How Much Money Do Resident Doctors Earn? Is it Worth the Hours?

Hey everyone, I wanted to talk about a sensitive topic in an objective way, because there's a lot of misinformation around resident physicians' pay, hours and working conditions.

I understand that I am making generalizations, and that I might grossly under/overestimate a few things, but I tried to keep it as real as possible, and reflect what I've seen personally. Especially, there is a lot of variation in work hours per week according to specialties, but yearly base salary remains the same.

Well considering I didn't know residents get payed. Thats pretty 👍. I wonder is it less or more in the US 🇺🇸? BUT U ARE ONE WHO is excited about getting where u are so far so young. Your getting paid all ready for getting your education. I'm happy for u. Helps with bills!

Two of my siblings did their residencies in the US and I've also got colleagues who either did or are currently doing their residencies in the US. I can confirm that medical residents in the US usually earn more than their counterparts in Canada.
