Wow, 3.82 seconds to 100km/hr is absolutely phenomenal, especially considering that it is currently AUD$59,990 drive-away. Great to see that the 3.82 secs as tested matches MG's claim of 3.8 secs. The braking, from 100km/hr, of 36.38 metres is pretty decent also (an i30 (Elantra) N sedan was tested at 36.64 metres). The MG4 XPower is a great looking hatch.
The brake-hold method unfortunately isn't right: to use launch control, you are meant to press the brake hard, accelerate up to 60% power, then release the brake. You seem to have accelerated to less than 20% power and you had the ESC off which will not engage launch control.
Thanks. I tried as hard as I could to provoke some sort of 'launch control' activation but nothing happened. Our times met the official claim of 3.82 - maybe it's even quicker? Keep in mind we do Vbox testing off-camera - a lot more runs. The video is just a video demonstration.
@@drivingenthusiastaustraliapush hard on brake Foot down on throttle at 25% it will lurch forward Then you go flat to floor car will go upto 66% and then you let go of the brake Looks like it doesn’t change a huge amount in terms of 0-100 I think fastest I’ve seen is 3.6
@lukemothug anything other than that piece of crap these guys don't even include the speedometer error which is 3 kmh making it around 4 seconds to 4.1 seconds 0-100 kmh my audi s4 is faster with a stage 1 tune 😂
Btw theres a launch control on that x power you need to brake boost it until the x power boost thing gets up to 66 % and then you let go the brake and enjoy the performance
At least MG has offered a hot hatch. It may not be a track demon, but at least it is reasonably priced. I wonder what the Germans will offer in terms of hot hatches, I know they will come with hefty price tags.
I've heard great things about the Hankook ION Evo AS tyres. But one review from a M3P owner who hates them because they apparently aren't good under torque and in the wet. Any thoughts?
Even in eco mode (some say apparently only runs in single motor mode?) its 0-100 time if high 6.6 is vastly faster than majority of normal traffic cars 😆
EVERY electric car takes more than a night to charge. Also remember it takes the same time to charge from 0 to 80% as it takes to charge from 80 to 100%, so you can charge plenty overnight, or you can buy a wall charger which reduces the time drastically. Remember, nobody fills a car up from 0 to 100. Also, remember its a hell of a lot cheaper to fill than an ICE car

Wtf, that 60-120km/hr test though 😂 2 and a half seconds, that is unbelievable
Great clip - i like that you show us close ups of all the small details usually missing from standard video reviews.
Awesome. I'm more in the price bracket for the base 51kWh, but I'd love to get my hands on the X-Power.

I really hope parents behave responsibly and don't let some kid drive this around
Nor me

Would be interesting to see this test done when car is fully charged to see if there is a difference. Also did you use launch control?
For a car with that much power, it really needs better tyres than the Bridgestone Turanza T005 EV
What do you recommend?
@@lukemothugMichelin Ps4's or the new Bridgestone potenza re's
@@davidgriggs3967 I hear the potanza re are no good in wet weather.
@lukemothug Every tyre has its strengths and weaknesses , and I can't see anyone sending their high powered car in the wet anyway.

very good video.
So porsche power in mg body right😅
The clip of it accelerating away looks like it's sped up haha
Would be an 11 second car with some ps4's or new potenza's

3 nights to charge it.

close to 25 hours from empty (2.4kw out of a socket and 60kw battery)
Great car for the money. Hope it does really well
Breaking news - Customer deliveries have temporarily ceased due to a steering damper issue though this will be rectified shortly.
My god this is crazy
Thats quick! I hate electric cars. They are just so quick! LOL
I'm pretty sure eco mode only uses one motor
