Its been a couple years since the original die-cast release. have you noticed any color fading on your unit? I have heard some part of this mark 5 is made of rubber....
I’ve been waiting for this figure for so long. The orig was selling for quite a bit on eBay by the time I started collecting hot toys. Lots of folks get kinda peeved about the number of these iron man releases, but he’s one of my favorite characters som I’m happy! Sucks about that paint chip-hope the replacement goes as smoothly as it sounds. Great review!
Well for the price you have to consider this is about the only one that can't be reused or repainted into different armors... With iron man sales going down they have to pull up the price for this one if they want it to make enough money

Next time get it through sideshow toys. I had one issue with my mark vi Diecast. Scratches in the leg and arm. The send me new leg and arm for free even without having to send back the damaged ones. TOP customer service.
I thought they were going to update 1-7 for the hall of armor. They are doing 2,4,5,6. All they need is 1,3,7. And hopefully they put out the diecast war machine mark 1 again.
Great review as always!! Bit shocked when you told us about how little diecast is in it. Your right this figure is over priced as there is way to much plastic in it. Thanks again for a great review.
Good review. But honestly, I would rather a new head sculpt be included, than the flaps on the legs. For the time and effort that went to make the flaps, they could have created a new head sculpt instead. I mean really; I would NEVER pose the figure with the flaps open. But a new head sculpt, more screen accurate, would have been wonderful. I was eager for this figure, but now, I might just pass on it.
Good point! For the price I paid at least both our wishes should have been in. And even at standard retail price it should have fit. Years back we got a DX set including a full figure and a second one for cheaper than the current prices they're asking for Hong Kong releases of Iron Man. Imagine...a full mark v suit incl. a racing track Tony packed in.
Great review, I agree as good as this figure is, the asking price is just too steep. Not enough features, additions to warrant the price. Only for die hard collectors imo

What is the purpose of the back flaps on this armor? As far as I know this armor hasn't got the ability to fly.
Onat It sill can fly, just not as high as other suits

As to the size comparison with tony in the suit vs out, most, if not all of Tony’s suits make him stand taller than usual

Dude, he has so much battle damage and you have a problem with one small paint chip??? I wísh I was lucky enough to be able to buy a Hot Toys figure.

Alcap1 ! They already did a few years ago. It wasn’t that good. Hopefully they’ll do another one at some point.

They already did mark 3, it was the first diecast out for the mk1-7 armors
very good review, i think i will hold off this til it comes up used on ebay and hope by then a 3rd party correct head is produced, cheers.

hi, just search ebay for tony stark or robert downey headsculpt theres loads from £10 up,but not yet one with scruffy hair to suit this figure

The height difference is pretty ridiculous. If Stark has the bleeding edge suit in IW, then he should be noticeably smaller than Cap and Thor.

See I am a die hard collector but cannot justify it when the height is that fucked up, bad head sculpt and lack of diecast
This is my favorite suit too bad it doesn't get enough screen time in the movie
