BJP's victory in Maharashtra is owed only to religious bigotry. The only reason BJP gets the popular vote is by appealing the identity instinct of public at large. Our biggest misfortune seems to be that all issues take a backseat when pitted against identity politics.

Congress has taken an extremely left turn. People of Maharashtra are capitalists they know that free markets are the way forward. They don’t want that socialist ideology going back to the 60s and 70s. Last assessment is wrong... In Jharkhand, they did not lose bcz JMM was strong, they lost bcz they kept on harping on infiltrators issue which was a non starter except in 4-5 seats. Besides, BJP leaders of Jharkhand are very inept and corrupt themselves. But that apart, BJP managed to destroy Shiv Sena this time, NCP in the past, SP, today and in 2017/19/22, BSP, destroyed RJD, BJD..only unconquered forts that are left is TMC in Bengal and DMK/few other parties in south. This is bcz historically BJP is non existent in these places and it will take 10-20 years to build a base
