We got a new Project Jeep And its time to start with some upgrades!
Ive been asked by quite a few of you to do a video on Remote Start Kits for the Jeep Wrangler JK. This is a fairly straight-forward install, but can be a little tricky just to get access under the steering wheel.
Having a remote start can be extremally handy, both during winter and summer, plus it gives our engines a little bit of time to warm up before we hop in and drive.
I mentioned that there are ways to make this work with a manual transmission, however it can be extremely dangerous and you will have to figure out a safe solution on you own (Maybe others can chime in the comment section if they have done it).
As for the new 2 Door JK!! Ive wanted a 2 door for a long time now, and there are quite a few things that i plan on doing differently than the JKU build... Im not saying there is anything wrong with the JKU, its just almost done with major upgrades and ive love to continue making JK videos for all of you. We have a ton of "Daily Driver" Upgrades to do, and of course it will slowly turn into an extremely capable offroad machine.

For zip ties, all you need is a flush cutter, it will not leave any sharp edge from the zip ties, cuts flush. You can buy them at Amazon, l used them all day at work,👍
Was curious on the manual. You answered that question right off lol. Worth a try, would love to have remove start for those cold mornings.
One of the best decisions I ever made was remote start. Mountain winters don't suck nearly as bad when the truck is heated by the time you get there.

I’m glad you guys are building up a 2 door jk. I have one and I always get inspiration from your videos. Even if it doesn’t pertain to what I’m trying to do I just enjoy watching still.
My wife got me a early Christmas present a remote start for my jeep . Man dont know how i lived without one all these years. My wife has always had Grand Cherokee so she has always had remote start lol..

I bought a used JKU that had this kit on it (found it while installing a radio) and got it to remote start a few times on accident but your video helped me figure out how to use it reliably. Thanks so much!

That remote start is the first thing i installed on my 2016 jku when i bought it.Its been working great ever since.

Bought the kit through your link, followed your instructions ( easier than the ones included, thank you ), and it works like a charm!!! This was the one option that I wanted with my JK that I didn't get this is a total game changer! Had a bit of a scare when I tried to turn off the Jeep initially and it wouldn't, then stepped on the brake and it turned off... what the heck. Realized that it will operate normally and if you turn the key on and drive it, again, works normally. Great find, thank you.

I bought on of those a lil over 5 month ago and I love it. I did disable the honk on every push of the key fob, just felt like a lot of noise just to start my jeep. I found a TH-cam video that show you how to disable the horn when pressing the key fob on the Jeep, very easy to do following some steps pressing some bottoms on your fob. other than that, great product.
I installed this after watching your video, love it and so simple to install.
I can’t wait to see what your gonna do with this build! I have a 09 Jeep jk X 6 speed and have been thinking about stretching it as well so can’t wait to see what you do!
I am actually glad to hear your building 2 door, and stretching it.
If you want some extra distance with the remote, hold it to your chin and press the button. This works with any remote for any car!
A buddy at work has a Jeep that wouldn't start from across the parking lot. I told him about this and he was blown away when it worked.

I just got one for my jk hooked everything up except the main box doing that on Monday…I got the non keyless model very simple and the reviews for the wrangler were good reviews 👍🏼
I have the same kit with that phone App/GPS vehicle locator. I've had it for about 3-4 years. It's always worked great!

I installed this on my Jeep a year ago when I first got it. It works great. If I were to do it again, I would add on the long range remote

That is a pro tip! being an electrician, there is nothing worse than getting sliced up by zip ties some one cut off, creating scalpel!

Congrats on the new JK, my first JK was a 2dr. I kinda wish I kept it and did a stretch, but it was a manual and my legs were too short to push the clutch all the way in.
Great tip on the twist off zip tie method! 👍🏼
Or just use a pair of flush cuts works just the same and a lot faster. Or even a razor blade or a sharp pocket knife works

This kit works great and I’ve had it for over 1 yr on my 2016 jeep but the range is super low, I have to get outside my front door, walk towards the garage point the keyfob to the jeep on the sidewalk and hope it honks 3 times, other than range, this is pretty sweet
I have that same 2 door JK but manual and it came with the same Pioneer stereo!
Very excited to see this. I have a 2door on 37's and have been debating on stretch methods. Curios if you're thinking comp cut the rear, or body stretch and make similar to an LJ layout.
Touching a key to your head will give you more distance in using your Fob key. No joke.

I found the factory version for $150 and had it installed. It came with new keys. It was over 350 to have it installed due to the having the kees cut and programmed.

You can disable the horn honk too if you don’t want to annoy the neighbors with three honks every morning. I don’t remember the sequence but it’s possible
My JK came with remote start from factory but I installed one of those kits on my Dodge 2500 Diesel
easy peasy. have you found the push start installation. I loved having the push start and not having to use a key to turn the ignition into on position.
We actually purchased a factory remote starter from Amazon a few years ago and couldn't get it programmed right. I wonder if it's the same one.
1st. There are pliers to cut zip ties. They also tighten it to boot.
Also, if you step on the brake and the key isn't in it, the system shuts off.

Man, I just bought a 2013 JK and I haven't owned a Jeep since a 1987 Wrangler Laredo. So much new stuff. Wish you lived closer so you could tell me what upgrades it already has. What's weird, it has all the markings of a Freedom model, though they say the FM wasn't made in 2023. It's midnight blue with the star on the hood.

It should work with no issues! I plan on buying another one soon
I will be doing this to my JK (2013) soon. Just need to make sure with the 6 speed. Sounds like there will be no issue.

Ben, i've been thinking about how you mentioned doing an engine swap. Since you've already done 2 V8 engine swaps on the channel, how about you do a Diesel swap?! You could turn this one into a torque beast! Either a 4 cylinder or more would be a nice change to see.
I’m just not a fan of diesels in a jeep if it’s going to see road use. The money just isn’t worth it in my opinion. However if I find a 2.8 for a steal then maybe

I believe if you have remote started it and then step in the brake witout putting in the key n turning, it will shut off ..... happens to mine but that's just sorta common sense.
Hold the remote to you chin, raise your hand above your head and the distance will be greater.

Do you see your self getting a 2 door gladiator if they make it. Personally I'd love one but family size i can't at this time id have to do the 4 door to enjoy it with the family too.
If they did, I would! At least if it had fold down seats in the rear like an old ranger

They make a kit for JKs with manual locks and windows. It’s just as easy to install.

You would have to hit the lock button after, ours stayed unlocked after the start
Watch with that kit have the same one in my wife’s and when the doors are off the radio will not shut off for some reason now
