of opportunity to put a more positive spin on it. Good luck on your painting (and buying) goals this year!
That one is also nice. And thank you! Hope you have a good one.
