ravishingly beautiful singing...such extraordinarily fine and sensitive phrasing as could only be achieved by two great singers with peerless musicality and flawless techniques. Bravi!
Sublime, conducted ever so slowly, torturingly slowly, just as it should be, the voices matched in tempo and volume, the orchestra violins swelling and subsiding, and Love conquering the darkest of destinies. Her first recording with Vickers is also superb here. Wonderful!
Overall I prefer Karajan conducting Aida and the pairing of Tebaldi and Bergonzi in his recording was excellent. However, Leontyne Price is my personal favourite as Aida and this duet is sublime. Bergonzi was not a "superstar" tenor, but he was (in my opinion) one of the greats - he could put remarkable feeling into his solo arias and he seemed to have the ability to match his voice with whichever soprano he was performing with. This is not two singers side by side, this is a true duet in which the music is shared by two outstanding performers to produce something very rare and very special. TH-cam has Leontyne Price singing this duet with Franco Corelli, Jon Vickers, Luciano Pavarotti and others. For me, the Price/Bergonzi duet is the best of them all.
She is so sweet here. I am in deep love with her. She is responsible for my love of opera. She has the most beautiful soprano voice I have ever heard (my opinion).

Very well sung no doubt but the real classic for this duet is by Giovanni Marinelli and Rosa Ponselle.
