I was jumped on 96th & Lexington. On the downtown platform heading home from school... Myself and 3 of my friends. We were surrounded by 40 people We fought as hard and long as we could. I was stabbed in the abdomen and was in a coma uni the week of the 12th of November. Maybe I'll talk about one of these days. I'm just glad we all survived and we're ok .
0:56- The Subway Samaritan, a man in his late 20s who came to the defense of a 44 year old French man being robbed and beat on an uptown 2 train after he left his catering job at 4am on December 10, 1989. He lived in the City for 20 years at the time. The Samaritan told them to stop the "nonsense" and when they didn't comply, he said "we're not going to have any more of this", took a knife and plunged it into one of the robbers' chests. His cohort abandoned him and the guy died at Harlem Hospital. He was a career criminal and had stolen possessions on him at the time of his death. UPDATE! - I found some more info! The 20-year-old cohort turned himself in two and a half weeks later at the stationhouse with his lawyer because he knew police were looking for him. Both guys were arrested the previous month for a separate subway robbery of hundreds of dollars and a cassette player. The one who was fatally stabbed was 23 years old and both were homeless. The Subway Samaritan used a folding knife.

If they would have filmed her on this she would have looked pretty grown up. 1989 wasn't a very long time ago, in the grand scheme of things. Also the news reporter Rosanna Scotto is still doing her thing today, at 66. She's on every morning on Good Day New York. Just saw her 3 days ago.
