So, with a little sadness we come to the end of the season. Fortunately I shall go back to the very beginning, season 1 and enjoy your many journeys all over again for what do we learn apart from canal life, narrow boat handling and what a stunning Country we live in? I made a list so here goes… Boat maintenance, Weather forecasting, Geography, History, Architecture, Nature Studies, Bird Life, Photography, Cooking and last but not least The Continual search for the Best Pork Pie in the Country! A heartfelt thank you to you Kevin and to Aslan for sharing your travels and giving us all so much enjoyment and inspiration.

Here in the US, it's becoming near impossible, in more and more of the country, to find a place where it's legal to anchor a cruising boat, even over night. The amount of wealth and power concentrated in the top one percent of the population continues to skyrocket, and those people, mostly, don't care about anything or anybody but themselves, not even their own grandchildren or great-grandchildren. It's very sad and wrong.

Very often, I will browse around the area that you happen to be touring (in Google Maps), and am always fascinated by such a far-away adventure from right here in my chair. But, no, thank you, for Oxford. I'll squelch my thoughts on the "Quiet Zone"! I may visit J. Stanforth Butchers, in Skipton, and imagine having a fresh pork pie. Or perhaps totally rewind and have a hike 'round Crick, Y'all! Cheers for now!

It’s funny, yours and Narrowboat Will and Narrowboat Journeys are all channels I follow along with a couple more. I visited Oxford a year ago and I visited the canal at Jericho, recognized it where you moored. Main reason I was there was to see where the episode of Inspector Morse was filmed. That church is impressive too, St. Barnabas. Oxford was a bit frenetic, but I enjoyed it. I was visiting from California. Cheers, hope your editing goes smoothly!

I’m so glad that years ago we turned back after Banbury. I must admit that even tho the filming was superb I was really stressed watching and looking for a mooring for you. Can I just say on here my thoughts go out to fellow boaters who are struggling with the floods. I haven’t been able to get get off in 3 days but the folks around here have been amazingly helpful, the boating community is really the best when in trouble- stay safe everyone 🦆💕

Just to say "thank you" kevin for another great season, You really are a highlight in our week. I was delighted to see some photo's added to this episode, made my day at 8.37 when one popped up. I said to J, you must have felt complete sensory overload walking around a big place like Oxford. The noise i noticed straight away, then the people going about their business and all in a hurry, least i can imagine that's how it felt, coming from the canal to a big city. Well Kevin, we would like to wish you a healthy, happy and peaceful 2024. Thanks again for our "friday night getaway treat" we look forward to whatever you put up next and if we feel the need ( COMPLETELY LIKELY) we will go back and pick at random an episode to sit back and enjoy all over again. I've moved up North from Derbyshire to the wonderful Northern Highlands. So miss the canals and walking the dogs but this is an amazing and relaxing alternative. Great to hear Aslan and that wonderful engine sound. Looking forward to more videos as the year unfolds. I hope all boaters can enjoy the canals but with these crazy new licences and lack of facilities it's terrible seeing so much demise on the waterways. Let's face it, the CEOs of these canal and river trusts must have their Fancy Cars and Whisky supplies 🤔😁. We wish you well on your onward journey. Stay safe and enjoy the countryside !

Hi Kevin, another great series comes to an end. Its been great watching your adventures over all the seasons. By accident I came across Great Canal journeys on prime video which is a documentary video starring actors husband and wife Tim West and Prunella Scales, aka Basil Fawltys wife. Its from 2014 when she was 82 and still working the locks! You've a long way to go mate! However, they started in Bath and I'd love to see you go there from Oxford in the next series and tackle the 16 locks st Caen Hill. But if you decide to head back up north, then they went through the Stenhedge tunnel on the Huddersfield canal which is over 3 miles long! Now that would be an epic adventure! All the best for 2024 from Seattle! I'm a Scot and still miss the UK for all its faults! Lol. Cheers mate!

Another beautiful video Kevin, thank you and I think I would agree with you that south of Trupp. That section of the Ken Allen especially the city of Oxford is something that should be explored once at best, Oxford continually makes choices to make itself less desirable for people to be in, absolutely beautiful though, I can’t wait to check in with you somewhere on the northern end of that canal, take care and thank you for the link to your fellow narrowboat hire, I have already checked out two of his videos and they seem interesting

We have enjoyed this series as we have the earlier ones, thank you. Your experience of the South Oxford matches our own. The transition from the quiet canal into a noisy, dirty urban area is too sudden for comfort. It is why, on our last trip down that waterway we terminated our journey at Thrupp, a much better and welcoming destination.

I’m so glad that years ago we turned back after Banbury. I must admit that even tho the filming was superb I was really stressed watching and looking for a mooring for you. Can I just say on here my thoughts go out to fellow boaters who are struggling with the floods. I haven’t been able to get get off in 3 days but the folks around here have been amazingly helpful, the boating community is really the best when in trouble- stay safe everyone 🦆💕
Many boats come adrift and stuck on wires or sunk where their moored.

Just to say "thank you" kevin for another great season, You really are a highlight in our week. I was delighted to see some photo's added to this episode, made my day at 8.37 when one popped up. I said to J, you must have felt complete sensory overload walking around a big place like Oxford. The noise i noticed straight away, then the people going about their business and all in a hurry, least i can imagine that's how it felt, coming from the canal to a big city. Well Kevin, we would like to wish you a healthy, happy and peaceful 2024. Thanks again for our "friday night getaway treat" we look forward to whatever you put up next and if we feel the need ( COMPLETELY LIKELY) we will go back and pick at random an episode to sit back and enjoy all over again. I've moved up North from Derbyshire to the wonderful Northern Highlands. So miss the canals and walking the dogs but this is an amazing and relaxing alternative. Great to hear Aslan and that wonderful engine sound. Looking forward to more videos as the year unfolds. I hope all boaters can enjoy the canals but with these crazy new licences and lack of facilities it's terrible seeing so much demise on the waterways. Let's face it, the CEOs of these canal and river trusts must have their Fancy Cars and Whisky supplies 🤔😁. We wish you well on your onward journey. Stay safe and enjoy the countryside !

If the owners of the canal don't like it then they should do something about it! Well, I think you just demonstrated from my perspective what makes travel interesting, that feeling of discomfort you get sometimes. Thank you for being honest, I have been many places where I thought, hmmmm, wouldn't want to live here. Hi Kevin, another great series comes to an end. Its been great watching your adventures over all the seasons. By accident I came across Great Canal journeys on prime video which is a documentary video starring actors husband and wife Tim West and Prunella Scales, aka Basil Fawltys wife. Its from 2014 when she was 82 and still working the locks! You've a long way to go mate! However, they started in Bath and I'd love to see you go there from Oxford in the next series and tackle the 16 locks st Caen Hill. But if you decide to head back up north, then they went through the Stenhedge tunnel on the Huddersfield canal which is over 3 miles long! Now that would be an epic adventure! All the best for 2024 from Seattle! I'm a Scot and still miss the UK for all its faults! Lol. Cheers mate!

Another beautiful video Kevin, thank you and I think I would agree with you that south of Trupp. That section of the Ken Allen especially the city of Oxford is something that should be explored once at best, Oxford continually makes choices to make itself less desirable for people to be in, absolutely beautiful though, I can’t wait to check in with you somewhere on the northern end of that canal, take care and thank you for the link to your fellow narrowboat hire, I have already checked out two of his videos and they seem interesting

Thank you Kevin for another great season I'm sorry it's come to an end. I hope you've managed to find a winter mooring as the Oxford didn't appear very welcoming to visitors. I also hope you're managing to keep dry as I understand middle England is currently flooded. For once we're not doing too badly up here in County Durham. We have enjoyed this series as we have the earlier ones, thank you. Your experience of the South Oxford matches our own. The transition from the quiet canal into a noisy, dirty urban area is too sudden for comfort. It is why, on our last trip down that waterway we terminated our journey at Thrupp, a much better and welcoming destination.
Agreed. If I was to do it again, I'd stop at Thrupp as well.
