You don't need to cycle the glow plugs. The glow plug relay keeps the plugs running for about 30 seconds (even after the light is turned off). If you pay attention, you can hear the relay click if you leave it with the key on the glow position for about 30 seconds.
Inline 5 diesel goin places! That shifter rattle would get to me, but otherwise I could listen to that engine and cabin for a long time. Road noise sounds better when it's filtered by the star on the hood.
I never liked diesel because the smell of its exhaust makes me sick(nausea). but I like it for all its characteristics and sound. Now i have VW with LPG on it - clean warm air from the exhaust..
Looks like your right-hand indicator is illuminated when the cluster lights are on. The little PCB for that side isn't sitting flush with the casing when the last person put it back together
Beautiful W 123 !!! ,greetings from Patagonia Argentina.

Good to know thank you
Previous owner hooked the lights up wrong and the glow plug light is the seatbelt light and vice versa
It's easy to pull the cluster, u just need to make some hooks to pull it out
Bro got all the check marks in his car:
✔ Mercedes-Benz
✔ Diesel
✔ Automatic
✔ Mercedes ornament on the hood
I will be loosing one of those checkmarks when I swap a 5 speed in.
automatic is a downside manual is much better

The shifter rattle will only be around for another month. I have a 5 speed to swap in
@@dailyolds1970 zf5 swap?
Nice car and the right sound👂❤
Awesome!

I love the smell of Diesel exhaust. 😆
Does the 300 not have an idle adjustment knob on the dashboard? My 240 did, I just assumed all of the W123 and older diesels did.
My understanding is it was only for naturally aspirated diesels. Not the turbo cars.
Hopefully you didn't swap it. The manual transmission does not suit these cars, they are much better as an auto.
I'm not using a mercedes manual trans as they aren't great. Using an ax15 from a jeep. Much better ratios and much more durable.

Yup. Previous owner did that. He also flipped my seat belt light and glow plug light, so I need to fix that as well
