- The Blue Mosque at Fatih Istanbul, Turkiye is officially known as Sultan Ahmet Mosque was built by Sultan Ahmed I from 1609 to 1617. This is an Ottoman era historical Imperial Mosque. It can accommodate 10,000 devotees. The Mosque has a classical Ottoman layout with a central dome surrounded by four semi domes. The courtyard is flanked by six minarets.
It is decorated with thousands of Iznik tiles and painted floral motifs is predominantly blue colors, which gave the Mosque it's popular name.
