    Really enjoyed it, but the church you pointed out as the parish church is in fact a Church of Scotland, the parish lies behind it next to the walls. The cromwellian parish church has no spire and so can be overlooked!

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you so much for the information! You're absolutely right, it's easy to overlook the other church just as I did, but I'll pin your comment so that everybody can see. Thanks for the correction and Merry Christmas :)

      Just wondering are you from Berwick when I was a kid we used to go on holiday there every year as you walk down by the church there used to be a great toy shop with a fully laid out train set inside forgot what it was called I'm 51 now.

      @@graemenicol6377 Yes, I grew up in Berwick and live there currently. I'm not sure which toy shop that would be, I think there was one called the Toy Box, but I could be wrong!

      @@chrishart8897 I'm back to the early to mid 80s last time I was in Berwick was 1987 the shop I'm on about was on right hand side of the church on the corner on the road that runs opposite that's if that makes sense.

    My name is Piero, I am 71 years old, I live in Tuscany, (Italy), in the summer period (1968-1969) I lived from June to September in Berwick upon Tweed, working as waiter at The Castle Hotel, which is located near the train station. What a thrill to see the videos showing Berwick.. I remember Diddy Lucy Edward Pokora, the Roselli family who ran the coffee shop Arlequin, Tony Corvi and his wife where I ate my first fish and cheeps Kathleen Robson, Mr Todrick, Mrs Mac Lauren, I was 18, when I first saw Berwick. That period of life will always be in my thoughts and in my heart with immense Nostalgia Piero

    • @LetsWalkUK
      @LetsWalkUK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds very nostalgic indeed! I'm really glad to hear that this video brought back some wonderful memories of Berwick - I'm sure that the town was as lovely a place back then as it is today (and I bet the fish & chips were too!)
      Thank you so much for watching and for sharing those memories - I'm really glad to hear you enjoyed the video :) Grazie!

    Excellent video by the way. Particularly missing Berwick as I type this. Was in the town at October half-term and was meant to be returning for new year and staying on through January (part work, part leisure) but the dreaded looks as though it will get in the way yet again 😕 ...anyway, we'll see. Whatever, Berwick will still be there! Thanks for posting 👍😎

      Absolutely! Berwick will always be there (although who knows - it might switch sides of the border one day in the future 😜 I hope you get to return to the town sooner rather than later - as you well know it's a wonderful place :)

    I just discovered this video, and your channel yesterday. It is a fantastic, and informative video. I've subcribed and look forward for other nice ones like this one! Oh and by the way, the back and forth history of Berwick-upon-tweed, between Scotland and England just makes it that much better! 😂

      Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - Berwick's ping-pong history with Scotland and England is one of its biggest charms, there really is nowhere else like it in the country! But the question is...which country?

    I commented on the walk around Lincoln video and mentioned my family links to Lincoln, this upload then popped up in my feed which is a bit strange as it's the other big part of the tory of my family history. An ancestor was a coastguard and posted to Berwick in the 1840's, initially living across the river in one of the shorehouses at Spittal (and I can see there's a Tweedmouth video too so I'll check that one out), the family moved to Hide Hill Even more strange is the fact I knew nothing of my family history when I moved to Coldstream not that far from Berwick. Much like the Lincoln footage you passed right by where my ancestors lived and worked (and looked out at places I've worked myself).

    More memories, stayed in Berwick a few years ago in a hotel you walked passed, it was the last in the row on the left near the station and opposite the Kwik Fit garage.
    We walked the Tweed bank from the town to just before the railway bridge then up some steps that came out just before the station and near the hotel.
    We’ve also called for a stop there many times on our way back from numerous trips to Scotland, unfortunately the car park you passed on the right was either full or the spaces available wouldn’t fit our large car so we started stopping at the supermarket just off the A1 on the way into the town.
