Such a great video. Loved listening to the presenter talk enthusiastically about the CSI. Never knew it had a strong pedigree on the track, since all you hear about is the M3 e30. It’s such a beautiful car, Thank you so much!

In Switzerland there is a Fella who raced his Original Group 2 635CSI on Hillclimb Events and still does occasionaly. A blast to watch that Car especially the Brutal Sound of it!

I’ve had a Euro 635 and “need” to sell it to get an M635 and just can’t bring myself to do it. It’s not a speedy car like the M..But it’s just so purely perfect and also I know it is durable and reliable. It’s the body shape and the noises that really do it for me. Long live all the sharks ! 👍

Isn't the 635CSi (and the E24 in general) already one of the greats itself?

Sopme great insights into driving such a classic touring car racer.
However, I feel I need to point out that the 'other class' Sam mentioned are from an older set of regulations - not younger (group 2, 1970-1981).

Won the first DTM in 1984 and apart from these three drivers of the original unit, others like Jean-Michel Martin, father of Máxime, also raced it with good results...

      Hell, yeah.
Driving a 635CSi is always a treat; a privilege, that feels like you're in something special, doing something special. I imagine the owners of any fine Automobiles or Motorcycles know the feeling. You feel like you're lucky & it's good to be alive. They attract admiring looks everywhere you go, and flattering comments anywhere you stop.
And owning an E24 6 Series isn't difficult or expensive....Like all premium German cars of that era, they are over engineered and built like tanks. They come from the generation prior to airbags and just before electronics in vehicles underwent a significant evolutionary leap in which they became far more complex & pervasive with features like Fly-By-Wire throttles, Sat-Nav, Stability, Traction, & Torque Control, and more. Despite being fuel injected and sporting some very basic electronics & gadgets, if optioned with them, like electric seats, sunroof, windows, & mirrors, due to their mid-1970's roots they still feel Old Skool "Analogue", and more like a real car, not a mobile computer station or social media platform. As long as you observe proper service & maintenance practices and look after the beasts, most consumable parts are no more expensive than a Ford or GM car, and because of their solid engineering, any instances of expensive components that require replacement occur infrequently unless you drive your cars mercilessly hard like a madman, in which case ANY car will exhibit expensive failures, and you can only blame yourself.
I wouldn't sell my 635CSi's for any price, and have declined lucrative & interesting offers to trade my cars for other exotic & desirable vehicles of greater value. Once you get hooked on them, it's a hard habit to kick!
