I love these build videos! You do a fantastic job! Although it is entertaining and easy to watch, the real value of the video is in how you thoroughly and accurate paint of picture of the whole build. You make things very clear. Rhykker, you make it fun and easy to understand the build, how to play and _why_ the different gear, gems, etc. are chosen and how everything synergies together. By contrast, things seem very opaque when I try to create a build in Van Helsing. Some choices are permanent, so it is hard to be confident in choices when I am just starting out. It is too bad that you don't do 1 or 2 builds for Van Helsing! If you ever do a build, don't do a Black Widow build, please. That is the only one that I have found with good documentation.
i haven't played since S3 and even then it was barely anything but your content and build guides got me so hyped I just re-installed and bought the necro expac for S21.
same goes here feels like someone who quits same time as mine. i know i will regret making space for this game thats why i didnt buy the necro expansion. hope it's worth my time and not 1-2 days gameplay of boring repetitive
@@mindshifter5772 Every season around 1-2 weeks is quite enjoyable, testing new builds and stuff. As soon as you hit Paragon 800 and its only about infinitely grinding GRs for primal ancients and lv 100+ augments on every piece of gear it becomes "Diablo 3" again.

Yeah probably the one aspect missing is hardcore. Leviathan has been experimenting again with hardcore characters lately. Worth a look. Still very much appreciate Rhykker and all that he uploads.

Those guys are just D3 streamers with lots of viewers, but still, they are pretty bad and low level all the time, and also none of them is able to even open a greater rift level 150. I still prefer watching a pretty chick, if It's about watching someone playing bad lol.
@@claytonmontague4837 It depends,if you are a casual player, so Rax will be enough for some general introduction to the game, but if you wanna play more hardcore ( or softcore lul ) and rekt the ladder, go try to see if Theultimateeggman can help u, he is way better than Raxx, and has a better knowledge, and greatest skills for all the classes, especially in solo, where Eggman achieved rank #1 worldwide a few times on sc and hc during seasons, while Rax's best could eventually be a top 10/20 North America. My advice would be " don't get fooled by the number of viewers" on twitch, it's like audience rating on TV shows ( majority of plebs love watching mediocre content, especially if u show a boob or two lol ). And BTW, u'll see, Eggman is way more fun and always joking/taking things not seriously, while Rax seems to be acting in a way to get more viewers/popularity, and surely this aproach is one of the main reasons why Eggman is so good compared to him, having fun while u play, playing while u re having fun, and do your best. Great video, but I have a question: is it typical to be very squishy with this build? even with mantra and epiphany up I come close to being oneshot at gr 90 with no ancients, diamonds in gear, and 600 paragon
drop the stone gauntlets and grab lefebvres soliloquy, gain %50 dmg reduction for 5 seconds when you activate cyclone strike. and with the Won Khim Lau you activate cyclone strike when hitting with tempest rush. And no, they still haven't fixed the cursor over bug. Love the Content Bro!
PoJ just started dropping for me on Greater Rift Torment level 8. Im also in game at Torment Level 8. You can also use the cube for duplicate set items that drop to try and get a different piece. For the legendaries, you can gamble blood shards at vendor. While this isnt the best way to get them, you can use the cube to upgrade rares to legendaries. I found that to be quicker.
"Balance" in Diablo 3: sets determine which builds should be viable each season due to "+50000% damage on skill x". Balance in Grim Dawn: every new patch changes damage and conversion numbers up and down by small amounts to ensure build diversity and creativity!
Spirit gen is useful for keeping tempest rush up permanently as well as being able to use auxiliary skills alongside it, then the cooldown reduction is useful for being able to use those auxiliary skills really frequently, such as serenity, epiphany, and blinding flash.
Ok don’t get me wrong but if you put convention of elements in the cube (if you can’t get it really good) and put on the ring of royal grandeur then wouldn’t that be better because you’re getting the full 200% off the convention of elements and because there is no chance for it to have the legendary power you would do more damage. If I’m somehow wrong please tell me
@@UkiKuki877 if you put convention of elements in the cube and put on ring of royal grandeur because it guaranties that you get the legendary power cause unlike convention of elements it has the %damage increase for the element rotation it is on so if you put it in the cube you get the maximum damage
Hey Rhykker, I know this is an old post, but I am hoping you can help me. I have done this build, I am paragon 1000, and I cannot get past GR102....seems like I hit a plateau. Did I miss something? I also have 5 primals in this set.
Finally got the WKL Fist weapon to drop. Kep trying to gamble, and upgrade rare fistweapons in the cube. Took a long time to get but worth it. I use Vengful Wind and WLK off hand
If you watched his season 21 tier list he mentions Zuni's for the WD pretty high. Though the pets are just a vehicle to deliver darts damage. I always play whatever I find to be fun, and with things like Legacy of Dreams / Nightmares you can really play around and make some fun viable builds.
This may be a stupid question...but my Cpt set does NOT include the same stats that you mention. Was this changed on launch or something? Or am I missing something. The 2 set piece is not what it was during s20 for me
Their is 2 different captains sets, make sure you got the right one. I crafted what I thought was the right captains set, then looked at it and was like WTF this isn't it!?? But there is 2 different captains sets.
Why don't you take blinding flash off of mouse click so you can use it while channeling tempest rush to blind mobs for utility when not in CoE cold window? If you put flash on 1-4 it doesn't cancel TR. If you use flash outside of cold window, it will be up by the time cold window comes back and you can use for utility.

Monk was my first class i'm thorns crusader or thront barb but now monk has new life to it. it sounds like whirlwind barb for monks but monks is faster i used to and still to run a sweeping wind build on my monk the old tempest rush build was gr8 but now its like it has mixxed the two this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I'm glad I always kept d3 installed and it's for times when blizz do stuff liek this! How can d4 ever top this game? for online only play d3 is where it's at d3 has the action that poe did not back in the day wheni played it. the marrige of the wow team with the d3 team was the sweet spot for me. d4 will prolly go the way down to more ike d2 was and that would be great but not what i want. i hope they give us support for d3 and new dlc for d3 when d4 comes out. they gonna kill d3 to sell d4 i kno it like sony did with gt5 for sure. i would rebuy a d3 remaster to keep my d3 account alive plus it would run better and look better d3 wiv raytraing ^^ ftw. PS i for got to say yeh no more pay wall to divide the d3 community and cross play mode a new kinda season thing and multi format on all blizz games all onsoles cross play with all old starcraft and warcraft meh lets go the whole mile and put wow on consoles too! :P

I am so tired of seeing Convention of Elements and Bane of the Trapped in every single build. I hope D4 avoids making certain items so OP that they become essential to all builds no matter what.
@@randallbrakob7047 Annihilus, Torch and pls what else? CTA+Spirit maybe(which was onlyl on secondary equip slot so again it doesnt waste a fixed slot in your actual gear. Also the 2 first mentioned were not equipable pieces, just charms in the inventory which gives your gearing a lot more freedom. Every other slot differs from build to build.....Amulets in the endgame are usually crafted(meaning they vary A LOT) rings had a solid 5+ choices(Soj, BK5, Wisp, Nature, Ravenfrost and in some cases even rare rings that have perfect rolls for your build) and all other slots had like...probably 10+ choices depending on build and class(remember almost every build has a MaxBlock variant, PVP variant, Hellfire variant, pure dmg variant, speed farm variant, group play variant, etc. that are sometimes geared completely different.). The fact alone that rare and even blue items could in some circumstances roll better than legendaries(because not all legs had a +5000% dmg buff) makes D2 infinitely times better and more variable. If you play 2 characters for 1 month now in sequence, so say 1 month Barb then after that you start another Barb with the same endgame build goal(say DualWield) you will 100% not wear the exact same items on both characters(yet both will be very viable to complete most if not all content of the game. In D3 you absolutely MUST wear at least 12 out of 13 pieces because they have a +5000% buff on your main damage skill. Which is just the reason why D3 is so bad compared to D2.
@@Devilfish6666 HOTO, ENIGMA, Harlequin Crest (helm), SOJ, hellfire and annihilus. I don't know enough about d3 to comment on the necessity of certain items, but I put thousands of hours into d2, and you can't argue that those items were basically essential for every build (minus maybe sorcs).
@@paravirt8870 Stone Gauntlets should only be used if you can keep Epiphany up 100%. Aquila Cuirass and Lefebvre's Soliloquy will both give flat out 50% fame reduction without crippling you if Epiphany falls off. Personally, I prefer to use Ancient Parthan Defenders and switch out Serenity for Cyclone Strike with the Wall of Wind rune. APD also works off frozen enemies, not just stunned, with 8 or more stunned/frozen enemies in range it becomes the greatest damage reduction option available. Also without having Serenity, less procs of Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac go to it. All that said, Mantle of Channeling seems like a poor choice compared to most other reasonable options given that you now lose its effect for 25% of your Convention of Elements window.
@@NoticemeSinPi if you are not well equipped enough to get 100% uptime on epiphany like the video suggests, then you should take advantage of the mantle for the extra damage to acheive it. Unless your talking about your own variant I had no problems with survivalbilty since maneuvering is so easy with tempest
Isn't Sunwuko generally speaking better for Tempest Rush-oriented build in terms of potential damage capabilities? The items are basically the same, but the 6-piece bonus from Sunwuko gives you hell of a damage buff for Tempest Rush.
put tempest rush on right and the blind on left click. then its really just hold down right click and every now and then shift+left click and you're playing the build^^
i played this last season, one thing i noticed you do not lose stacks when you use bliding flash, so you must release the flurry yourself now..... i don't know why....
@@saladofchaos You put Blinding Flash onto your left mouse click. Flurry procs when your character stops the channeling of Tempest Rush. So when you Shift + Left click, your character uses Blinding Flash while also stopping the channeling for the burst.
I have a question about the season 23 PoJ Tempest rush builds on Maxroll. If you look at this build on Maxroll and then scroll down you will see the GR Solo Push build and it has the monk using Convention of Elements and Obsidian ring of the zodiac but on the Scoundrel follower it has Unity as one of the rings and I have seen this on other season 23 builds. Why is the follower using Unity if the monk doesn't have it on. What benefit does it give? Is this just an oversight? If it shouldn't be unity then what should the follower be using besides the Oculus Ring? I see this same set up on the AOV Heaven's fury crusader GR solo push, the Firebirds mirror image gr solo push and the waste whirlwind gr solo push. Any thoughts or suggestions for replacement rings?
Hey Richard! Great observation. There aren't a lot of great options for an extra ring; the Unity is there in case you want to swap out your own CoE for a unity to trade damage for toughness. You can use a Wyrward instead of a Unity on your follower (and make sure he has a weapon that does lightning damage!) to give some crowd control to your follower, but that's only if you want him to be crowd controlling
Nothing to do with the video, but when weather starts, like i.e. the snowball that rolls around, what does that mean? I've been playing since I was 18, now 24 yesterday was the first time I saw that
I have seen most of your build vids and they are great. Easy to understand and all infos are packed compact and efficient. But its just sad that diablo has still its old problem that most builds contain the same Items. Its mostly a class set, crimson, royal ring, unity and some legendarys that buff the main skill. And all Items got nearly the same stats. Crit, main attribut, CDR then maybe defence. I hope it will be different in D4.
@@bizzmarky8140 vengeful wind is good for the monkey variant because you get damage per sweeping wind stack. but this one doesnt use this. there is also no kyshiros soul, so manually keeping up the stacks is required and vengeful wind doesnt really benefit the build
@@bizzmarky8140 if you wanna go fast for farming or something sure, then with vengeful wind and kyshiros and probably also 3 sunwuko pieces + royal grandeur (everything dies as soon as sweeping wind touches it pretty much) but this is for grifts where you dont really need the movement speed.

I'm running monk my buddy is running demon hunter and my other friend is running barb would crusader or witch doctor be better for the team my old lady can't decide
cause cyclone strike is auto cast when you have won kim lau equipped and hit enemies with tempest rush, blinding flash buffs that bracers and also gives 30% damage buff because of the rune. you could use cyclone strike as a skill on your bar to have a different rune autocast but you'd lose like the mantra or something else thats more important. for lower grifts (until 100) i played patterns of justice 6 piece with sun wuko 4 piece, using cyclone strike with cold rune on my bar (instead of the mantra) and the dash with blinding speed rune instead of the invulnerability. but i guess for higher grifts you gotta get even more toughness than what that would provide
Is there a variation that doesn't use convention and doesn't rely so heavily on frost windows? even if it cant go as far as 138. I'll settle for about 120 or something.
when you stop channeling tempest rush (clicking on a door for example) you lose %50 DR, does this cause a problem? if so how do you overcome it? it was the reason why WW barbs didnt use rend before set rework.
Monkmain for too many years, um yeah that's a big issue but yea like someone said use sand or you can use dash instead. I prefer dash as it's used in every other build. Just preference. pushing like gr100+ epip usually doesn't go through walls and doors so dash helps for that without stationary sanc. My preference though. GL

Earth mystic allies add a fat health bonus passive. Swap for serenity

If you watched his season 21 tier list he mentions Zuni's for the WD pretty high. Though the pets are just a vehicle to deliver darts damage. I always play whatever I find to be fun, and with things like Legacy of Dreams / Nightmares you can really play around and make some fun viable builds.

This may be a stupid question...but my Cpt set does NOT include the same stats that you mention. Was this changed on launch or something? Or am I missing something. The 2 set piece is not what it was during s20 for me
Their is 2 different captains sets, make sure you got the right one. I crafted what I thought was the right captains set, then looked at it and was like WTF this isn't it!?? But there is 2 different captains sets.

How do you gain spirit though? Epiphany doesn't restore it fast enough, and your play through shows like you're never using spirit.

Why don't you take blinding flash off of mouse click so you can use it while channeling tempest rush to blind mobs for utility when not in CoE cold window? If you put flash on 1-4 it doesn't cancel TR. If you use flash outside of cold window, it will be up by the time cold window comes back and you can use for utility.
i love you dude now i wanna play d3 again coz of new monk build ^^ your videos remind me of how much i love this game and what it has become over time. Monk was my first class i'm thorns crusader or thront barb but now monk has new life to it. it sounds like whirlwind barb for monks but monks is faster i used to and still to run a sweeping wind build on my monk the old tempest rush build was gr8 but now its like it has mixxed the two this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I'm glad I always kept d3 installed and it's for times when blizz do stuff liek this! How can d4 ever top this game? for online only play d3 is where it's at d3 has the action that poe did not back in the day wheni played it. the marrige of the wow team with the d3 team was the sweet spot for me. d4 will prolly go the way down to more ike d2 was and that would be great but not what i want. i hope they give us support for d3 and new dlc for d3 when d4 comes out. they gonna kill d3 to sell d4 i kno it like sony did with gt5 for sure. i would rebuy a d3 remaster to keep my d3 account alive plus it would run better and look better d3 wiv raytraing ^^ ftw.

on my Won Khim Lau dont you need more cold dmg? Because tempest rush with flurry is cold dmg and with convention ring it does even more dmg?

I am so tired of seeing Convention of Elements and Bane of the Trapped in every single build. I hope D4 avoids making certain items so OP that they become essential to all builds no matter what.

@@randallbrakob7047 Annihilus, Torch and pls what else? CTA+Spirit maybe(which was onlyl on secondary equip slot so again it doesnt waste a fixed slot in your actual gear. Also the 2 first mentioned were not equipable pieces, just charms in the inventory which gives your gearing a lot more freedom. Every other slot differs from build to build.....Amulets in the endgame are usually crafted(meaning they vary A LOT) rings had a solid 5+ choices(Soj, BK5, Wisp, Nature, Ravenfrost and in some cases even rare rings that have perfect rolls for your build) and all other slots had like...probably 10+ choices depending on build and class(remember almost every build has a MaxBlock variant, PVP variant, Hellfire variant, pure dmg variant, speed farm variant, group play variant, etc. that are sometimes geared completely different.).
The fact alone that rare and even blue items could in some circumstances roll better than legendaries(because not all legs had a +5000% dmg buff) makes D2 infinitely times better and more variable. If you play 2 characters for 1 month now in sequence, so say 1 month Barb then after that you start another Barb with the same endgame build goal(say DualWield) you will 100% not wear the exact same items on both characters(yet both will be very viable to complete most if not all content of the game. In D3 you absolutely MUST wear at least 12 out of 13 pieces because they have a +5000% buff on your main damage skill. Which is just the reason why D3 is so bad compared to D2.
@@Devilfish6666 HOTO, ENIGMA, Harlequin Crest (helm), SOJ, hellfire and annihilus. I don't know enough about d3 to comment on the necessity of certain items, but I put thousands of hours into d2, and you can't argue that those items were basically essential for every build (minus maybe sorcs).
Instead of mantle of channeling what about putting an aquila cuirass in the cube instead of the mantle, since we're always full on ressources?
He says in the video if you want to swap out mantle for some def go stone gauntlets
@@paravirt8870 Stone Gauntlets should only be used if you can keep Epiphany up 100%. Aquila Cuirass and Lefebvre's Soliloquy will both give flat out 50% fame reduction without crippling you if Epiphany falls off.
Personally, I prefer to use Ancient Parthan Defenders and switch out Serenity for Cyclone Strike with the Wall of Wind rune. APD also works off frozen enemies, not just stunned, with 8 or more stunned/frozen enemies in range it becomes the greatest damage reduction option available. Also without having Serenity, less procs of Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac go to it.
All that said, Mantle of Channeling seems like a poor choice compared to most other reasonable options given that you now lose its effect for 25% of your Convention of Elements window.
@@NoticemeSinPi if you are not well equipped enough to get 100% uptime on epiphany like the video suggests, then you should take advantage of the mantle for the extra damage to acheive it. Unless your talking about your own variant I had no problems with survivalbilty since maneuvering is so easy with tempest
Isn't Sunwuko generally speaking better for Tempest Rush-oriented build in terms of potential damage capabilities? The items are basically the same, but the 6-piece bonus from Sunwuko gives you hell of a damage buff for Tempest Rush.
I haven't watched this video yet, but isn't that why his sunwuko build says it's the strongest while this one says it's one of the strongest?
Not sure if anyone else has this issue but...it SEEMS as if my patterns of justice set doesn't give the effect of every rune for Sweeping Wind...

It does if you bind blind on one of the mouse buttons.
put tempest rush on right and the blind on left click. then its really just hold down right click and every now and then shift+left click and you're playing the build^^

i played this last season, one thing i noticed you do not lose stacks when you use bliding flash, so you must release the flurry yourself now..... i don't know why....
Same with me, I see this mentioned everywhere yet it has never once worked for me, Blinding Flash does not stop my channel.
@@saladofchaos You put Blinding Flash onto your left mouse click. Flurry procs when your character stops the channeling of Tempest Rush. So when you Shift + Left click, your character uses Blinding Flash while also stopping the channeling for the burst.
I have a question about the season 23 PoJ Tempest rush builds on Maxroll. If you look at this build on Maxroll and then scroll down you will see the GR Solo Push build and it has the monk using Convention of Elements and Obsidian ring of the zodiac but on the Scoundrel follower it has Unity as one of the rings and I have seen this on other season 23 builds. Why is the follower using Unity if the monk doesn't have it on. What benefit does it give? Is this just an oversight? If it shouldn't be unity then what should the follower be using besides the Oculus Ring? I see this same set up on the AOV Heaven's fury crusader GR solo push, the Firebirds mirror image gr solo push and the waste whirlwind gr solo push.
Any thoughts or suggestions for replacement rings?
Hey Richard! Great observation. There aren't a lot of great options for an extra ring; the Unity is there in case you want to swap out your own CoE for a unity to trade damage for toughness. You can use a Wyrward instead of a Unity on your follower (and make sure he has a weapon that does lightning damage!) to give some crowd control to your follower, but that's only if you want him to be crowd controlling

I have seen most of your build vids and they are great. Easy to understand and all infos are packed compact and efficient. But its just sad that diablo has still its old problem that most builds contain the same Items. Its mostly a class set, crimson, royal ring, unity and some legendarys that buff the main skill. And all Items got nearly the same stats. Crit, main attribut, CDR then maybe defence. I hope it will be different in D4.

@@bizzmarky8140 vengeful wind is good for the monkey variant because you get damage per sweeping wind stack. but this one doesnt use this. there is also no kyshiros soul, so manually keeping up the stacks is required and vengeful wind doesnt really benefit the build
Thought for the 2 piece set bonus it was good for movement but maybe it's not optimal
@@bizzmarky8140 if you wanna go fast for farming or something sure, then with vengeful wind and kyshiros and probably also 3 sunwuko pieces + royal grandeur (everything dies as soon as sweeping wind touches it pretty much) but this is for grifts where you dont really need the movement speed.

This is the B tier Justice tempest Monk ? There isn't much difference from the sunwuko tempest monk.
sunwukong tempest makes tons more dmg but is slower in running :)
Sunwoko is also stronger and more defensive.

Why not use cyclone strike with frost instead of blinding flash for more damage?
cause cyclone strike is auto cast when you have won kim lau equipped and hit enemies with tempest rush, blinding flash buffs that bracers and also gives 30% damage buff because of the rune.
you could use cyclone strike as a skill on your bar to have a different rune autocast but you'd lose like the mantra or something else thats more important.
for lower grifts (until 100) i played patterns of justice 6 piece with sun wuko 4 piece, using cyclone strike with cold rune on my bar (instead of the mantra) and the dash with blinding speed rune instead of the invulnerability.
but i guess for higher grifts you gotta get even more toughness than what that would provide
I would swap out epiphany for cyclone strike wall of wind for more freeze, for speed runs anyway

For the obsideon ring, I replaced RCR for AS, is that bad? 7.0 AS, 8.0 CDR, 6.0 CHC.
when you stop channeling tempest rush (clicking on a door for example) you lose %50 DR, does this cause a problem? if so how do you overcome it? it was the reason why WW barbs didnt use rend before set rework.
you can activate sanctuary before using items for invulnerability!
Monkmain for too many years, um yeah that's a big issue but yea like someone said use sand or you can use dash instead. I prefer dash as it's used in every other build. Just preference. pushing like gr100+ epip usually doesn't go through walls and doors so dash helps for that without stationary sanc. My preference though. GL
So now I wonder if I should go GoD or Sunwuko Tempest Monk. I played WW last season, so wanted to try something new :D
