Hey Aliex, thanks for reviewing the MahiMahi from Vanhunks! I'm a guide out of Gulf Coast Kayak in S.W. Florida and switched to this kayak about a year ago. I can attest to the stability of this boat in the ocean and as I like to stand up to scout and cast I can use it as a SUP. The fin drive is rock solid, fast and flattens out under the kayak in shallow water. There is a ton of deck storage front and back and the foam padding is easy and non slip on your feet. This company has this cool feature where the drive system fits in a through the hull box that also comes as a solid insert if you only paddle and they now have a propeller drive system with a matching deck insert. Very innovative! Also check out the flush deck rails front and back for attachments and two through hull, flush rod holders. This kayak is only 79 lbs. with seat and drive system and the price is almost half of some competitors. Totally worth every penny! Dan
Dan how are you still liking your kayak? I went to their wholesaler in florida today and am looking at buying 1 buy want to get owners thoughts as I was not able to test it. Please let me know any pros or cons you have. Thank you
Hey Jesse, in full disclosure I’ve since been chosen to represent Vanhunks as a pro staff member. But Im in love with my Mahimahi fishing kayak. Super versatile and rock solid as I fish all the time in salt and fresh water. It’s feature rich and not cheap as the video tittle suggests!
Went out on the vanhunks sauger tandem with my 6 year old son and I... about 4 miles of paddling. I was impressed with the kayaks performance. I am getting a fin drive assembly for our next excursion, will update with fin drive on sauger.
I'm looking to pull the trigger on sauger as well. Can't find any water reviews on this things. Mike , you still enjoying it? Any concerns with the fin drive built quality? Thank you
Good stuff. I'd choose PDL with forward and reverse for sure when given the choice at about the same price. The only way I'd go with a forward only fins is if I was always fishing in 10" of water. I find it's not that often that I have to paddle my PDL drive kayak due to being in super shallow water.
Just bought my self the vanhunks shad 10, vanhunks is a South African company. The shad hasn't come out yet got the first one in South Africa. Going out on Sunday for the first time.

I have Enjoy Kayak's with PDL drive. It looks like they are made at the same factory as the Vanhunk's, Dream and the Brooklyn Kayak. Too many similar features and many exact features to be coincidental. That being said I think these slightly cheaper kayaks are a nice option. I am picky and these do work when it come to covering water , stability and comfort. You need more then this buy a boat.
Another good video, another diamond in rough. The reversible pedal drive should be included by now. I have a couple preferences that are not included but at the price point its forgiveable. The bow entry is sharp and it should track OK. Get one and flip it for fun. It should be a great starter kayak, or a go to for infrequent users. There is alot of room for a passenger or the tag along pet as well. The stepped tankwell is different but might have been needed for rigidity. There is alot of flat space, overall looks good.
Hey, bought one and the unit is very stable first kayak, so here are the pitfalls of this design. - scupper holes are below the waterline on the rear, so if you weigh more than 180 lbs plus your gear and the seal is not good your are taking on water. -steering handle is too far forward, and the line failed after 4 months had to replace them. - seat is too low, everyone has to put a lift kit on it. - locking tabs on the fin drive broke after the second outing, they have new stainless steel ones now but you have to call it in. -rudder is tucked in and doesn't break the plane of the hull to the kayak turns like a barge. this kayak has a good foundation but needs a lot of mods, gonna buy a Santa Cruz next. Good luck.

To buy made in America is a great thing. In the Kayak game fewer brands are truly made in America than not. Remember that manufactured and assembled in America is not the same as made in America. Many can’t afford a 2400-5000 kayak, so a China made kayak will suffice.

We have one and have not been impressed. The rudder control system is definitely the weak point. It is very crude and ours broke the 3rd time out on the water. Good luck finding help or service. The company rep sent me new steering cord material but it keeps breaking the cords like it did the first time. They need to rethink and redesign the rudder control.
It very simple to replace the ropes with thin cable in plasitc sleaves. And moving the stearing handle closer to the seat improves its smootheness as well. I have no complains really
@@feelgoodfishingwithhenko251 Replacing them shouldn’t have to occur after just 2-3 times on the water. It is easy but why should you even have to do it on a basically brand new vessel.

How much longer will it be land of the free, home of the brave ????
I hate to say it , but this isn't the land of the free! How could it be when everything has a fee? Plus if you are told when you can work or not, go into stores and or get your house you paid for in full for less than 10% in back taxes!!! Naw more like the Land of the fee and the home of the slave! Once your third eye opens you will never see things the same. Soon people will be rounded up for not taking the experimental drug in the so called land of the free 🤣
Super stabil. I have one in SWFL. I put an extra seat and fish with my 8 yr old back to back. I can fish standing no problem. Free board is kind of low so I get wet on occasion
So, the seller experienced challenges with the great interruption in the supply chain, but never gave up in getting me the kayak. Great integrity and we’re always kind and helpful…
@@AliexFolgueira I can see and appreciate that, at the same time kind of the idea of Chinese knock off crap. Only the question is what’s it cost vs name brand with similar features?
GREAT VIDEO!! I will never buy another cheap kayak because I fish about 1 to 2 days a week. I had a P.O.S. BigFish 108 had its hull fracture 3 months after use around the area where the molding curves up at the pedal drive. IMO 1800$ is P.O.S. BUT if you only fish once or twice a month and only go to a few spots that you're going to fish shrimp at then I absolutely recommend 1000-!800 pedal drive kayaks even if you don't fish. Exploring and getting out for a picnic on a small island is perfect for pedal drive systems. Fin or propellor. just make sure you test drive it first. And stay away from any kayak with a TRI hull design. The extra stability is marginal and it makes it VVVVEEEEERRRRRYYYY slow in the water and VVVEEEERRRYYY HEAVY.
I am really not a fan of these China-made kayaks. They all look like they come from the same manufacturer and are cheaply made. I had one and took very good care of it, the plastic faded in 10 months and I don't even store it in the sun.
Great vid guys. This looks like the kayak I've been searching for for months. Only problem is I live in England and no one seems to stock them. I know it's a long shot , but do you have any idea if Vanhunks have any plans to sell them here . Cheers
WHERE AND WHAT STORE TO BUY CHINESE CHEAP PEDAL KAYAK , ,, I WOULD LIKE BEST MADE IN USA BUT CAN NOT AFFORD IT , SINCE I AM 70 YEARS OLD ON A FIXED INCOME RETIRED ON DISABILITY I CAN ONLY AFFORD CHEAP PEDAL KAYAK ,,
To my knowledge the least expensive pedal kayaks are Pelican and Hoodoo. Pelicans are made in America but their low price point for their pedal kayaks are noticeable in their pedal kayaks. Hoodoo Kayaks are made in China. Their pedal kayaks seem to be a bit better than Pelican pedal kayaks in my opinion.
Aliex, I like watching your channel and enjoy it very much. I presently have a Jackson Kraken 15'7" ocean kayak. But, if I didn't...and no offense intended towards you in anyway. I WOULDN'T BUY A KAYAK made in china. I don't want any of my money supporting the CCP in any manner. Just my thought on this.
Where are Vanhunks kayaks made? Started in South Africa, Vanhunks defines quality and practicality for a fishing kayak at a very affordable price. Vanhunks is a 100% family owned business that is really starting to make its dent in the quickly growing fishing kayak industry.
I have one. Its really nice. Move the stearing handle closer to the seat. It fits right behind the hanfle. Fin drive is very effective ...even through water lillies. I enjoy it for sure..even stand on it...i am 90 kg..
I'm not even going to lie. I have subscribed and watched many of your videos. Heck I have even bought 3 different kayaks in the last year based off your reviews. This kayak looks cool but come on. Not worthy in my opinion. Especially since it's a complete knock off. I can't get over how far you would have to lean over or move your seat way up to reach the rudder control. The storage areas look completely unusable unless your just tossing stuff in there randomly. I can keep going. But hey in the kayak world you definitely get what you pay for. I have owned a lightning strike, Hobie passport, nucanoe f12, and currently a old town AP120 and countless other sit in / sit on top kayaks. Sorry for ragging on that kayak so much but I honestly don't think it even really compares to any other kayak you have reviewed.
Any kayak from China is NOT worth it, especially when we have some high quality mfg's like Ocean Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Old Town, etc. that are tried and true, hold their value, have excellent warranties and customer service, and made in the USA
What’s the point of having a guest? You know more than the guest,God you are so enlightened. You are definitely arrogant. Watch your videos sometime. You might puke! Good day to you Sir.

Super stabil. I have one in SWFL. I put an extra seat and fish with my 8 yr old back to back. I can fish standing no problem. Free board is kind of low so I get wet on occasion
Got a sauger 12ft tandem kayak... my 6 year old son and I had no problem staying afloat on it!
So, the seller experienced challenges with the great interruption in the supply chain, but never gave up in getting me the kayak. Great integrity and we’re always kind and helpful…
So, what do they feel it's worth?
I personally think it is too much of a copy of other boats
@@AliexFolgueira I can see and appreciate that, at the same time kind of the idea of Chinese knock off crap. Only the question is what’s it cost vs name brand with similar features?
@@AliexFolgueira Looks like a water down version of a Shearwater
Believe it is made in Africa. I have one, and like it a lot. It was well thought out.
If I have to purchase anything from China in order to fish, I guess I’ll never fish again.
Then you won’t be able to because the line or the hooks or the material or the pieces of the reel something is made in China
looks like it would be uncomfortable. seat is low and the pedals are super high in comparison
didnt get to try the seat
How much is this kayak
Link to it?
Link to the store that sells them in description
Si vabbe'....... ma quanto costa in europa?
I am really not a fan of these China-made kayaks. They all look like they come from the same manufacturer and are cheaply made. I had one and took very good care of it, the plastic faded in 10 months and I don't even store it in the sun.
Certainly look like it was a copy, the thing is with such low supply of yaks people will have to get whatever they can
Great vid guys. This looks like the kayak I've been searching for for months. Only problem is I live in England and no one seems to stock them. I know it's a long shot , but do you have any idea if Vanhunks have any plans to sell them here .
Cheers
Still waiting for the price
Como esta frijole "how you bean" my friend??????
I almost bought this a month ago but got scared because of the lack of on water reviews
@Kao Yang currently looking at the hobie compass. I really want that reverse drive lol
Free lure 2 tandem overview please!!!!!!
Won't say the website, seen same boat under 500.00, thats quite a markup from getting the unit direct.
WHERE AND WHAT STORE TO BUY CHINESE CHEAP PEDAL KAYAK , ,, I WOULD LIKE BEST MADE IN USA BUT CAN NOT AFFORD IT ,
SINCE I AM 70 YEARS OLD ON A FIXED INCOME RETIRED ON DISABILITY I CAN ONLY AFFORD CHEAP PEDAL KAYAK ,,
To my knowledge the least expensive pedal kayaks are Pelican and Hoodoo. Pelicans are made in America but their low price point for their pedal kayaks are noticeable in their pedal kayaks. Hoodoo Kayaks are made in China. Their pedal kayaks seem to be a bit better than Pelican pedal kayaks in my opinion.
Hey Alex, correct me if I'm wrong, but with all the research I've done, Vanhunks kayaks are made in North Carolina.. Not China..
Nop, they aren't made in North Carolina
Aliex, I like watching your channel and enjoy it very much. I presently have a Jackson Kraken 15'7" ocean kayak. But, if I didn't...and no offense intended towards you in anyway. I WOULDN'T BUY A KAYAK made in china. I don't want any of my money supporting the CCP in any manner. Just my thought on this.
they are generic kayaks, just realized galaxykayaks sell some of their OEM versions on the EU market.
Where are Vanhunks kayaks made?

Started in South Africa, Vanhunks defines quality and practicality for a fishing kayak at a very affordable price. Vanhunks is a 100% family owned business that is really starting to make its dent in the quickly growing fishing kayak industry.
We should be getting a few vanhunks kayaks soon for testing 😃
Personally, and it is very hard to do, I avoid anything made in CHINA when I can.
This iPhone 12 Pro Max was made in China so was the Shearwater 125 some companies make cool stuff in China my problem is the copy cats
It is made in Africa
@@bobarganbright180 yeah right
@@bobarganbright180 As long as its not CHINA
@@bobarganbright180 the company is based in Africa but the product is made in China.
Hobie FTW
Action watersports in Aurbundale. Pet the dog.
great place
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What is cheap if i was a millionair a 1000 was cheap since i'm not a millionair i think 200 is cheap
I bought that boat. Can't wait to get the boat on the water 💦.
I have one. Its really nice. Move the stearing handle closer to the seat. It fits right behind the hanfle. Fin drive is very effective ...even through water lillies. I enjoy it for sure..even stand on it...i am 90 kg..
I had one. No problems but steering needs to be on left for fishing. Great overall kayak. Center hatch hard to open.

Alibaba for $500
Not a fan of that one.
Thank you, I think you are right
still not cheap enough lmao
And they are probably doubling their money on them since they are buying in bulk too.
he paid 500 600 bucks for that on alibaba dont give this sucker your money go to alibaba and pay half the price
Shipping….
@@AliexFolgueira how much more could shipping be a couple hundred bucks still comes out to less than 1000 otherwise he wouldn't want 1400
Any kayak from China is NOT worth it, especially when we have some high quality mfg's like Ocean Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Old Town, etc. that are tried and true, hold their value, have excellent warranties and customer service, and made in the USA
You forgot to mention $1500+…. If I can save money and get a decent quality knock off I’m all for it
It’s quite clearly, another shameless copy.
Hey Alex try shutting up! Let your guest talk.
Why? It is my channel!
What’s the point of having a guest? You know more than the guest,God you are so enlightened. You are definitely arrogant. Watch your videos sometime. You might puke! Good day to you Sir.
