    Definitely,the best money that you can spend on a farm. Yield monitors on combines drives all of this. Rules to live by on farm ground,clean it up,dry it up,and sweeten it up!

    The drawback to putting all that pipe on top of the ground is if you had a break down and for some reason couldn’t install that pipe and a wind storm came through it would make a big tangled mess of expensive pipe.

    very interesting .never have done any of this before. dont think that it would work in the Mississippi river bottom cause the water table on our farm is about 20 in below the top of the dirt .we can only disc the farm ..thanks for showing how its done

      You would be surprised where tile could help you. Not only are you removing access water your also adding oxygen to the soil.

      Not any peanuts grown in this area.

    I’d like to hear more about why you are tiling those specific areas. Just wet bottoms? Or whole fields

      We are tiling the whole farm but if not we just do the problem areas on a farm.

    What is the cost per acre to complete drainage? What is the return expected for this upgrade? ROI?

      It all depends on how many acres you’re trying to drain. Also if you have to put in lift stations and power to them. Lot of what if’s involved. This project will pay for itself the first growing season alone. #2 ROI on the farm. Grain bins are #1.

    I don’t know anything about tile how deep are you putting it?

    • @TheCropCritic
      @TheCropCritic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Depends on how deep your outlets are. This is going in at 36”. The next main went in at 48”.

    How many acers are you draining with the 6 inch main,and what is the 24 hour coefficient?

    • @TheCropCritic
      @TheCropCritic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We had 3 mains on the farm. The 1st one was 10 acres on the main. I don’t know exactly the flow on it yet.

    Ignorance is the number one problem with urban folks today. I don't believe very many of them understand how complicated and interconnected everything is. Farming isn't easy. It's difficult and maximizing yield requires years of data, correct analysis of that data and having enough cash reserves or obtaining financing to undertake projects that meet a threshold for being truly worthwhile. Then the actual project must be done. Materials, labor, equipment and weather. I'd bet only a tiny insignificant fraction of the urban folks know anything more about farming than dirt, seeds and rain. It's one thing to understand the concept of installing drain tile. Actually seeing a project done bridges that gap from concept to the actual work involved.
