- Docking a Sailboat in a tight slip inside cramped docks is not a fast process.
This episode demonstrates the techniques we use.
Located in Balboa Marina
it's home to Wanderlust, a 2018 Beneteau Oceanis 38.1
The marina is located inside Newport Harbor in Newport Beach, California.

This video gives me deja vu from ASA 103.
I learned that Newport Marina is one of the largest marinas on the West Coast, I also learned that Scott loves to talk. 😜
Very lovely, can you swim there ?
Curious why everyone is bow in? Seems to me you could easily reserve in with dual rudders and the thruster (depending on wind ofc).

You can tell it's Newport because 90% of the boats have 40% of their hull overhanging the slip...
Considering there was no wind, there was no reason for you to hit the finger like that, its so easy to point load the hull and delaminate internal structures especially on a benny. 3/10
and with a bow thruster on a 38'er too. sorry - I would not be uploading this as an example of a good mooring. A bit of prop wash would have sorted that hard to port and a quick splash of power to throw some water over the rudder. additionally its a spring that is the priority as bow and stern lines wont stop the bow hitting the dock. I guess there is no tide to worry about.
@@motorbiking18650 Only no prop wash those Bennys have dual rudders (maybe a sail drive too).
To slow = no steering... Sorry mate.
There's no point!
